My science book from last year also had a weird moment. An exact quote from text on viruses:

I tried to read ASoIaF but I just couldn't get into it, I might try again, but I think I need some characters a little older that are similar to myself. Or something..

Also, my high school physics test had a great problem in it. I don't remember the exact wording, but its basically the guy has a barrel full of bricks and he is on the ground. He picks up the barrel and since its heavier than him, he goes flying up, calculate the impact force when the man and barrel meet. The barrel hits the ground and breaks, releasing the bricks (and xx kg's), now the man is the larger weight and falls to the ground, calculate the force when the man hits the barrel on the way down. Now the man is on the ground and lets go of the rope, calculate the force at which the barrel hits the man.

On odd textbooks: My high school chemistry book had a little snippet in one margin. It talked about a man, a lawyer, who wasn't very good at it apparently, so he decided to kill himself.
