Nexus of the Future I - Floating Dreams of Riches - Day 1

Keris sits at a table, counting out his remaining coins. Coming to a conclusion, he calls out,
"10GC on the Key!"

Without warning, several alarms go off in one of the corridors of the ship.

"Warning! Fire detected in Section 23A, Deck 3. Initiating fire suppression protocols. Please stand clear of the force screen."

From the ceiling a transparent energy field form and cover a small object on the ground that is spewing lots of smoke, with tiny bits of flame shooting from it. The energy field prevents any further oxygen from entering the area around the item, and several minutes later it has burned itself out, at which point the field vanishes.

Those of you brave enough to approach the item fine that it is the charred remains of a personal scanner, obviously recently used.

"I bid 11GC on 'le clé du chef'!" (captain's key), the Frenchman shouts, before hearing the fire alarm.

"Sacre bleu..." he comments with a distinct intonation.

End of Day #2

Looking at a nearby calendar that automatically adjusts itself for the temporal disassociation due to the ripping of space/time, you all notice that it is almost that fabled holiday, Christmas!!!

Suspicions forgotten, many start celebrating the holiday. Decorations go up throughout the ship, meager gifts are exchanged, and one brave soul even gets the single holodeck working, and programs a lovely snowing scene from planet Earth of legend, despite the warning signs saying that the holodeck should never be used due to faulty safety protocols. That brave soul decides that having a Christmas without a Santa Claus would be horrible, so he codes in for a Santa Clause. However that person mistypes something, and something far more scary appears.

Robot Santa

The dreaded Robot Santa, equipped with his gifts of destruction, goes on a rampage. People flee from him and out of the holodeck, where they are safe. Yet one poor soul, Frigs is a bit too slow, and is struck by a rocket propelled mistletoe that explodes, tearing him in half.

Someone then gets the smart idea to cut off power to the holodeck, and the lovely winter scene and Robot Santa vanish into ether, leaving behind the ruined corpse of Frigs.

Stepping close to the corpse, many of you are disgusted to find that he is still alive, despite having been torn in half. Those that have strong stomachs and lots of curiosity lean in close, and notice that many of the parts visible and not normal, with bits missing, others added in, and it looks like several little parts are trying to wiggle their way out of the corpse.

One of the bits manages to escape as Frigs lays on the ground, dying. It flops around, and you all recognize it with horror as being a Alien Face-Hugger of lore! The segment, far to young to survive outside of its host, dies. With a final gasp, Frigs also dies.

Summary of events

• Frigs was killed – He was a Alien Face-Hugger!!!
• Key to the Ship was awarded to a player for 10G
• The Cat was awarded to a player for 9G
• Due to the holiday season, we are placing a hold on all lynching’s and game matters. A distraction will be provided by CurlyKitGirl that may give those that participate a little something extra.

Keris gets slapped in the face by the mustachio'd Crabist as the former attempts to enter the latter's room.

"Yer mother never taught ya never to break 'n' enter while the occupant's awake, did she?"

A christmas ornament, in the form of a neon orange fiddler crab with a halo, hangs from Fullbladder's beaten hat and a piece of dried holly protrudes from his breast pocket in the old man's vain attempt to be festive.

I'm not sure it was THE devil, I think it may have been A devil. But I would like to know why you want to scratch the shock and awe because it's still a pretty good result.

The Shop Voice blares from the speakers once more, "In accordance with the wishes of Captain Pwenet and Vice Captain Curly several games have been introduced until the 27th of December.
These games will be: a scavenger hunt; a stump the Captains game; an RP game and a party. Please go to the nearest notice board for more information."

Christmas Activities

Scavenger Hunt: So, far most posts from the narrators have included references to various Sci-Fi shows. The person who finds the most wins a prize. One PM only.
Stump the Captains: Make references to shows.The more obscure the better. Confuse the Captains and you win a prize.
RP game: The best RPers that make us laugh or we enjoy reading get prizes.
Party: Have a party, eat food and dance to music.

((So, we have some activities for those of you who are here that won't really efect how the game goes. PMs won't be returned until the game starts on the 27th of December.

"Smeg, that was one hell of a night, slept for three days!"

Lave glances around and levers himself into a chair. He picks a cold congealing half eaten vindaloo from off the floor and eats it for breakfast. Licking the congealed sauce off his fingers he waits for the festivities to start once more.

Thinking it odd that people just vanished, PC, skulks around in the shadows of the ship for a few days trying to find something to amuse himself. The first few days yielded unsuccessful searches, but on the third day,the motherload was found. I somehow stumbled onto a mysterious secret cargo hold with a password of Too Many Twinkies. I found it quite an odd password, but oh well. Inside said hold were all sorts of gizmos, gadgets, and VR devices. Not to mention a huge quantity of food. For the next two days, I did nothing but spend my time in there playing with all the cool stuff. But today I heard voices, or so I thought, so I poked my head out the cargo hold, and lo and behold, there was banjo1985. I hopped out of the cargo bay, and went to talk to him. But as soon as I stepped out of the area, there was a large *pop* and strange door was gone. Disappointed about not being able to get back into the wonderland of goodies, I went back to my room. But upon returning to my humble abode aboard our lovely ship, I found a trinket. It was a perfect little model of our very ship with the phrase "I found the cool super-d-duper nifty wondrously mysteriously secret cargo hold and all I have to show for it is this small, but really neato model".

