I see them as a big advantage. They allow you to heal units before the other team turn starts. Handy for very strong units and warlords. If GK had had a few of those capable of healing dwagons...

    For a bit of post-traumatic stress-relief, yes.
    For employment, probably not.

My confusion was from your thought that the Archons are leaving. Is there something that I've missed, or are you assuming they are on a one-turn contract? You've mentioned the idea twice now, which makes me think it wasn't just a passing fancy for you.

There is nothing direct in the text, but they were hired for a specific mission, and now that Jillian is back the contract might be considered fulfilled.

yeah, mostly what vreejack said...they were hired to escort Jilian back to the column, which will probably be next turn, even though they are powerful, when Jilian is no longer vulnerable I assume Ansom won't need them and they are expensive.

they are mercenaries after all, and you know Charlies Angels only stayed around for the mission in the tv show.

If Stanley attacks the leadership group over the lake it wouldn't shock me to discover that their contract is extended, renewed or rewritten to cover other exigencies, whether or not Ansom survives the attack.

Talking about the idea of melding Wanda and Sizemore, it was discussed before. I made the point that their powers, which both involve the animation of objects, might be complimentary but don't seem appropriate for any form of useful combination. What would combining these two accomplish, exactly? Wanda animates the formerly living, Sizemore animates non-living matter (Sizemore's job seems tougher IMO, though Wanda's might be more useful with regard to ex-warlords). This is not to say that Rob has not thought of a way, however.

It should be mentioned that Sizemore's power to shape rock might be complimentary in some way, as it is not obviously merely parallel to Wanda's skills.

I also wonder how Wanda's current condition would either help or hinder a combination.

Yeah, but the mission had to last an hour of tv time. The escort job was only a five-ten minute sequence, these Angels, er, Archons still have another 45 minutes of screen time to go!

On an episode like this, this would be the opening scene, sort of a courier job before the real mission begins.

I wonder if Bosley will have an appearance?
Thanks to Ceika (X2), Yeril, Holammer and Dr. Bath for the Avatars!

    Gotcha!

That makes sense, thanks for being patient with me being obtuse. Now that you say it, I'm not sure how I didn't follow you before.

The idea(or at least my idea) is that Wanda's ability to cast outside her specialty, combined with Sizemore's expertise outside his specialty would allow them to cast with power and skill in any specialty. It's summed up well with Wanda and Sizemore's conversation here.

In fact, the context of that conversation may provide the method by which the battle is ended: With Sizemore's knowledge of hippiemancy and Wanda's sheer casting power, they might be able to calm the coalition to the point that a surrender/truce can be arranged. I hope not, though. The comic has been building to a peak and that would be... anticlimactic.

I prefer to think that they would work within Sizemore's specialty and do some massive earth-works: removing the road and sealing the caldera would force the coalition to go through the tunnels, which SiMaWa would be be able to control quite effectively...

As for Wanda's current mental state, it might make it easier to link with her (if linking can be resisted), it might make the composite mind a bit more like the two healthy minds, and it might actually diminish the power of the linked 'mancers. Of course, it might also have little to no observable effect.
