Star Wars D20 - Freelancer(IC) Act 2

Daine chuckles at Kera. "Sure you will. All tools shall be in their magnetic holding locations until we're using them," he says with a slight grin as he unstraps himself and starts towards the hyperdrives. "Hey Nate, let's get this lovely party started," he calls out as he disappears down the stairs, a huge grin crossing his face.

Nate having missed the memo but willing to comply, says, "As you wish." With that he plugs into the computer terminal jack and a moment later the ship is filled with loud dance music. As everyone moves to cover their ears as a way to protect from the sudden cacophony, the lights start flickering on and off, strobing roughly in beat with the music.

Nate disconnects but the lights and music continue as he rolls about spinning, starting and stopping to the music.

Daine

Daine winces, covering his ears as he moves straight to the nearest console and tries to turn the music off, and stop the lights from flashing to it. As it dies, he turns and looks at Nate for a moment and shakes his head. "Not what I meant," he says. "Let's get started on the hyperdrive, the things we can start on, nothing that leaves us drifting in space..."

Nate spins around still dancing and pops out his buzz saw as Daine deactivate the music. After a tense moment, Nate retracts the deadly device and says, "We have not purchase any of the parts required. If you think your bipedal forms are incapable of performing the installation with the hyperdrive in its current configuration, you are welcome to adjust it. It is acceptable as is."

Nate were on are way to buy the part, are job is to make the perorations for the upgrade, we do what we can until we get the rest of parts.

Nate's head spins around to face Corran as his vocabulator spews, "I have completed the analysis. I will be able access every part I need to with the ship in its current configuration." His telescopic arm shoots out, spins around and such before retracting. His center eye zooms in on Corran's arm and says, "You may need accommodations given your fat stubby arms."

He rolls off and around a bit and then suggests, "Perhaps if you remove these walls and replace them with removable panels."

Corran reply in a flat voice, Nate you might want to learn not to insult a person that has a blaster on him, because you might find your self being forcible deactivated by it effects when you get shot. Any one looking a Corran will notice that his right hand is twitching very closely to his blaster. Still speaking in that same flat voice, yes Nate that is the type of work want to do for a preparation work, as he talks Corrans Anger starts to brake thought, Now Shift your Facking circuits into gear and come help us, or by all that is holy in this galaxy i will shot you.

Nate says, "I will consider learning that as requested. Perhaps you and Mr. Daine could write a subroutine to assist the learning process?"

Given a self destructive order, Nate says, "I am unable to move my circuits into my gear box." He does, however, begin cutting holes in the bulkheads to be converted to access panels. Between the blow torch and his power saw it is difficult to hear any of his remaining commentary regarding biological lifeforms.

Daine rolls his eyes slightly at the exchange, then chuckles and heads back into the engineering alcove to get to work.

Nate finishes cutting away the bulk heads and hands the massive hunks of steel and aluminum to Corran. Nate pauses and then says, "Please. Take these to engineering and have the edges milled smooth and wrapped. I'll install the hydraulics for the hatches and the electrical." Nate clearly wants the panel to look nice and not have any sharp edges.

With that he lets go of the massive heavy hunk of metal and gets to work, assuming the Corran and deal with it.

Corran Grumbles under his breath about Nate but dose as hes asked.

Once Corran returns, Nate has the openings finished and installs the panels using his telescopic appendage to open and close them several time. He then says, "It would be wise to determine the availability and affordability of the required parts before we begin to disassemble the hyperdrive. However, I am here to serve your needs. What shall I do now?"

Kera finds the ship is now about 20 minutes from landing, which is perhaps 5 minutes from entering orbit and the atmosphere. Now that she's a fair bit closer she can see a pair of Imperial Light Cruisers in orbit. As far as she can tell, there isn't much traffic in or out of Mimban. A large freighter landed about 10 minutes ago without being molested by the imperials. A small transport leaving the planet was stopped by the Light Cruisers and then returned to the surface escorted by 10 TIE fighters, which had been on patrol on the far side of the planet. She couldn't pick up any comm traffic which might indicate why it was turned away.

Daine stands in the engineering alcove, one foot set firmly besides the computer terminal as he works, shoving himself back against the opposite wall. "That's probably enough for before we land, you two," he calls out. "Yea, parts would be nice to have before we get started." On the screen he has the desired changes up, just studying what all needs to be done. "And its nothing against your abilities, Nate, just want to be able to work on them as well. If I don't know what's going on in there, then there's not much point in having me as an Engineer now is there."

Nate says, "Quite true. What will you do? I understand the speeder mechanics are in great demand on Mimban. With study and hard work you should be able to make a living."

Nate plugs himself in to recharge his power so that he can work straight through once the parts arrive.

Kera

Unconcerned with the Imperials - they aren't carrying anything illegal but a blaster rifle or two - Kera continues to fly normally as they approach the planet. As they get closer, she checks for a good sized city to set down and look around for parts, fighters, jobs...the usual.

Kera ends up flying around the planet two times with the scanner going in order to find a reasonably size settlement. The one she finally selects is looks like it'll have several thousand inhabitants, perhaps 10,000 if they favor large families.

It is late afternoon local time when she sets down. The ground is a rich deep brown color and most of the buildings are a deep purple. The city seems composed of these deep purple domes. The material is rough and pitted, sort of like stucco or something. The town is spread out, in and around a swamp. There are only a handful of buildings over 4-5 meters tall.

The town seems to have several large factories with their own landing pads and airspace restricted by TIE fighter support. Kera finds an open public spot on the south side of town with seems to be little more than a dry flat spot with a couple flashing lights. Two sides of the landing platform are open swamp water, one side is stand of gnarled, twisted trees with lots of vines and a deep brown color(a little lighter than the ground).

As the distant sun dips low to the horizon, leaving the sky a mix of purple and red, it is obscured by dark clouds. It appears that rain and perhaps a storm is on the way.

Kera

As she begins the initial approach tot he planet, Kera hits the PA, saying only, "Landing shortly, boys." She brings the ship in nice and easy, taking her time to land softly with the expectation that someone was disturbed by her announcement without enough time to put tools away. Better to just land neatly than to hear endless whining about why someone had to have their toe amputated.

Going down the stairs to the common area, she just starts talking, heedless of whether anyone can actual hear her or not. "Not really a promising looking place from the air, but you never know. Most important things here are parts for the hyperdrive and scaring up a job. Everything else is secondary, but we'll keep our eyes open for a fighter that we could scoop up and maybe store in the hold until we can get a docking ring installed."

After saying all that, she's actually interested in being heard by everyone, so she hunts them down, calling out "field trip!" as an enticement to get everyone to put down whatever they're doing and get out of the ship for a little while. For her part, she straps on her blaster pistol and zips up her flightsuit. "Nate, you're coming with us. Trill, we'll need to resupply on food, and that's your department. Either give me a list of stuff to buy or come along also."

After finishing putting the tools away, Corran grabs his rifle ands slings it over his shoulder and say as he also place his helmet on, I'm ready to go Captain.

Nate meets the captain and crew in the cargo bay ready to exit the vessel. Trill also joins the captain asking, "What is our food budget? Wandrella meat sounds interesting." Flick adds in, "Wandrella used to be exported from the system... maybe if we can find a source, we can export some."

Corran just Nods his head, but didn't say anything in reply.
