Re: North's Maple Syrup Flavored Non-Alliterative Random Banter #95 Eh?
Scots are fine. I'm a quarter Scot. They have claymores. They'll be useful in the Post-Apocolyptia Europe.
Welsh will be removed. They'll simply become English and their countries will become a fully fledged part of England.
English will become the dominant race again as we rebuild the army.
And, sorry Rogue, but I know a lot of people who will discount England from Europe. We have our own currency, it sorta creates a breach.

Psh, Jibar. Everyone knows that London is going to be put on wheels and used as a mobile fortress of doom, consuming anything that gets in its way. Particularly East Anglia.

Anyone from England, Scotland, Ireland (both parts) or Wales doesn't really count themselves as part of the EU because we're not mainland. Or attached to the mainland in any way apart from the Eurotunnel.
And the currency. If I talked to 100 people only one or two would say EU.
Most would say British.

Re: North's Maple Syrup Flavored Non-Alliterative Random Banter #95 Eh?
I loathe the unification trend in Europe. I'm a European, yes, just as much as a Canadian is an American. I don't even identify as Dutch, I'm a Saxon and find it terribly sad that my people must be spread around under more than one country.

Re: North's Maple Syrup Flavored Non-Alliterative Random Banter #95 Eh?
In Canada, we still use coins for one-dollar and two-dollar denominations. Whenever I get a lot of them, I like to think of what we put our poor adventurers through, forcing them to lug around heavy sacks filled with thousands of gold pieces.

Re: North's Maple Syrup Flavored Non-Alliterative Random Banter #95 Eh?
If the D&D economy isn't already broken, it certainly will be once some NPC develops the concepts of double-entry bookkeepping, credit, and the bank note.
(Actually, I quite like the irony in having the adventurers form a company for the purpose of killing a dragon, attract investors, obtain their equipment on hire-purchase terms, and finally discover that a significant portion of the dragon's horde consists of shares in their own company.)

*shows up to play the part of tactical genius and MacGuyver for Jibar*
Haruki:
By your own definition "the action of Bathing" is a verb based on you earlier correct statement that Bathe is a verb.
Bath is a noun, as you said, but the way that you did is not how you'd describe it as such.
A bath is a tub used for bathing or the word used to describe a shower or submersion in liquid.
I gave by dog a bath. Gave is the verb. Bath is the noun (and what you gave it).
I bathed my dog. Bathed is the verb.
They are two separate words.Last edited by Shadow; 2008-03-09 at 03:09 PM.

Re: North's Maple Syrup Flavored Non-Alliterative Random Banter #95 Eh?
Oh. Well, I don't think Americans ever use it that way. We "take a bath" or we "bathe"
@FoE: The U.S. has tried, time and time again, to subsitute 1-dollar coins for dollar bills. It NEVER WORKS. People just don't use them - either they think of them as "collector's items" or they're too heavy to lug around. There was the Susan B. Anthony and the Sacagawea...
Even our half-dollar coins don't see circulation. I dn't think they make them anymore...?

Re: North's Maple Syrup Flavored Non-Alliterative Random Banter #95 Eh?
The Susan B. Anthony coin is actually mentioned in a book I own, "The Big Book of Losers." (There's actually a series of these books — the Big Book of Weirdos, the Big Book of Conspiracies, the Big Book of Thugs, the Big Book of Death, etc.) The book states the Susan B. Anthony coin failed because it looked too similar to a quarter, so people often mistook one for the other, and it weighed down your pockets.
In Canada, we fixed the problem by making the loonie gold-coloured. Plus it has a loon on it instead of a moose, hence the name "loonie." Our "toonie" coin has a bronze polar bear in the middle of the coin ringed by silver. Plus, it's bigger than the loonie.
Although people sometimes complain about having too many coins, I find I never have more than six or seven coins in my pocket and the rest are bills. Really, the penny is more of a pain in the ass than the loonie.

Re: North's Maple Syrup Flavored Non-Alliterative Random Banter #95 Eh?
Our Sacagawea (Sacajawea? everyone spells it differently) is - was - gold-colored, but people viewed it as a collectable and no one ever spent it. If they had been really serious about replacing the dollar bill (seriously..does George Washington need to be on quarters AND dollars?) then they would have had some program to collect dollar bills and trade them out. Oh well.
My calculus teacher was trying, the other day, to figure out who was on all the money. It was harder than we thought! The 1-dollar bill is Washington, the 2 is Jefferson (though that isn't really in circulation), the 5 is Lincoln, the 10 is Alexander Hamilton, the 20 is Andrew Jackson (a terrible president!), the 50 is Grant (ditto!), and the 100 is of course Benjamin Franklin. As far as coins go, we've got Lincoln on the penny, Jefferson on the nickel, FDR on the dime, and JFK on the half-dollar.
pretty good huh?
Pennies are worthless, though, unless you want to use them as level counters in Munchkin.