Noticing, and quite enjoying the recent lack of those annoying shop announcements Fin realises that it must be a sort of festive season for automated voices and robots seeing his friend Fullbladder Fin remarks...

Hmm I have never heard of a robot holiday but I'll be damned if there isn't any money to be made from cashing in on one on the new world... That is if the laws on the new world aren't the same as the old one!

Crawling on the floor, scratching at the carpet, and running at intangible spots of light. That kitty was bound and determined to do just about anything that could be destructive in some way, shape, or form. MK hopelessly and frantically followed his new friend everywhere on the damn ship that wasn't locked, just trying to keep it out of trouble. Sure, he could just pick it up, but the bloody bandages served as a testiment to that excruciating mistake.

"Oh, come on... no, NO NOT ON THE CONSOLE!"

MK lept to remove the cat from a piece of equipment he didn't recognize. He threw his arms out, and was greeted with cold, hard metal. That metal next got acquainted with his face, and MK was on the floor.

"Ugh.... somebody get the license plate of that console. I have just been violated." The comfortable view of ceiling greeted him, until two eyes peered at him from over the edge of the console... it seems kitty decided it was going to jump back up there, much to MK's dismay. A thought, one that was depressing but laughable came to him. He had the fortune to get this cat, which despite the shortcomings, he was close to. Yet, the cat seemed to have even greater fortune. "It's like.... whenever I win... you win. You know?"

[Dr. Bath]

". . .back when I was in Diaspar, everyone listened to me," mutters preacher Bath, "they understood the importance of the coming of the intersteller-whale. Not like you bunch of uneducated Belgians!" Bath starts waving a stick with a fake quantum gemerald on its point around, attempting to poke all and sundry until they start listening to him.

Soon getting bored, and now slightly dejected since he failed to purchase a kitten's corpse or the key, starts wandering about the ship. He finally ends up in the engine rooms. Well, outside anyway. "Where is everyone! I want to see if your bistromath engine is up to the job of chasing the Great Whale! bunch of inebriated, inbred, infidels. . ." Preacher Bath pokes the lock on the engine's door for a while, before wandering off again into the depths of the ship.

After all of the strange events, the lights throughout the ship dim, indicating the turn of night to help aid in the human body need for sleep.

Night 2 Begins NOW!

The SHop Voice echoes tthrough the ship, "Night has ended and the artificial dawn shall rise soon. There has been very little activity from anyone at all tonight. Furthermore The Shop has received more items to sell. There are now one of most items and a new item in stock. There are now EMP guns for sale at 4GC each.
"Dr. Bath and purple gelatinous cube of Doom won our Christmas contest and get first pick of any item they wish from The Shop. Only after these two have chosen their prize will The Shop be open for business."

As the various people awaken from the long night, some of them the bit the worst for wear, a headcount of the survivors takes place. Quickly people realize that Korias is missing! Yet there is no mangled corpse, no signs of a explosion, no technobabble of how he was zapped into another universe populated solely by Amazons dressed in skimpy bikinis.

Before panic can set in, a hologram of the Chief Medical Officer appears in the middle of the gathering.

”Is this cursed thing on? It is! Good! Alright you fools, Korias got hurt, he is under my tender treatments.”

Screams of agony can be heard in the background.

”Since you all insist on killing each other for no good reason, and I have a stash of good booze back here, you won’t be able to find me nor should you even try! Korias will stay here until he is recovered. Well, bye folks!”

The hologram sputters and fizzles before finally vanishing, leaving you all with a tidbit of information. Now that that little story has ended, you all get started on what is important, like androids.

Androids?

Yes Androids. There is one on the ship. And he was scanned during the night. And even a 2-year old on “Are you smarter than a 2 year old” knows, you do NOT scan an android that was sitting happily in its own little corner. As such Keris Rain suddenly runs down a corridor a super-human speed once his internal systems have detected that he was scanned. What will his loyalties be? Will he side with the creators or the aliens? Only he knows the answer, and anyone else he decides to confide to.

Sadly the android crisis counselor was killed in an unfortunate accident involving the gravity generators, floating mines and space bumblebees, so he is of no help whatsoever.

Automated systems kick in, and The Shop starts manufacturing several EMP Guns which can be used to go and hunt down the android.

Summary of Events

• Korias is being treated in the ship medical bay due to real life issues. He is immune from auto-lynchings and any actions.
• Keris Rain was scanned as the Android, and thus activated!
  • EMP Guns are now for sale at 4GP.
    • This item was created during the android revolts. Using it gives you a chance to fry the delicate circuits of an android. Using this item takes up either a day or night action depending on when you use it as you try to track down the Android.
      • 25% chance of destroying the Android
      • 40% chance of destroying the Android if used with the personal scanner.
• The Shop Inventory has been updated.

Day 3 Begins Now!

((So my role is publicly revealed, people already know I can scry, I forget to use the key to scry, and anti-me weapons go on sale?! Not the best of nights for me.))

"Running, running, running!" Keris continued his breakneck pace through the ship, automatic self preservation routines kicking in. He glanced from side to side, looking for a safe place, preferably with EMP shielding.

MK woke up to the drone of the voice, telling him that such electric weapons were on sale. "Hm.... usable on androids. And I would need such a device? But... how would I get the money to pay for it?" He thought about it, and decided to take no action.... not yet.
