Which attunement magic items will you take for a high caster?
Hello guys:)
I am trying to make a little list of good magic items for my fellow players in a magic market game.
For now I have:
Rob of the archmagi
Staff of power
Staff of defense
Or (for the warlock we have)
Rob of the archmagi
Staff of power
Rod of the pact keeper +3
And I can't really think on other stuff.
Ion stone of mastery does look good but is it better then the other stuff?
Will rob of the archmagi is better then a +3 medium armour for the sorcerer with medium armour that like melee range?

Ring of spell storing. Not so much for the caster, but for the party with a caster. Give haste, greater invisibility, or shadow of moil to a fighter or rogue. 5th level armor of Agathys to a barbarian. Find greater steed to everyone.
Animated shield or defender weapon for AC
Rod of absorption for spell protection and extra casting (really strong for warlocks as it allows them to store high level slots and use them for multiple lower levelsMeet the Party! www.cannibalhalflinggaming.com

I generally agree with the guide from Tribality:

Re: Which attunement magic items will you take for a high caster?
Really depends on the caster, frontline or backline caster.
Robe of the ArchMagi is an obvious choice for Armor.
Staff of Power is great it's got alotta versatility.
Sheild guardian amulet if your caster needs some protection.
Bracers of defence to up def even more with Robes / Staff.
Some casters use certain items to shore up deficiancies / depending on campaign.
I have a buddy who swears by rocking a belt of dwarven kind on his wizard.
+2 Con / Darkvison / Advantage poison / Resist Poison damage.
My current bladesinger Wizard rocks a belt if giant str for 25 Str bonos.
Warlock - Wand of the Pact keeper is Juicy for sure, it's such a nice boost.

An underrated item is the Staff of Swarming insects. It’s one of the few ways to block truesight, and arguably some types of blind sight without blinding you.

Tome of the skilled tongue. There are also a lot of good artifacts, but i'm guessing those aren't on the market :p

Re: Which attunement magic items will you take for a high caster?
Periapt of Wound Closure
Not the sexiest of things and I kinda hope my DM even forgot I have it but when my Bard goes down I don't totally trust the Wizard to be counting death fails before using my healing words out of his ring of spell storing, we have a new Cleric Player and I am not sure if our Ranger has any healing spells, if he doesn't go down first.
Plus, when that angry Blue Dragon straffed us as soon as I realized I wasn't insta killed I knew everything would be fine for me at least.

Re: Which attunement magic items will you take for a high caster?
Staff of Defence is good if your DM lets you cast Shield as a Reaction not an Action as written in the item. Otherwise I would take the Ring of Protection.
Cape of Mountebank is good for Dimension Door with out needing attunement. Boots of Elvenkind is another item anyone can use.
I am also a fan of Belt of Dwarfkind for Human Wizards.
The main limitation is three attunement slots. Robes of Archmagi are great but will you have them before level 20?

Re: Which attunement magic items will you take for a high caster?
If you're a Sorcerer, a good wand may be worthwhile. The Wand of Lightning gives you up to 7 casts of a solid 3rd level spell per day in exchange for attunement.

Re: Which attunement magic items will you take for a high caster?
'better' will depend on your definition. With a Shield and 14 Dex it gives a better AC and it frees up an attunement slot but you will struggle to fine one item to match the other two powers. Since Armour does not take up a slot there is no problem with wearing both.
