    <merchants tongue> "Heh. Ma'Keer, you ready to show off?"

    The others in the room, investigating the other nooks and crannies, see from the corner of their eyes something remarkable. Otheym repositions himself upon the saddle, and leaning far forward, kicks on the worm's hide in a different pattern than other commands he has used before. Ma'Keer slowly stretches up the side of the giant stone slab, and begins inching his way up, taking Otheym with him. While the speed is not impressive, the ability to stick to the sheer stone massif is.

    Once at the top, Otheym dismounts and approvingly pats the muzzle of his faithful companion and takes a look around.

    Upon arriving at the top of the stone slab, you can see several more of the runes. One on the bottom left is shining blue and blinking rapidly. The rune is about twice the size of your head, and is incribed in a square. Looking around, you see other runes inscribed in squares, as well as runes like the ones on the side of the stone slabs.

    "Hmmm. More squiggle, blue light, blinking. Need help - who know magic?" he finishes, shaking his head in the manner of all warriors who have had their fill of arcane things for the day. Is it too much to ask for something to hit....I hate magic. He takes some rope from his pack, ties it off to the saddle, and drops a line over for any that care to come up.

    Upon coming up, Jaz sees what Otheym had: several more of the runes. One on the bottom left is shining blue and blinking rapidly.     To Joesech:
    "More damned magic! Come!" as he lowers the rope. Once he comes up, he gestures to the lit rune, saying "Was blink, I touch. Now...."letting the rest of the words go, as Joesech can see the rune is staying lit.

    To Jaz and Joesech:
    Gesturing to the other runes in squares "Think touch? Make ... way put gems ... not one but ... <and then something obviously an expletive>". He ponders a moment, then holds up his hand, palm to himself, back to Jaz. He then points in turn to pinkie, ring, middle, pointer, and thumb, then shakes head in a yes-motion. He then holds his hand up again, and points to his middle, then ring, then thumb, then pinkie, then pointer, and shakes his head no. "You see?"

    Convinced there is no immediate danger, the elf slides his sword into its curved sheath and walks over to the slab on the ground. Thinking perhaps the runes are some form of magical language, he casts a spell that will allow him to read magic.

    After searching the room and seeing everyone else trying to figure out the magic runes, Mya goes over to a clear space and sits down. She pulls a bit of food out of her back pack and starts snacking. Mind as well let the people who know something about magic try and figure this out for now. I should eat while I can, I bet this is going to be a loooooong day.

    The circle of light stops abruptly. Marcus and Kyrsus, left in the forest by themselves look around to see what caused the change. However, at that moment, Kyrsus hears something running in the forest towards them

    Walking around the room, the elf's frustration begins to mount. The golem is talking a lot, but he is hard to understand with that accent.

    He squints, straining to understand. Pointing himself, he confirms the rider's suspicions while nodding.

    "Magic, yes."

    When the blue circle appears in the room, the elf draws his sword and darts through low in a crouch.

    From the bushes pops out John, a child from the village. He seems flustered as he looks relieved to see you. He speaks rapidly, Help! Guys from the city. Jermaine was trying to stop them but he got hurt. You guys are swordsmen right? Where are the others? You can barely understand but you get the gist. He grabs Kyrsus by the hand and tries to pull him towards the village.

    You find yourself in another room, constructed in the same fashion, but housing different structures. Large glass tubes line one side of this long room, containing dark shapes of beasts unknown to you. However, the problem at hand are two giant zombies lumbering towards you with huge swords from the end of the room.

    You are 200 ft away from the two zombies. The room is 60 ft wide and 200 ft long, 20ft tall. The symbol from the first room are periodically stamped on the walls opposite to the glass tubes. Behind you is a tall slab of stone with runes, which the top you cannot reach without jumping and climbing.

    The impression of panic coming from the child and mention of cityfolk attached to it confuses Kyrsus, but another part of him shoves his confusion bodily aside.

    "Go, I come." Kyrsus tells the boy, doing his best to communicate with what he has learned. Turning to Marcus, he barks. "Come!"

    Taking off after the boy, Kyrsus runs over what has happened to him since finding the gem. Things certainly have gotten complicated, but he was sure there would be a simple enough solution to it all, there always was. And right now, something quite simple demanded his attention.
