    Default Moons of Theia

    And so it began...
All around Theia, on half of her moons, civilisations began to rise to the space age. At that time, we did not know if it would be a golden age, of trade, and prosperity, or an age of war and terror. Back then, only time could tell...

    Agamemnon

Do not desire undue advancement, for you deprive one who is worthy-
Do not lust for one above your station, for you perturb both your station, and theirs-
Do not reject your rightful path, for all paths must be equally tended-
Do not spite your fellow, for you open yourself to spite-
Do not pursue the savage pleasure of personal power, for it brings ruin to us all.

-The Five Pillars, Bureaucracy Central Dogma

    Imperial Address Via Radio:

The radio crackles, interference from the meters of concrete of His Majesty's hidden bunker. A voice pipes in, strong and deep and very, very familiar to the inhabitants of Agamemnon, delivering a much-anticipated address, the first in several years. "My loyal subjects,
Today marks the beginning of a new era of prosperity and expansion. For many, many generations, our noble ancestors have lived on our beautiful moon, and we have honored them by building a great civilization. However, we cannot dwell forever in the home where we have grown up, so today marks the beginning of the era in which the Agamemnoniites will look to the stars. We have already constructed a fleet to rival any of the other 'civilizations' on the other moons, and with your adamant support, we shall eclipse even the greatness of the state that birthed our culture. I ask you now to pay extra attention to your work, since the two years will be absolutely vital to our future prospects! Forge your minds, your hearts, your bodies into a glistening image of Agamemnoniite greatness, and do honor to your ancestors, watching from the afterlife!
    "

Senior Bureaucracy Explains the Emperor's Plan

The Senior Bureaucrats issue a statement later that day, outlining Agamemnon's budget for the next year.

    New Economic System Smashing Success

The recently implemented programme of economic changes, described as the Evolutionary Free Market, has moved from its theoretical stage to a tested, workable system. Economic output across Olympia has nearly doubled, and the people seem happy with it.

    Space Program Revived

With the EFM up and running smoothly, the government has reinvested with interest the capital borrowed from the Space program last year. As a result, next year we will have the trade fleet necessary to export all of our trade goods.

    Plans for Hades Announced

In a lengthy debate today, the provisional parliament (so named as to remind its members that a popular referendum can always overturn its decisions) made its first move in extralunar exploration. Two probes have been sent to a small moon in the outer orbit of Theia to search for resources. The moon has been named Hades, and will hopefully within several years be home to a profitable mining outpost.

    The Leonas' Times

    World Goverment Opens Interlunar Trade

After last month's succesful rocket flight that demonstrated the ability to reach other planets in reasonable time, the World Goverment has reached consensus on opening trade to other lunar nations. The announcement - much sooner than expected - has brought about a flurry of activity, spurring many nations into building their own fleets, and roughly doubling Leona's space fleet almost overnight. Although it will take rouhgly the rest of the year to iron out the details, all the companies involved assure that they will be ready to fly come the next period, when the business deals will officially comence. Several countries report that this increased activity has spurred many secondary industries, sharply increasing the GNP of many countries not directly participating in the interlunar trade.
    -----------

    World Goverment Comunication

"In the spirit of friendship between the Theia Moons, we offer every moon a chance to try Leonas' manufactured products, and the opportunity to reciprocate with the selling of your goods in Leonas. We desire to form as many trade alliances as possible to better know one another. Any other moon interested in fair trade with Leonas, please communicate with us, either in the open frequency or in the private frequency. The Leonas World Goverment hopes this will be the start of a fructiferous friendship amongst the Theia Moons"

    Nifelheim

    Headlines in the Nifelheim Gazette

New laws written to promote economical growth
The High Council has recently written up a series of laws to make it easier for the economy to grow. This is supposedly a measure taken to help the development of the recently initiated Space Project, but no statements about it has been made as of yet.

First probes sent to nearby moon!
Very recently, the first probes of our Space fleet has been sent to investigate a nearby moon, which is still unnamed. The probes' main priority is to investigate the possible resources on the moon but according to the Space Fleet HQ, they are also looking into possibilities of building a colony on the moon.

The High Council opens up trade relations with other moons.
The High Council has decided that to truly prosper, we must trade with the other moons. A quote from the speach that the Speaker held earlier this week: Trade is, after all, yet another great way to aquire resources. And if our economy can prosper from interlunar trade, then there's even more reason to open up trade relations with the other human moons.

