Beginners IC - Team 2

Just great. As if marching over the hills toward the port town of Seawell wasn't enough of a chore. Now it's raining, hard, and you're caught out in the open. A flash of lighting outlines what appears to be some sort of structure off to the west. It may offer shelter from the storm, but who knows what else it may offer?

Lackluster brown eyes peer out from under sopping wet brown hair into the sudden storm. Jamben didn't enjoy the thought of having to put off getting to Seawall for another day, but the idea of walking over who knows how many more hills in a hundred pounds of metal with lighting flashing over head didn't sound like a much better idea either. Lightning flashes over head and something to west is faintly illuminated in the background. Jamben tries to see through the wind and the rain when another flash of lightning lights up the sky.
"Stand here getting soaked to my nether regions or march off into the distance to chase shadows," ponders Jamben aloud. He waits for another flash of lightning then sets off towards the structure to the west. Ignoring the water sloshing around in his boots and the dampness creeping through his clothes, Jamben wonders how today could get any worse.

Jrack let out a rough growl. He had never liked the rain much. It covered tracks and hurt his line of vision. None the less he kept pounding through the deep rain. His strong dark green body made the trek slightly less grueling. But the idea of shelter was easy to jump on. "I'll gladly make camp in whatever that is, looks safe enough to me and we can check it out more once we get closer." Jrack started off towards the ruin.

This had been Sara's very own private mantra ever since the heavens had first opened, and now it was repeated even more vehemently as she continued to trudge through the sodden ground. Another flash of lightning illuminated the structure once more as she stared at it with keen interest. "Certainly it would be absurd to carry on in conditions such as this. But does anybody have the foggiest idea where we are? Reguardless of any answer she began to follow her companions towards the ruin.

A lovely storm, but shelter would be nice., Bek though while trailing behind the rest of the group. He shrugged slightly under the heavy rain, long used to traveling under such conditions as a young cleric of Fharlanghn, and jogged forward to catch up with the rest.

"No idea myself," he answered Sara. "But what do you reckon is that shadow supposed to be?"

You arrive in front of the structure. The building is long, somewhat narrow, and quite large; the entrance, which lies open, is easily 20 feet wide by 10 feet high. Sara recognizes the design type as a ceremonial tomb for soldiers killed in battle. Jamben notices some debris nearby that appears to be recently made, as if a large boulder or a stone door had been broken into much smaller pieces.

The storm is getting stronger. Rain is pounding down, and the claps of thunder follow almost immediately upon the flashes of lightning.

Snappin waits for the others to walk in.

"This place looks good, could be a good hiding spot for something nasty. But I doubt I could find any tracks anyway in this storm! Let's head on in and light our torches. Half-Humans first!"

Jrack slips into the door and draws his torch to scan the room

Entering the building, you find yourself in a large, open chamber. The torchlight does not extend to the walls on either side nor in front of you. However, with his darkvision, Jrack senses that the area extends to the sides just under 50 feet in each direction from the entrance, but he cannot see the far (northern) end of the room or hallway. He can also make out a giant stone door on the eastern wall.

The area near the opening is made of stone, that, while dusty, shows signs of having been painted or otherwise decorated a long time ago; but any detail to the decorations have faded away over the years.

Exploring the chamber by torchlight, it appears empty, and roughly square-shaped, just under 100 feet per side. There are three doors in all, all of the same stone construction, all shut. In addition to the one on the eastern wall, there is one on the western wall, further north, and one more door on north wall, directly opposite the way you came in.

The storm is right on top of you now. With each boom of thunder, the doors shake a bit, but manage to stay shut.

"Huh...Maybe a bunker or tomb of some sort? Looks like someone busted down the door fairly recently. I think we should watch out for...," Jamben realizes Jrack and Snappin weren't listening and had already entered. Jamben rolls his eyes and says in a sarcastic tone, "You know what, let us just walk into the suspicious structure and get our heads bashed in by bandits or bugbears."

Not wanting to stand in the rain any longer, Jamben enters also then takes a moment to strap on his shield and draw his morningstar. Jamben turns around and motions for Sara and Bek to come inside. "I still don't have the foggiest idea where we are but it is drier in here then out there."

Jamben still wasn't so sure about entering but he felt a little comfort knowing he had a wizard and cleric at his back and a big, meaty half-orc in front of him. The only one he didn't feel so comfortable with was Snappin with his...her...(its?)...curiosity possibly getting them into trouble. Not that he wasn't ready to jump to Snappin's rescue or anyone else's for that matter, but it doesn't hurt to know when and where to throw caution to the wind.

"I agree with Jambon. This design looks suspiciously like a tomb built for fallen warriors. Who knows what's down here..." Sara gave one last glance over her shoulder at the near vertical sheet of rain before hesitantly following Jambon through the doorway. Once inside she lingers near the exit.

Bek gives a short glance to the broken stone door and, while Jamben speaks, pokes around the remains for anything small enough that might fit in his sling. Turning to Jamben and Sara he says, " If you're right, do you think we're going to be walking into tomb robbery?" and follows them inside.

"So now that we're out ah tat mess what are we planning on doing? Moving deeper in this.....tomb I suppose? I've heard talk of them in this area before. I personally think we should make sure this place is okay to sleep in while we wait out the storm. Maybe we could check out the eastern door, it's never advisable to go straight I've found."

Jrack approaches the door and attempts to listen to anything on the other side.

You don't find anything small, smooth, and regular enough to be useful as a sling stone.

(( So... what's everyone doing? C'mon inside... you never know what you might find. Or is that vice-versa? )

"East door it is then. Though, it's strange that the outer door should be broken down when these are still here. Can we open them?"
