Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
Yeah, the Lone Ranger's horse was named Silver. And saying "Hi, Ho, Silver...Away!" was something he said often, while on horseback and the horse rearing and kicking. Any other references you may have heard are callbacks to the Lone Ranger.

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
In a real d&d game, Roy would have at least ripped off a tree limb and made a club from it, which would have taken him exactly zero days according to the club's price.
But we all know why (http://www.giantitp.com/FAQ.html#faq7) the Giant chose not to do that. And it worked. So I'm not complaining. ;)

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
Ferrets belong to the same family as weasels.
For argument's sake, you could say that a skunk is a weasel, just as much relation.
Mind you ferrets bare a much greater resemblance to weasels... but no, they are not weasels in the strictest sense.
Hmm... it would be like saying a siberian husky is a wolf.

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
Is it just me or should the LJ Update post not happen until the comic is actually up.
Cause thanks to it I've been sitting here waiting for like 2 hours. Hooray."You can't just have your characters say how they're feeling! That makes me feel angry!!" - The Robot Devil

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
Normally Rich is good at giving us an update (when the comic will show...) or a filler comic saying that it's running behind.
Poor guy must have his plate full.

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
"LJ" stands for LiveJournal, the online clipboards/diaries that many people have.
Presumably Rich discusses the comic in his LiveJournal entries.Alignments are objective. Right and wrong are not.
Good: Will act to prevent harm to others even at personal cost.
Evil: Will seek personal benefit even if it causes harm to others.
Law: General, universal, and consistent trump specific, local, and inconsistent.
Chaos: Specific, local, and inconsistent trump general, universal, and consistent.

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
Going back to Roy for a minute, Fighters in 3.0 and 3.5 are proficient with all simple and martial weapons. I guess he was so attached to his ancestral sword that he didn't want to carry anything else. That combined with the fact that he couldn't find any weapons in the town would explain why he only has the broken hilt. Hopefully someone else in the party, like Elan, has a spare weapon he can borrow.

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
Don't demean Mondays! Monday is a perfectly respectable day of the week.
How would you like it if everyone went around posting "It's only Zherog", hmmmm?!!!
Seriously, here it's not even noon, and I'm jonesing pretty bad. Hope all is well!

I don't really mind the comic being late, it just builds anticipation.
I'm just wondering if Rich is alright. I keep suspecting the worst, like he was kidnapped by ninjas or something.Veeratars Unite!

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
:'( I was really needing something to laugh at right now. Rough, rough day and I have only been working for 4 hours and I have 4-5 more hours ahead with not another lunch break in sight. **Pouts
Maybe Elan's song will help:
Crush, crush, crush, their heads and make them go away. No one else will bother you! Enjoy the rest of the day. :)
Okay, that helped....Just a littleLook behind you!

Re: The Order Of The Stick: January
Oh, dear. Rereading Thursday's strip and suddenly I'm hearing:
"He needs a sword!"
"A sword!"
"His kingdom for a sword!"
Worse yet, this now means that I see Belkar but hear it pronounced "Peewee."
Blargh... some movies of the eighties should stay forgotten...optimization n : a source of missed opportunity
