    Taking the paper Triss begins thinking things through in her head. Looters eh...I suppose that means a bit of roughing up will be in order more than likely. I don't like it much but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Besides Gregor wouldn't be to pleased if I went into a situation unprepared.

    After listening to her apparent partners in this business for a bit she decides that she should head out and grab her things.

    "Well, I need to head back to the stables and grab my things, you people can finish up with the logistics and I'll meet you back in front of the palace." Not leaving much room for rebuttal of any kind Triss steps out the door and heads back the way she came to pick up Ivy and head back to work.

    Once she arrived at the stables Erik Hindseth, her boss, looks a bit confused as she had just left not to long ago. Triss waves to him and continues to the back of the stable where she keeps her things. Seeing this Erik assumes that Gregor must be in town again and wanders off to go take care of some things.

    After giving Ivy a good rubdown Triss straps the leather barding onto her friend and grabs the lance and scythe that she has learned to use with veritable ease. Strapping the scythe to her back and the lance to Ivy within arms reach should anything happen Triss heads back to the palace to rendezvous with the rest of the newly appointed specialists.

    Anything the looters didn't get to they probably missed for a reason. Oh and one more thing, I have other squads containing the looting, so don't go out of your way to make trouble.

    With a nod to the priest of Forseti, Audax leads the way down to the staging area before the ducal palace, the rest of the group in tow. He makes some adjustments to his pack and crossbow, sliding a bolt into place and glancing about impatiently. "Women," he thinks to himself. "Showing up to a call to arms at the palace without the proper kit."

    Once Triss makes her appearance, Audax starts moving through town towards the O'Devard estate.

    Thelonious follows Audax anf the others outside of the palace. "Perhaps, friends, we should take advantage of this idle time to determine our course of action, should we encounter resistance from the looters. At the very least I would like a chance to talk to them before we initiate hostilities. I suppose if they initiate hostilities... well, that's not really my area of expertise. I'd like to think we're a competent enough lot to resolve that without any citizen fatalities."

    "To be completely frank, unless it is a large group that is keen to violent ways I doubt we will meet much resistance. Most are in it for a quick profit. However if you feel the need to try words I will not stop you, but neither will I hesitate to run down anything that I perceive as a threat. Hesitation is a warriors first and often last folly. Triss replied to the priest. Letting Ivy take her own speed and for the most part her own course Triss stayed near the back of the group letting someone else take the lead.

    Quietly, Jimiel says to Audax as they walk along "It might be a good idea for me to stay close behind you in case I spot or hear something suspicious like an ambush or the like, it the simple procedure I use in my caravan guiding." He then begins to get into step behind Audax.

    Audax slows half a pace and walks alongside the diminuitive ranger. "Wouldn't be too bright for me to charge down the road and become a magical pincushion, now would it?" he says to with a nervous grin, his eyes sweeping left and right as the party moves across Remly to the area west of the docks where the O'Devard estate is located.

    Audax continues to actively watch for threats until the party nears their destination. If such a threat beocmes apparent en route, Audax will stop and let the group move forward to give him some cover. If the group stops behind him, he'll take a few steps back to present a less interesting target.

    PS Is there an OOC thread?


    As the group continues on to their destination, Audax turns to Thelonius. "As I read our orders, we're to avoid dealing with the looters unless they come between us and our recovery of the Alchemist's fire and magic materials at the two estates. This is a border town, always has been, and we know how to deal with people that prey on our citizens. The scum that try to take advanatage of this attack will no doubt get what they have coming; doesn't mean it will be dished out by present company."

    Audax glances thoughtfully at Jimiel. "Sounds like the stuff might be hidden or otherwise difficut to locate once we get to the O'Devard place, maybe the other as well. Serene said the looters missed this stuff for a reason." The young man frowns. "Hope one of you is decent at locating stuff; unless it's a missing half pound of sweets in my pap's storeroom, I'm not much of a treasure hunter."

    Anthony follows silently after the others as they talk about how to proceed with this mission. He didn't particularly have any input that would be beneficial and so he kept his attention on the surroundings, through all the meditation at the monastery he had learnt to shut out distractions and so he partly did this to the rest of his new companions, instead focusing on any threats he could see or hear.

    You all are headed into the docks district when you notice that the sounds of the city are dying away. You approach the edge of the district and stop, for there is a 3 foot tall barrier of stacked wood blocking the road.

    As Anthony notices the movement to either side of him he stays looking casually ahead of him, not showing any outward signs that he had noticed. He speaks in a low voice, loud enough for his companions to hear him, but hopefully not loud enough to carry too far. "No sudden movements people, but we are being watched; I think an ambush is heading our way. Prepare yourselfs, they may mean us no harm, but I doubt it..." His warning to the others said he continues glancing to either of the houses, actively looking for more signs, ready to leap into action when needed to.

    A couple of tactical questions --

    About how far are we from the wall?

    How does the wall end? Does it abut buildings on either side of the road, or is it free standing?

    How is the wall constructed? Tightly packed posts, stacked logs, ramshackle pile of wood?

    It runs up against the wall
    Parts of it seem very hastily made, but other bits are quite neat and orderly stacked.
    Also, you see a number of crossbow bolts stuck to the buildings beyond the wall, all of which looked like they were fired from the barricade.

"Hold up there" he calls out to them, raising his empty hands in the air as a gesture of helplessness. He then stares at all of them, trying to count roughly how many bandits had just appeared.

    "Ok, Holyman," Audax utters under his breath. "Here's your chance to talk. But I would guess there is, as they say, a limited window of opportunity." Audax allows his crossbow to dangle from his left hand in a very non-threatening manner. His right hand is free to cast his Sleep spell if necessary. He eyeballs the situation, studying the area for a detailed idea of the tactical layout, including the locations of seen enemies, strange movements, and other threatening bits. He even glances back over his shoulder and into the sky for a moment, because quite frankly one never knows where danger could be coming from.

"I'm sorry, friends, but we are on urgent business and have no time to waste. You lot should take your crossbows and get down to the militia yard and volunteer. This is your city's hour of need, you should be helping to defend her, not creating roadblocks to waylay citizens. Have you no shame?"

    Grave news guys, something has come up and I absolutly wont be able to post at all Fri/Sat/Sun. Will be able to post early Mon morning however. I dont mind if the DM or anyone else wants to play him while Im gone just to keep the flow going, but I also dont mind if the DM would rather have an RP reason for Jimiel not participating in the fight, like him "fainting" for no apparent reason, and I promise to make extra RP and stuff when I get back to try and make up for it!

    Now that the priest had the presumed leaders attention Triss leans forward as if she where just giving Ivy a reassuring pat on the neck, but in reality she was reaching for the lance that was strapped to her horse's side....just in case.
