The Thing: A Werewolf Game

God, I'm tired. I haven't slept for so long ...

It's the fifth day now. LeoMan died.

He was gone for a ... a few hours. So we looked for him. We found this note in his room. It said: "I'm going now. You all seem to think that I'm a monster. But I'm not. But I won't stay around to let you kill me. I'm taking the chopper and going."

We rushed out to the hanger, through the snow, which had picked up again. But he wasn't there, and the guards ... Ranna, Irbis and Eksar, they didn't see him. So we looked, but we couldn't find him. Then ... then the wind died down.

He was in the snow. He was lying face-down. Something had ... something had tore at his stomach, and his guts were lying half out. But it wasn't a knife. Too jagged of a cut ... more like a claw, like a bear's.

Like a Thing's.

We couldn't take the chance he might rise again. We dragged the corpse to the firepit and set it ablaze.

As we stood around, I looked at the others. Maybe it was because I was tired, or maybe just angry. Don't know what made me say it, but ...

"I know that I'm human," I said, loud enough for everyone to hear, "and I know that some of you are human too, because if you were all this Thing, you would just rush me right now."

"None of us are going anywhere until we killed it, or it's killed us. We're not leaving this place. We can't risk it making back to the main population. 'Cause then we're all dead anyways."

"Either this Thing dies ... or we do. There's no middle ground."

Some of the men protested. "It's not up for debate," I said, and stalked back to my quarters, mentally noting everyone who protested.

I'm sorry, everyone. I'm so sorry.

I'm done with this damn tape recorder. Who cares anyway? Who cares.

LeoMan was lynched. He was a Grunt.
Night 5 will now begin and will end on Thursday at 10 p.m.

"it is decided then, we stay and hold this thing with us...this might start pointing fingers at me, but...since we are staying, it would be good to blow the last chopper, if the thing can enter in human bodies, they might be able to get anyone with knowledge to fly the helicopter and escape from here...just my two cents, either lynch me or blow up the bloody helicopter"

Eksar had to say it, his priority is avoid the thing to reach the rest of the world, but in the end, he thought it's better to die like a human than infected by the thing, his right fist is white, he clings to the crucifix, but his face has no expression, except his eyes, deep, filled with despair and fear

[Shadowcaller]

*Shadowcaller that for a long time just have walked around talking nonses suddenly seems to have gained some focus again and is addressing the group by pointing at <random person>*
You are a thing...and you too *points at <random person2>* you are all things *his hands sweeps over the group*.
You are going to kill me will im sleeping!
I must hide...stay away from me! *shadowcaller is slowly moving away from the group but suddenly stops*
Wait..maybe im a thing too?! No it can not be so..
*All his strength seems to have left him as he begins to slowly move away from the group again*
((Crazy huh?))

[Mustiado]

--His eyes darting back and forth, Mustiado holds out a trembling finger--

"We haven't seen I'm da Rogue! in a while, man... what's her story..."

((My bad. I got my days and nights mixed up, obviously... um... sooo... What's new?))

[DemonicAngel]

((Mustiado, this is a night phase... no voting))

"Eskar... do you believe in hell? because I am not dead yet, and still, here I am.. in the middle of hell." DA says to Esker, smiling.
He then pulls out his blade, a long, shining, slim sword comes out of its scabberd on his back... it seems his specialty is blades and the such.. on the blade, there are some writings.
"Blade with whom I have lived, blade with whom I now die,
serve right and justice one last time, seek one last heart of evil,
steal one last life of pain, cut well old friend, and then farewell..."
he walks away from the group, his sword still unsheathed, and he stars to swing it in the air, practicing.

[Gnomish Wanderer]

Gnome rubs her eyes as she walks into the room. "Uh..." she moans, "What happened?" She groggily stumbled toward the rest of the group and sat down. "How long was I sleeping?" Suddenly she eyes the warm embers in the corner and she jerks up. "What was burned? Did someone else die?"

(Yeah I've been away from my computer for a week, luckily I wasn't autolynched. Bloody internet!)

