Yeah, the Lone Ranger's horse was named Silver. And saying "Hi, Ho, Silver...Away!" was something he said often, while on horseback and the horse rearing and kicking. Any other references you may have heard are callbacks to the Lone Ranger.

In a real d&d game, Roy would have at least ripped off a tree limb and made a club from it, which would have taken him exactly zero days according to the club's price.

But we all know why (http://www.giantitp.com/FAQ.html#faq7) the Giant chose not to do that. And it worked. So I'm not complaining. ;)

Ferrets belong to the same family as weasels.

For argument's sake, you could say that a skunk is a weasel, just as much relation.

Mind you ferrets bare a much greater resemblance to weasels... but no, they are not weasels in the strictest sense.

Hmm... it would be like saying a siberian husky is a wolf.

Is it just me or should the LJ Update post not happen until the comic is actually up.

Cause thanks to it I've been sitting here waiting for like 2 hours. Hooray.

Normally Rich is good at giving us an update (when the comic will show...) or a filler comic saying that it's running behind.

Actually, weasels and poledogs(European Ferrets) share the same genus (Mustelidae) so they are closeley related. the big difference is the size and the fact that ferrets (Mustelidae Putorius) have stink glands that resemble that of a skunk.

"LJ" stands for LiveJournal, the online clipboards/diaries that many people have.

Presumably Rich discusses the comic in his LiveJournal entries.

Going back to Roy for a minute, Fighters in 3.0 and 3.5 are proficient with all simple and martial weapons. I guess he was so attached to his ancestral sword that he didn't want to carry anything else. That combined with the fact that he couldn't find any weapons in the town would explain why he only has the broken hilt. Hopefully someone else in the party, like Elan, has a spare weapon he can borrow.

How would you like it if everyone went around posting "It's only Zherog", hmmmm?!!!

I don't really mind the comic being late, it just builds anticipation.

I'm just wondering if Rich is alright. I keep suspecting the worst, like he was kidnapped by ninjas or something.

Oh, dear. Rereading Thursday's strip and suddenly I'm hearing:

    "He needs a sword!"
    "A sword!"
    "His kingdom for a sword!"

Worse yet, this now means that I see Belkar but hear it pronounced "Peewee."

Blargh... some movies of the eighties should stay forgotten...
