Bek sees that the door is just that, a door. Nothing special about it -- it is made of stone and isn't particularly small, but otherwise completely normal.

As everyone begins to look about, Jamben heads over to the door and stands next to Jrack and Bek. "You're right," replies Jamben when Bek points out the doors. "Personally, I don't feel like resting at the moment. I also don't feel like it would be a good idea to not see what's behind these doors if we do choose to rest here till the storm blows over."

Jamben sees if he can't partially open the door.

Snappin starts to examine the lock, and then he gets out her theives tools.

Sara sighed as she turned away from the paintings. The tomb must be very old for it to have faded so much. Sara casts a disinterested look over the others as they try to open the door, before she begins to sort out her soggy possessions.

Snappin makes no progress unlocking the door, even as it trembles with each burst of thunder. No one else sees anything of interest in the room -- this is clearly just an entrance to the structure; anything of interest must lie behind the doors.

Well, curiosity may have to be unfulfilled as you just wait out the sto...

BOOM!

A flash of lightning and a blast of thunder happen simultaneously. The force of the sonic boom disorients you for a moment as the doors violently shake and falls crashing to the floor.

As these sounds start to settle down, you hear a strange, high-pitched sound, almost like a scream, and a furious scratching noise.

Roll initiative.

Sara visibly jumps as the doors crash to the floor. She recovers quickly and fixes a bolt into her crossbow.

Jamben quickly steps back away from the falling door. The scratching noise makes him tense up and he is glad he had prepared his shield and morningstar when he had entered. Without really thinking about it, Jamben places himself between the open doorway and the others.

As the noise gets closer, you realize it is coming from the north, not the east, and that instead of a single creature, it is a group of rats, panicked by the storm. Normally, rats would flee from contact with larger creatures, but in their panic, they charge straight at you.

Snappin heads for the Western door.

Normally, rats would shy away from contact. But these, panicked by the storm, charge toward the group, splitting up as they spot targets. Snappin tries to slip away to the west, but finds two rats on him (or her), each of whom score a nibble. One of the rats gets a bite in on Bek as well, who finds himself, along with Jrack and Jamben, besieged with rats before they can really move at all. Jrack obliterates one of the rats. Sara plunks the first rat to come into her vision with a crossbow bolt. Jamben efficiently dispatches another rat. Bek swings wildly, and misses, almost whacking Jrack in the head in the process.
