The ghost of the sushi salesman continues to watch the mass slaughter that is occuring in town wondering if anyone would be left alive by the end of this.

The population, quite restless at the rapidly diminishing numbers, gathers in their respective places in order to cast their votes in an effort to end this war before there is no one left to congratulate the winner.

The peasantry gathers and names their target, Mustiado.

Wait, wait, no not Mustiado! Zombie pixe, that guy over there, that's who the nobles want us to kill. Why aren't we killing him?

Because the rebels have threatened to kill anyone who doesn't vote for Mustiado today. Do you want to be that person?

The crowd doesn't even bother to gather today. The rebels have been very vocal on their plans and though they surprised everyone last night with their choice, tonight's target seems easy to predict. Eight people meet at the door as if some global alarm had awakened them all to the need to go and see what happened. They all went to the same door.

Not unexpectedly, the door was slightly ajar. One of those nearby knocked while he was entering and calling out the name of the victim, hoping beyond hope that he would've been spared.

A bowl of fish head soup sat on the table, uneaten. The windows were shuttered and latched, as though he was expecting to be targetted but vainly trying to protect himself from the ne'er do wells.

In a chair at the table, with a gun across his lap, was the slumped body of Shishnarfne. There was no sign of a struggle, only a sweating bottle of vodka and an empty shot glass.

Summary: Shishnarfne was killed by the Rebels. He was a Peasant and was Loyal.

Day 9 begins and will end at ~7am EDT on 3/14.

With his declaration of rebelhood, Zombie Pixe becomes the easy target of the nobels, who still struggle to hold onto their failing government. Knowing his execution is imminent, Pixe takes a suicidal lunge at the emperor. The emporer looks around frantically "Where are my guards!?" With a sinking heart he sees that they are being held at knife point by other supporters of the his demise. With his dying breath Szilard chokes out, "You'll never live through the day. Your execution papers have already been signed. Traitor!"

The guards eventually overcome their captors and are dismayed to see that they are too late....their beloved emperor has fallen. "Get the traitor!" they cry, grabbing the Zombie, who is standing, laughing manically, over the emperor's corpse.

"Kill me if you will," he cries. "None of it matters...THE REBELLION WILL PREVAIL!" he cheers as he is led away to the firing squad.

Summary:
Zombie Pixe was killed by the nobles, he was a rebel peasant.
Szilard was killed by the peasants, he was the emperor.

Night 9 begins, will end ~24 hours from now.

The night was expectedly silent. The remaining few, once again, gather to discuss who needs to be taken care of next.

Freshmeat, he seems to have a good idea of who's who and what's going on. Let's wait for him to give us a direction. After all, since he's claiming to be the heir and the Emperor died yesterday, he'll be in charge soon anyway. Where is he, anyway? He's usually early to these meetings.

Well, let's give him a bit longer. Maybe he's hashing things out with his advisors.

All agreed to just hang by and wait. And wait they did, until afternoon arrived he still hadn't shown.

This is very unlike him. Let's go to him instead. He must be terribly busy what with needing to make arrangements for the crowning ceremony and trying to fend off rebels at the same time.

You don't suppose he joined them, do you? I mean, after all that talk about loyalty, you don't think he switched sides do you?

No, no. Of course not. I don't know the guy well but he's been spot on about rooting these guys out for a few days now. I trust him.

The crowd murmurs an agreement and begins to make their way up the hill to where they expect Freshmeat's offices to be. What they find there was ... unexpected.

His offices are empty. In fact, they seem to be in the same state they were in the day before. A guard stationed nearby mentions that no one has come or gone from there since he started his shift before dawn.

The crowd, a little confused, moves down to where they are told the bedchambers are located. Arriving, they find two guards posted outside the doors.

Is he in there? Has he come out yet?

No, I'm afraid he hasn't. He gave strict orders last night to be on the lookout for rebels bearing messages, but last night's guards said that no one showed up.

I'm afraid we need to speak with him, now. Please open the doors and let us in.

The guard, now looking a little concerned, abides the request and opens the doors. Inside, Freshmeat looks to still be sleeping. The crowd closes in chattering a flurry of questions about who they should be lynching and executing today. He doesn't respond. The guard checks his pulse and finds none. He throws back the thick pile of covers to find that he's had a note pinned to his chest with a rather lengthy dagger. That or a particularly short sword. It's hard to tell, but it goes all the way through.

The note reads...

You'll never get the crown. Not as a loyalist, not as a rebel.

Summary: Freshmeat was murdered by Rebels. He was the Heir and was Loyal.

Day 10 begins and will end in ~48 hours.

See, the *smart* thing to do at this particular juncture would be to leave town... the penguin thinks, beginning to hurriedly cram some things in a large, brown suitcase. It would seem the barbarous have risen against us and, divided and suspicious of our brethren as we were, we were unable to quell the insurrection... He stares at the overstuffed piece of luggage for a moment, and grimaces.

Ah, screw it. The penguin grabs his camera and hat. I suppose it's too late for me anyway. I'd never make it to the city gate. Perhaps my compiled evidence will be of some use to a future cause which the fates have not seen fit to thwart so repeatedly.

PS hides his previously-gathered notes and photographs and then makes his way through the streets, trying as best he can not to be noticed. His one objective: obtain some final, incriminating shots of evnafets (who seems to be the front of the rebellion since the demise of their original leader) and any of his cohorts present and then somehow evade any pursuers long enough to stash the camera. What happens after that... ...doesn't matter...