[Eita]

Eita sat in front of the coals, horror filling his eyes. "Why didn't I believe you...? The Things may have killed it you but it might as well have been me... It seemed so obvious that it was you... Forgive me LeoMan...." he mutters as he enters the fetal position, rocking back and forth with his gun in his hands. "Forgive me..."

[FoE]

We stalk our prey, moving on cat's paws along the corridor. It does not hear us as it stands facing the doorway, one of the rifles in its hands. This one acts mad, but we have smelt its fear. It does not like being in this place, surrounded by dark and cold, waiting to die ...

Then, as we get closer, our minds touch each other, and we realize that we are thinking the same thoughts as this guard. Instantly, elation fills us! We have found another of our kind! Another part of our body!

He turns and drops the rifle to see us towering over him in the dim light, well over ten feet tall and a mass of writhing tentacles and fanged mouths. The Thing changes as well to mimic our form, and for a time we stand in the freezing cold, chattering back and forth in a language that was ancient before the first humans walked the earth.

Another night, and another life claimed in this hellish place. God, will this horror ever end?

Bushranger was killed last night. But it was a mundane murder this time around; he was stabbed in the chest with a knife, the blade piercing his heart. There was no evidence of burning or unusual wounds, so it's safe to assume that neither the Assassin nor the Things killed him.

I call a meeting in the rec room, but there isn't much of a point. None of the men will confess to killing Bushranger, of course, though there is plenty of finger-pointing. Morale is pretty much in the bucket right now; some of them, like poor Eita, look like they're on the edge of killing themselves, and DemonicAngel is quoting some crazy cartoon about dragons. Eksar Lindisfar suggested that we destroy the last helicopter, but he was shouted down by several others. Could they be Things?

They were all shouting and arguing when I left in disgust. Someone else will die today, no doubt, though I can hope they at least get one of those Things.

In my quarters, I find an unusual note.

"Captain, you do not know me. Do not try to find me. I am one of the Psi-Nine, the ones who are hidden amongt you. I will tell you now: Bushranger was not killed by one of your soliders. He was one of us, and he was murdered by the Assassin, the one who can conjure fire as easily as you or I can take a breath. Trust no one."

Killed by the Assassin? If that's so, why didn't he use fire to kill him? And why are these ****ing psychics killing each other off?

Questions upon questions. It makes my goddamn head hurt.

The Bushranger was killed by the Assassin. He was a Telepath.
Day 6 has begun and will now end on Monday at noon, Mountain Time.

Greg the grunt is not a happy grunt this morning. Bushrangers night screams have affecetd his sleep. Greg pulls out a pistol and aims it at Onasuma.

It seems that he can't actually form words whilst have to remember to breath at the same time.

Ominous!, his name is far to similar to mine. It starts with the same letter, and has an "S" in it. Clearly this means he is a thing, then again, we all things, arent we? As in objects, not scary beast thingy's. That makes sense.

Freshmeat, nice attempt on trying to get my list of fellow things.

Ominous places the barrel of his rifle under his chin and pulls the trigger.

PS - Doseki, if you hadn't died already, I'd turn you in for converting me to a Thing. This was the first Mafia game that I didn't have a role and you took it from me. I wanted to roleplay a cigar smoking badass and you turned me into a cigar smoking Thing that got killed halfway through the game.

Also Face of Evil somehow is convinced that this game is balanced and that the Things can actually win even though they lack any way to kill others. To prove him wrong, I'm asking everyone to listen to Freshmeat and Mordokai. They or someone they know is probably a telepath. If they get lucky and kill the assassin soon, the game is won for the villagers and there is jack that the Things can do to stop it.

Vavaara looks in horror at the bloody mess left behind by the...THING... that used to be her fellow private, and felt the gorge rise in her throat. "Why... WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!?!" Moving over to the wall, she leaned against it for support.

*Vavaara points at Ominous*

[Eita]

A trembling finger rose of its own accord from Eita's arm, pointing at Ominous. His mind could not contain that which he had seen.

(Yes, character development in a Werewolf game. Shocking, I know.)
