Isle Of X Design Contest - Entry Thread
This is the Entry Thread for the contest noted below. Please post a link to your contest here (make the link read what you want to call your entry), and note if you are a rookie.
The Isle of X Contest
The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle...
"The Ballad of Gilligan's Island" by George Wyle and Sherwood Shwartz
This month's contest is to describe and design an forgotten, uncharted, or otherwise unknown and mysterious (to the rest of the world) island. Who lives here? Why is it unknown or mysterious? What kinds of adventures might newly arriving heroes find? What treasures does the island hold?
The contest begins with the posting of this thread and will continue until Noon, January 15, 2008 (Eastern US Time). Please remember, as always, to follow the general contest guidelines.
The Rules:
1.) You will be creating an island, some interesting inhabitants, and some treasure , and a secret of the island.
2.) Your entry must include the following:
- A description of the island (geography, flora, fauna, climate, etc.)
- A description of some interesting inhabitant (or inhabitants) native to that island (with stats, if appropriate).
- A description of some valuable treasure on the island (with stats, if appropriate).
- A description of some secret of the island (with stats, if appropriate).
- Entries should be set in the standard D&D cosmology, and not any particular setting (e.g. Forgotten Realms or Eberron.) Try to avoid referencing non-core/SRD books where possible, but obviously, this contest may require some reference to non-core material.
- Each new entry should be started on a new thread here on the Contests board, dedicated to just that set of items and the discussion of it. Put the tag [ISLE] in front of the title of that thread. Any thread without this tag will not be officially entered.
- Post on the Entry Thread to let the mods know that you have completed your [ISLE] entry. We'll try to keep a post with all the entries listed in one place for easy reference. This post in the Entry Thread is where you must post a link to your thread to be officially entered.
- Best Island
- Best Inhabitant(s)
- Best Treasure
- Best Secret
- Funniest Entry
- Rookie Award
If you are eligible for the Rookie award (this is your first entry in an official GitP Design Contest) please note that in your post to this thread. Otherwise, everyone is eligible for everything else - no need to indicate anything.
This is the Entry Thread. Post only entries here; if you have questions, please post them in the contest thread itself. Good luck!Last edited by Roland St. Jude; 2008-01-31 at 05:24 PM.

The Great Southern Island is complete. There may be a few additions or edits here and there before the contest ends, however.

Re: Isle Of X Design Contest - Entry Thread
Like the others, I may tweak or whatnot, but I don't think there are any major changes coming. This is my first entry in an official contest.

The Sovereign Military Republic of Hala welcomes all to her beautiful shores...just be careful where you stick you nose. The Knights are still trying to clean up from last night's mayhem...
I do belive I am as finished as I'll get. I might get around to adding in a few additional magic items (Cael's Warhammer, the Sithak idols), but aside from that I'm set!Last edited by TARDIS; 2008-01-14 at 03:58 AM.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I am a rookie, don't be too harsh.Last edited by polaris1110; 2008-01-14 at 12:22 PM. Reason: Rookie
Through me the way into the suffering city,
Through me the way to eternal pain,
Through me the way that runs among the lost.
Justice urged on my high artificier;
My maker was divine authority,
The highest wisdom, and the primal love.
Before me nothing but eternal things
were made, and I endure eternally.
Abandon every hope, who enter here.

Re: Isle Of X Design Contest - Entry Thread
The Isle of the Winds is done. Well, as far as I can manage in time for the contest. =) My little table lists the things I didn't get to.
Oh, I'm a rookie. Maybe. Not sure if being in one GITP Monster competition in the Homebrew Design (not Design Contests) forum counts as not being a rookie. =)
