    Reym

    Predicting a fierce and near immediate retaliation, Reym was semi-prepared for the guard's vengeful responce. Catching the blade on one of his daggers, he was barely able to redirect the explosive force to one side. Only the sheer weight of the attack kept him from deflecting it entirely; as it stood, the longsword still caught him in the shoulder on its way down. Wincing as the blade seared down the side of his arm, he still thanked his lucky stars that it had not landed a more substantial blow. Then, noticing that the guard was painfully vulnerable as a result of overextending his attack, he struck out with full force against his exposed forearm in hopes of making him drop his weapon...

    As the guard reacts on Reyms stab from behind, Seribro makes use of the opening and tries another strike at the mans side.

    The blade makes a clean connection, but misses the force to deal true damage, which isn't really a big deal since they do need the guard alive.

    Even in the midst of battle, Reym still caught the guard's remark. 'Heretic feykin?' Just how much had the Church found out about Renkinna? And on top of that, how much had they simply made up? The guard wheezed for breath, and Reym threw a concerned glance over his shoulder at Seribro. We need to take this man alive.

    No longer attacking with his blades, Reym tightened his fists a round the handles of his daggers and punched the soldier in the face.

    Seribro replies as his face turns grim. He parries another slash of the opponent and then swiftly steps in to deliver a final crushing blow against his helmet

    The blade connects perfectly but Seribro manages to hold back just enough not to split skull in half. Never the less, some blood is most most certainly seen and a light concussion is not exactly unthinkable.

    Armors lend damage conversion, remember? Since he is wearing a chain shirt, 4 points of every strike are converted to non-lethal damage. But it also allows him to ignore 4 points of non-lethal damage. This said, hacking at him with the sharp of our blades will not kill him but merely render him unconscious while battering him with pommels and/or the flats of our swords won't bother him at all.

    First off, so effectively, except for my sneak attack, I've been doing non-lethal damage the whole time? Interesting. Of course my character wouldn't know that or act on it, but until I level up and get a strength modifier on my daggers I can do almost as much damage unarmed as I can otherwise.

    Second, according to Skjaldbakka's post in the other thread, italics are supposed to show internal thoughts, so your character wasn't meant to hear that.

    Reym thought about it for a moment. I don't like this. This man certainly doesn't look like a tracker. Wherever he takes us, we won't know where we're going until after we get there-- for all we know, he could march us into an army outpost. Then again, if Renkinna was doing something in the forest, we need to know about it. Reym nodded reluctantly. "You're going to show us, but we do it our way." He said, an edge of steel to his voice. He nodded at the cobbler. "He's keeping your boots. If you'll recall your earlier comment, 'I'm not about to go traipsing about barefoot in the rain looking for some feykin'? Well that's exactly what you're going to do. If you are telling us the truth, then you will live to come back for them."

    Finally, they arrived. "Good. What was she doing?" Still trying to be wary of a betrayal, Reym still couldn't help his curiosity. This was still a pretty out-of-the-way place, and yet Renkinna had needed something here. Knowing full well the little halfling's plucky underground resistance against the church, the rogue held both personal and practical interest in what she might have been doing...
