Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
I thought it was spelled out with letters to create a pun ie: the fact that she is a wild elf and expected to be a nature lover... unless I'm reading too much into the title (I didn't realize it was referencing a dice roll until the phrase appeared in the comic tho'...)
On an unrelated note, you have managed to make your characters so fresh looking while remaining in the style that it was kinda shocking to see those very OOTS-y goblins. So Kudos for that too.

Catharsis- I'm doing my own comics (link below) and was wondering if I could use your trees as a base for the forests the characters enter.

@Tired N' Drowzy: Of course you can use my trees as a reference if you like. I don't see what's special about them, though. They're certainly not very photorealistic.
I do mind copy/paste, though. That's just cheating.Catharsis

Actually they look ridiculously good. You can't really copy+paste a bitmap onto inkscape, though. What I would do is copy the picture, paste the bitmap, then trace the outline.

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
Issue 6 is going to be delayed a little. It is 3/4 done and should be online on Monday evening.
@Drowsy: You can do that if you like. But why not just draw it by eye? It's just a few clicks.Last edited by Catharsis; 2008-03-30 at 07:17 PM.

Wow. That surprised me. Nice comic! I like how you pay so much detail to background!

The landscape is so very... believable. The gradient is a very nice innovative touch and I really enjoy the level of detail in pretty much everything.
Keep up the good work.

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
Issue #6 is out. It took longer to draw than I expected, considering its rather low gag density. Ah, well.
Thanks for the encouraging feedback, everyone. @Chrono: Nice flaming avatar.
@CommodoreFluffy: I don't see the problem, the names are quite distinct.Catharsis

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
Wow. I'd just like to add that this is probably one of the best drawn OotS-style webcomics on the boards - I'd say it's between you and Anti-Heroes, with Failing Saves coming in as a close second. AH is closer to canon OotS style, but your stuff is so nicely detailed... aargh! I can't decide! Regardless, my art pales in comparison to your mastery of everything awesome. Of course, there's one comic that has yet to come (not mine) that could compete with you all, but then - I'm just biased.

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
WOW.
I just saw #6, and got blown away by how superb it is. This is one of my favorite pages so far--and with the quality of your work so far, that's saying something. Everything was done right for this page:
- The art seems even better than normal; possibly due to the variety of well-drawn expressions, and the great spell effects (especially the lesser orb of acid)
- Multiple amusing gags throughout
- Continuity with the optimized party theme, also seen throughout
- Spot-on timing
Is it bad that I'm looking forward to your next issue more than the Giant's?

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
There is a deep cosmic significance to all I do. Thanks for the pointer. I also corrected the "Rick" typo, btw.
@Chronicled: Kudos on identifying the lesser orb! Ginver's spell is pretty obvious, given her limited selection of flashy effects. Can you pinpoint the monsters, though?

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
Heh, I have a focused conjurer with that on his list. Having played a beguiler, and with one in the campaign I'm DMing (neither one a whispergnome, sadly), I couldn't miss Ginver's Glitterdust either. I do appreciate how the casters haven't used any ineffective spells, (and then there's the cure wand).
As for the monsters, I'll guess Lizardfolk, Ghasts, Giant Crocodiles, and Trolls.
I'm hoping that we get back to the party next strip. I think the "nameless" soldier couple needs another appearance, since their last one was great.

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
Speaking of effectiveness, a blob of acid is not generally considered the pinnacle of wizardry. However, it visually worked out better than other spells would have. Imagine a giant crocodile slipping on Grease! And sometimes a few HP make all the difference.

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
I would like to thank you for introducing me to yet another great series. Between OOTS, AntiHeroes, Failing Saves and Natural One (definitely not in any particular order) I can keep myself busy reading for quite some time. Your artwork is amazing please don't stop this comic. Think you're up to doing an avatar for me along the lines of my current avatar?

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
The orb spells are generally the most effective way to blast, though; as you said, sometimes a few HP make all the difference. It's handy to have one for an opportune moment.
I figured that his high Charisma was helping do the trick there. Darn.
Ah, trogs then.

I'm already really enjoying this. Keep it up!

Re: Natural One - an OotS-style webcomic
Very nice! I like. This is going to be one my Visit check list(Each time I'm on), along with Failing Saves, Anti-hero's and OOTS.
Also, whats up with (can't remember name) The wild elfs head/body relation?
Isnt her head to high, or is that ment to be? I thought Wild Elves didnt have high heads becouse that'd make their throats vulnaruble(Spelling? Wrong, correct please) to wild animals attacks... Though in DnD that doesnt really matter............. In RP'ing though.
