1) You was primarily plural, yes. I was simply expanding upon your statement. And nominative isn't informal at all, contrast I (nominative) and me (objective), and they (nominative) and them (objective).
With these forms, we get:

WTwU takes place 4000ish years before FFF and the shades are apparently 5500ish years old. You bet they're around.
Although in this time period, the Shades are actually residing in the pits for their own protection.

Xeno was able to guess that Rand fears losing his tail, that Torn is afriad of kobolds, and that the princess fears undead, but not that Kay might be afriad of dragons? I don't think that's a very big strech of imagination. Dragons can be pretty scary, I would guess.

It's not about the thing you fear, it's about the thing you fear you might become. Xeno doesn't know why Kay fears becoming a dragon.
