Re: Bay Area/California meetup
Actually I think you only need a visa if you're going to live and work in the other country. It might vary though, depending on where you're from. We'd love to have you though.

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
You definitely need a visa, even to just visit, unless both countries participate in a visa waiving scheme with each other.

or unless we conspire to smuggle you in the country using a speedboat(do not question its ability to cross the ocean!), a high speed police chase, several well placed explosives, and a helicopter to videotape it all in a highly action packed episode of the new hit show Smugglers in the Playground.
The title of the show is currently open for suggestion.

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
Well then!
I'm available anytime during the weekends. Shall we begin the plannings for another meet up?

Could indeed. Sounds like we have a few additional people, so we could do another general meetup kind of thing.

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
I might bring my boyfriend to a meetup sometime. He's from Oregon, and he's the sweetest, gentlest, all-around-most-perfect guy I've ever met. We only hung out for the last 3 days of Burning Man, and our meetup story is hilarious, serendipitous, and sweet, if anyone cares to hear it. He's 17, going into senior year, and hopefully will be getting into Cal or something close. He wants to move down here when he turns 18, a little before my 16th birthday. He's a skater/gamer, but isn't into DnD as much as he's into M:tG, and not into that as much as he is into me.
tl;dr smitten, brb.
But he's awesome.I play World of Warcraft, NeverWinter Nights, and First Life.

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
PF, if you don't mind, deets! Did they live far away? Or was he one of the 75% from the Bay?
I miss him so much already. We can webcam and whatnot, but it isn't the same as being able to hold somebody close.
- He's not afraid to laugh at himself.
- He's not afraid to laugh at me.
- He's not afraid to take chances.
- He teaches me things about myself. It turns out I'm a lot more scared of things than I'd like to admit. It turns out I basically have no real dating experience. It turns out that I shouldn't have dealt with you for as long as I did.
- We dislike furries and ravers.
- We like to wear clothes, unlike a lot of people at BM.
- He always is taking care of me, making sure I drink water, eat something, that my feet don't hurt.
- He's witty. He tricked me into eating by not eating unless I ate.
- He isn't afraid of what other people think of us. Which isn't much.
- He defends me, i.e. against the weirdoes with the cameras.
- We are really bothered by things that smell bad.
- If at first we don't succeed, we try, try again.
- Always prepared!
- Everything is put up front to begin with.
- He doesn't hide anything.
- I don't have to hide around him.
- He's the only person I can talk to about everything without him being freaked out.
- We think we're made for each other. Neither of us knew why we went to BM, and now we do.
- He doesn't care we live 10 hours from each other.
- He's willing to do anything to get what he wants.
- He's super sweet.
- He dislikes 4chan.
- We have no time for ED.
- He'll send me a Guy Fawkes mask.
- If he goes to Zumiez for clothes, I can go to HT!
- We complement each other perfectly. Not compliment, complement. He's a skater/gamer, I'm a nerd/popular, he's responsible, but I'm good with money.
- He's a skater. So, fit, tall, skilled. He gets places, doesn't do tricks, it's sort of a waste of time and effort. He focuses on getting places fast.
- He's a preppy, but I don't know why, but I don't care for once. His school is preppy, that is. I guess he is too, but I don't care.
- He's the only person I'd be a housewife for, if he asked me.
- He admits his flaws.
- He loves me.
Also, lolwut Japan?
Oregon is far if you have high school to deal with and no car, but once he turns 18, about a week and a half before my 16th b-day, he gets one. Until then, it'll be between $50 and $100 for us to visit each other, and it'll be easier for him than for me. Parents, money, etc.I play World of Warcraft, NeverWinter Nights, and First Life.

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
In my twin sis's case, they both lived in SF, they just had never met.
In my case, however, my girlfriend is planning on going to work in Japan relatively soon as an interpreter (for now, it's the distance between the Bay and Seattle).

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
Hey guys,
I just moved up to the Bay Area to go to Cal, and am sorely missing my Dnd group back home. I couldn't admit it to myself earlier, but I really am a nerd at heart. When I came up here a week ago, I was all like, "Oh, I'm going to be all cool and exciting and meet new people", blah blah. In reality, I'm homesick and lonely half of the time and kind of desperate to appease the inner core of my identity that demands conversations about the newest errata for 4E or jokes, etc.
Mind if I join you guys in the future? I'm kind of a minor lurker here, but I'm a pretty normal (relatively speaking, I mean, I visit this board in my free time) guy."Call me Ishmael."
Thanks to Adghar for the avatar.

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
Well, I don't know anybody else's schedules, but during the weekends, I'm mostly free, save for my morning group bike ride.
Umm...regarding weekdays: Preferably Monday, Thursday, or Friday nights. I can't stay too long either, on a weekday, since I have early classes. Hooray.
I know you guys decided not to morph into a Dnd-playing group, but thankfully I brought up an emergency stash of dice, just in case. Unfortunately, all of my books are at home."Call me Ishmael."

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
It'd be good if we all posted our most available times and then went from there.
Mondays and Wednesdays are no good for me, and Sundays are a very bad idea... Tuesdays and Thursdays I could probably show up to something later in the afternoon, but I'd either kill myself falling asleep at the wheel or not dying and just being really out of it, Fridays and Saturdays are my best days though. Nothing happens those days that can't usually be moved to some other time.

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
Also fairly new to these boards. Long time lurker though. I really want to play dnd though. unfourtanately, no one I know personally has ANY interest in it And so I have come here with a simple questioning. Any dnd groups that would be willing to let someone with no prior experience come and sit in on a few games? I'm sure if I sat in on a few I'd learn how to play, and then, perhaps, convince a few of my friends to learn also.

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
I second the Friday idea. It's kind of a funny thought, but my Friday nights are, after 7:15, completely free. I'm open to anything--Dnd, board games, card games, etc.
Would this Friday be too early a prospect? Saturday afternoon is also free. I'm open to everything, personally."Call me Ishmael."

Re: Bay Area/California meetup
I know I didn't show up last time... (sorry! >_<) but weekends would definitely work better for me. If people are aiming for this weekend, I'd personally prefer Saturday or Sunday, I already have 2-3 options as is of what my friends want to do on Friday. The one time people actually plan ahead and it interferes with something else.
