Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
Elida
"Oh look, these are old!" Elida traces a finger over the runes eagerly. "I haven't seen them for a long time. I think." She seems rather absorbed in them, peering at them and muttering to herself.

Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
Gloria Blackblade
Shaking herself from her introspection, the Aasimar examines without touching the heavy chains sealing the gate.
"So strong, you can't get through it,
So high, you can't get over it,
So wide, you can't get around it,
Oh, devour my soul.
Reciting this short dirge, Gloria turns her entrancing gaze towards the top, sides, and then bottom of the gate.
So low, you can't get under it.
Folding her hands in front of her, Gloria speaks a short syllable, and then sinks slowly into the ground, Melding with the Stone and earth. If there's nothing out there, then what was that noise?

Elida
Elida continues to look over the runes, occasionally nodding to herself. She seems to have missed Gloria's disappearance, or at least not seen anything odd about it.Last edited by The_Snark; 2008-06-01 at 06:13 AM.

Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
You said it yourself, so low you can't go under it.
Whomever built this place seemed Hell bent (:3) on keeping people out.
As far as you can tell it goes down a great deal before you reach the end. Question that comes to mind however, do you feel you are prepared to handle this on your own? Or should you not find a way for your friends as well? The Necroswanson's Deviantart.

Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
Gloria Blackblade
Gloria rises out of the soil once more.
"Figures."
She looks at the spikes adorning the top of he gate glumly.
"And I'm guessing it's not as easy as flying over."
Experimentally, Gloria reaches forward a silvery hand and snaps her fingers. A sizzling black bolt of energy forms in her palm, and he hurls it with a flick of the wrist towards the cold iron chains binding the door, hoping to corrode them with a Vitriolic Blast of energy. If there's nothing out there, then what was that noise?

Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
As Gloria blasts at the chains they leap off of the gates attempting to grab her. Her quick reflexes save her however and the 90 feet of chain simply strike the ground.
Shortly after however they begin to seperate into smaller lengths, making strange symbols.

Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
Elida
The noise of the chains springing from their position gets Elida's attention. "Well! That's odd—are you all right?" she asks anxiously, scurrying over towards Gloria. She sees the metallic woman is untouched quickly enough, though, and the moving links of chain catch her eye and distract her from checking anyway. "Say... those are runes..."
She pulls a scroll from her pack and stands back so that she can see what shapes the chain is forming, consulting the scroll and muttering under her breath.

Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
((That's because it's a secret roll against a base DC. Kind of like Diplomacy, only the roll is usually out of the player's hands. But that's okay. You couldn't have failed the roll.))
Spoiler
The chains read, "Don't touch the headstones", or possibley, "Don't molest the dead" or even possibley, "Plant no trees here." Dwarven always was confusing.

Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
SpoilerAh, right- I'll let you roll it next time.
Elida
"It's a warning not to do anything to the bodies, I think. Or maybe not to plant trees and flowers. That would be a little odd though, because flowers are traditional for graveyards, aren't they? They were the last time I was in one."
"But anyway, the chains seem okay with us going in as long as we listen. Should we go?" She starts towards the gate, then stops almost immediately. "Oh, I forgot! You had friends you were going to bury, didn't you? Are you bringing their bodies?"Avatar by GryffonDurime. Thanks!

"Nope. Besides, if I was going to try and bury them, I'd need a bucket and a shovel."

Re: The Union of The Serpent, The Second Generation.
Elida
"I don't have a bucket either." She frowns at the great gates, as if trying to figure out how one might go about getting or making a bucket out of them. "But if you don't have their bodies, I suppose we don't need one. Come on, then!" Elida tugs at the gates, attempting to open them.Avatar by GryffonDurime. Thanks!
