[Bonecrusher Doc]

Balthazar and Sharn walk shoulder-to-shoulder with the captive gnome back toward the guildhall, after placing a cloak around him so that his bonds would not be visbile to the casual observer. Gylvin walks a little to the side and ahead of them. Shiela finishes cleaning the boat, putting everything except the anchor and ropes inside the chest. Iva watches the man on the nearby dock for a moment, who stops supervising the loading and walks from the dock to the street, in the direction of the shipping office. Jeff watches everyone else, deciding what he wants to do next.

Jeff is escorting the gnome with Gylvin, Sharn and Balthazar.

Bruce meets the four male members of Team Cougar at the front door and, after they quickly explain why they have a bound gnome with them, walks them around the outside of the guildhall to the stable in the back, where he has prepared individual cells for prisoners, complete with shackles, in the unused horse stalls.

Bruce (quietly, but concerned)
"It's warm enough now that Bil can stay out here to watch them until we get a dungeon built. I'm giving him a raise. Tell me again, where is the rest of your team?"

"Iva and Sheila stayed to discretely remove any evidence and get rid of the boat. They should be back in a little while."

whilw waiting for the bard to do her thing and find a buyer for the boat, Shiela begins meticoulously tying the spare anchor to the length of rope on the side, untying and re-tying to make sure everything is as perfect as she can make it

Not to make a show of anything, Iva unties her cloak from her waist and returns it to its proper use. She then makes her way to intercept the man before he can reach the shipping office.

"Excuse me sir. I was wondering if perhaps you might be able to help me. You see, I am looking to sell a small fishing vessel. Its craftsmanship is superb, so I have been told. I noticed you were overseeing the loading of cargo for those other ships, perhaps a man of your particular talents might be interested in purchasing my vessel, I only ask for the most reasonable price." Iva approached the man, speaking in a sweet innocent voice, subtly allowing her body to help catch the eyes and ears of her 'victim'.

The man looks a little surprised at being accosted for a moment, then pleased when he sees who is talking to him.

"Well, it just so happens I am in the market for a small boat - that one over there? Oh yes, it suits my needs, how much are you asking? Hm, that looks just like Marty's boat, but he's been away for a month now. If you don't mind my asking, why are you selling it?"

Iva has no idea of the actual value of the boat: Appraise - (1d20)[8]. Iva will need to make a Bluff check if her next action is telling this guy a story.

"After you left, the City Guard showed up. Someone mentioned your little scuffle outside the gate. We explained ourselves, and they took our side but insisted on taking the ruffians we were holding here. I didn't tell them about you taking Klep with you, and I don't think the other toughs will mention him either. Speaking of Klep, what did you do with him?"

Bruce and Bil lock the gnome in a stall not adjacent to the stall where the woman is shackled and sleeping. Bruce hands Gylvin a dagger.

Bruce
"Oh, the woman had this on her."

The slender dagger is ornamented at the hilt with some sort of red gemstone surrounded by a swirl of inlaid gold.

Sheila had him. Other than that I don't know but I don't think we have to worry. She can be... persuasive. Are we expecting more trouble from the Town Guard?

Doubt it. Dont think anyone could point out that we were the ones that caused havoc on the docks...

But the dagger...it seems that a person with a great craftsmanship skill created it. It may even be a ceremonial dagger rather than a combat weapon...

Hope you don't mind if I god-mod your characters - didn't want you to have to repeat the information I just gave you. If my delivery of their lines isn't in keeping with their personalities, just go ahead and post what you think they would say and I'll strike through their quotes here.

Sharn and Balthazar examine the dagger.

"It's shaped like a ceremonial dagger - like a sacrificial dagger, actually, with its long, narrow blade. I don't recognize the decoration on the hilt as being identified with any particular deity that I know of, however.

Balthazar takes the dagger from Gylvin and hefts it, feeling its balance and looking at the reflection of light on the blade. He runs his finger across the edge of the blade, and touches the point - drawing a tiny bead of blood from his fingertip. He then looks closely at the hilt.

"This is the work of a master weaponsmith, and that little red chip of a gemstone is actually a ruby! A merchant could sell this for 400 gold pieces."

*whistle*Four hunderd gold pieces...now thats what I call great stuff in small packages...but I still think that we should not sell it...it could be a lead to something else...maybe we should ask Iva if she knows anything about items similar with this one.... After some more pondering...This thing could be bigger than we think...cultists that want to take out the guldmasters, kill the doge...and even sent Bridgeport into political anarchy...we need to question the woman...when she awakes.

I don't have a problem with the DM "god-modding" in this instance, since it prevents me from needing to repeat the information. The only nitpick is that he wouldn't say "I think.." Either he is sure, or doesn't say it. Also, as long as I'm OOC: I just want to say "yay" on this PbP game's success thus far. This is the fourth game I've joined, and the only one of those four games which has gone past three pages. Also, it is sometimes hard to post as Balthazar because he is much smarter than I am. Also, holy crap. I just realized I'm playing D&D with people in Texas, Iraq and Romania, and I'm from Michigan. The internet still amazes me sometimes. Anyway, back to D&D:

Yes, I suppose they may well be some crazed cult of anarchists, but they're probably a much duller sort of criminal. In my experience most members of the criminal element are cut-throats and simple-minded thieves. I doubt they are that complex. Still, I concur on the dagger..it could pay to learn more about it. Besides, if it is some sort of criminal insignia it might bring in the authorities. Speaking of which, did our activities at the dock cause any..unpleasantness in that regard? You mentioned the guard was over and took the prisoners, did they seem irritated?

Gylvin double checks his gear to ensure that he's got everything he needs. Once he's ready, he turns to head out the gate & go back to the dock area.

"Ok Jeff, let's go. I hope those two haven't gotten into any trouble. Iva's probably flirting with the sailors and Shiela's shouting commands to the sun, ordering to not even think about setting until she's done."

Jeff & Gylvin head through town back to the dock area. When they reach the warehouses, they pause before entering the area in order to get a good idea of the current situation.

I'll go put away my gear a moment. Libraries usually have comfortable chairs or couches. I could go to the library right away if you'd be willing to carry the books. I can do some reading while I put my feet up.

Balthazar then goes up to put away his equipment, while muttering in Dwarvish about his corns.

Surprisingly, Shiela has no idea how much they should ask for this boat. If anyone else wants to appraise the boat it will take a full minute to do so.

"Of course, well as I'm sure you can tell, I'm not from around here. I was traveling with a troupe of performers for a while, but this led to that and I left the troupe. A gentleman who happened to be nearby at the time, offered to take me with him as he was traveling down the coast to meet with some of his old traveling partners. He caught some strange disease along the way however and is no longer with us today. He gave me the boat so that I might get here, so here I am and I don't need it anymore, nor do I have a place to store it." Iva effortlessly recited her tale.
