You realize that there is a magical archway at the end of the hallway and you've all been ignoring it.

Oh, that archway? You thought we were ignoring it? no, we weren't ignoring it. Magic archways just don't interest us much.

Alexis

Alexis sighs, realizing that his earlier request for someone to look at the arch had gone unheeded. He proceeds over and inspects the arch (without passing through it) carefully to see if there is anything interesting other than the mist (glowing stones etc.)

A mist-filled stone archway lies at the end of the wide hall of colored spheres. Three large stones are embedded in the arch. Each has a different hue—olive on the lower left, russet at the top of the arch, and citron on the lower right.

Alexis

Alexis tries pushing the stones in the same pattern as Bok did last time. If nothing happens, he then tries the other 5 permutations.

OOC: How do you know it was a three press combination? What if it was six presses and Bok got it right on the first try?

(OOC) I didn't actually see that he had pressed six times, only three. This makes life a little more complicated, and Bok very lucky(OOC)

If the six 3 digit permutations don't work, Alexis commissions Winnet to begin working at all 720 of the 6 digit permutations, trusting her expert memory to develop a pattern and keep track of the ones she has attempted.

While she is working at this, Alexis returns to the lock and takes his time trying to pick it.

OOC: It's 27 & 729, you're assuming that each stone has to be pressed an equal number of times, and even then it's not 720. If it were six presses and each stone has to be pressed twice, it's 90. You're also assuming I'm not screwing with you.

It is approximately two o'clock, or maybe three, maybe four. None of you have a clock and there is no sun to help you tell the time. Alexis attempts the six combinations in the following order:
Olive - O; Citron - C; Russet - R;
COR;
OCR;
ROC;
ORC;
CRO;
RCO;

Ignoring the others, Bok wanders over to the illusory spheres and starts poking his head in each one, except the spheres that Alexis had found traps in (orange and bronze). After inspecting the illusory spheres Bok slumps down on the floor and takes a nap

Before Bok dozes of, Irazeg offers him a stale dinner roll.

The non-solid spheres which don't have doors behind them lead to tunnels.

OOC: I've noticed that about half our group has quit playing with us, all of our missing party members, with the exception of Salokcin (Alexis), have been on the forums within the past 48 hours. I'm finding it kinda boring when only a few of us are playing. So unless Makrish, Baxter, Winnet and Jalyn wish to continue playing is it possible that we could merge with the other group if they are having similar membership problems?

Alexis goes back and opens the door for the trap he disabled and peeks inside.

Alexis re-examines the door and learns there was nothing behind the door other than an arrow launching trap.

OOC: I've sent PMs. I'm thinking about what to do next.

Pausing briefly to ponder the significance of this, Alexis attempts again to disable the other door trap, and if sucessful, opens the door. He then uses his wand of Detect Secret Doors, first focusing on the wall/trap area behind the doors he just opened, and then around as much of the rest of the room as possible before the spell wears off.

Disable device1: (d20+18)[29]. If there are another two doors, in addition to two behind the spheres (not sure, I'm a little confused as to layout), Alexis will attempt to disable these as well. Disable device2: (d20+18)[19]. Disable device3: (d20+18)[24].

There were two trapped doors. Both of them are now wrecked.

Other than the small door behind the silver sphere, there are no other secret doors. All the other fake spheres are entrances to tunnels.

Alexis

Alexis turns to Bok and Moff, sees that one is eating and the other sleeping, and goes and joins them. He politely prods Bok back awake and asks them "So, it seems we can go through the Bright Blue, or the Black sphere. The silver one seems locked tighter than I can pick, and I don't want to go into the arch if there is still mist in it. Which one do you want to try first?"

Bok

Bok rumages through his pack and pulls out a coin, "Heads, blue, tails, black"
Bok flips the coin in the air,

Alexis nods, and proceeds cautiously down the corridor behind the blue sphere, dagger at the ready and keeping an eye out for traps.

From now on, can we assume when I say "keeping an eye out for traps" or something similar, that Alexis is taking ten on search, for a total of 33?

Bok gathers up his things and crawls into the tunnel behind Alexis, watching carefully for a sign that Alexis is stopping to avoid running into him.

The crawlway opens into a cluttered, forgotten 20-foot by 20-foot chamber.

Dust covers the remains of a wizard’s storeroom like snow. Fallen shelves, smashed crockery, glass shards from dozens of smashed potion vials, and corroded alchemical tools litter the floor. However, in the northwest corner of the room, something gray and shriveled sloshes within a grimy glass canister.

OOC: It wouldn't be in the spirit of the game for me to assume anything concerning searches. Also, the difficulty of the traps is entirely dependent on how willing you are to look for them. If I just assumed you were always searching, traps would be utterly worthless.

Noticing the movement Alexis signals to Bok, and then carefully proceeds towards the canister, dagger glinting in the pale light.

OOC: Yeah, I understand. No harm in asking though.

Not wanting to get too close to the container with his hands, Alexis switches to his crossbow and peers into the jar. "Did you feel that too Bok?"

Bok grins stupidly and says "Feel what?"
While Alexis is distracted with the grey thing in the jar, Bok moves behind Alexis and draws his adamantine dagger silently. Bok laughs manically.