    THO

The Olympian Ministry of Health (OMH) has undertaken the task of establishing the Theian Health Organization (THO). An extension of early talks with their peers on Leonas, the goal of the THO will be to catalogue all viruses, bacteria, diseases, and other nasty health problems known in the Theian system. The purpose of the THO is to ensure the highest level of health for all persons coming in contact with foreign lifeforms. All moons are asked to contribute their most accurate and up-to-date medical wisdom. Submissions should be given in the following manner: small cargo rockets carrying computer drives with the appropriate information written therein. Until all moons comply with THO requests, Olympia must enforce a strict quarantine on all incoming craft. We assure that this will not interfere with trade, although all incoming trade goods will be searched and deemed harmless before being released to the public.

Access to the THO database will be given to all complying lunar governments upon request, by secure radio channels, and to THO-certified doctors.

Otopkin: But you didn't support a fleet.
Elyan: A fleet will be necessary. But the project... if it is to be Aseioni and not Hegemony, should not be a military project. What we must expand is our

    Otopkin: The Information Commons?
Elyan: Yes. Exactly. You studied comparative philosophy? Under my grandfather if I remember right?
Otopkin: Yes. This is your alternative? The Information Commons?

Nifelheim has explored Moon II, and has decided to lay claim to the moon. Any attempt made to build a colony there, or to exlore it without direct permission of the High Council, will be met with military force.

Moon II will from now on be called Jotunheim.

A General Transmission from the Gathering-At-Dawn

Sibling moons, we people of Aseio, of the Gathering-At-Dawn, greet you. We see now, across the black of space, how our interests and needs have begun to unite us; our common thirst for life is creating a web of trade, and we hope this exchange of cargo is followed by an exchange of understanding. In this spirit we invite you into our exchange, an exchange of interests. We invite you into an exchange of knowledge. Though our research has yet borne fruit, we hope to share it with our sibling moons who would share their understanding with us as well. In this spirit cooperation, and out of concern for the 'claiming' of our silent sibling moons, we propose that there should be a place for all the moons of Theia to be-in-common and speak-in-common, that we may cease to be strangers to each other.

Probes have already been sent to Moon V. Olympian cosmonauts are already in the process of surveying the moon, which we style Hades, for eventual colonisation. We plan to construct a colony on Hades in due time, and we would welcome your people to join us in peaceful communion there. However, we assure you that our mining companies will be more than capable of extracting the resources necessary to provide for the upkeep of this joint venture, and our passive defenses more than sufficient to protect our people from predatory governments unlike your own; all you need contribute is your colonists, your goodwill, and your understanding.

To Helia and Olympia, and to all our sibling moons

Sibling Helia, we are gladdened by your approval and your initiative in this proposal. However, as our dearest sibling Olympia has expressed their interest in the resources of Hades we are reluctant to impose the burden of an Interlunar Mission upon them. We too seek to develop a colony on Hades, the moon we call the Garden, and would invite you to speak-in-common with us there. We would suggest, instead, that perhaps the best location for an Interlunar Mission is the yet untouched Moon IV. Our information on the moon is limited at this moment. We invite you into our exchange regarding this moon, and will attempt, perhaps after our business on Hades has begun, to probe moon IV and share this information - we would hope that your own exploration agencies might assist in this. Does this meet with the approval of our sibling Theians?

Imperial Address In Response To Declaration of War

    <<Broadcast to all moons>>

The screen, initially covered by static, slowly clears up to reveal a small male child, about ten or eleven, in a garishly decorated office. Screens on the wall show scenes of tranquility-- the Imperial gardens, in the capitol, with the sun setting over the Palace, Stability Square, in Agamemnon's largest city, the sun high in sky as traffic throngs through the metropolis, early morning at a farming hub, the combine harvesters just starting the business of the day.

The child turns away from the screens, showing a troubled but stern expression on his face. As any Agamemnoniite would know, this is emperor Agamemnon XLVIII, who has been in power for less than a year, since the death of Agamemnon XLVII. The emperor speaks, "There was a time when our moon was ruled by conflict and strife, a time when the sword and the gun were the only law; a time of chaos. Our ancestors, the Imperial line and the citizens of Imperial City set out to restore order to this moon, where the victors could live in peace, unburdened by the omnipresent cacophonic symphony of death and conquest. They set out to do this, and they succeeded. This was over 200 Theian years ago,"

The screens change, showing images from around Agamemnon: a school, fully populated, the elementary school children hard at work under the direction of the teacher, factories, clean and functional, producing the needs of the citizens, a hospital, sterile and well-funded, with an older doctor leading a pack of medical students. "The Karthan ruler speaks of freedom as an excuse for his naked aggression-- this is a lie. We do not need freedom as this monster defines it. His idea of freedom leads to chaos, destruction, rampant individualism, and the total disregard for the greater needs of society in preference to the whims of a few powerful individuals, like this mayfly despot himself. Our idea of freedom ensures that no one goes hungry, waste is not undertaken for personal gain, and that everyone, no matter how powerful works for the greatness of Agamemnon. Our idea of freedom is mature,"

The screens change again, one showing a line of tanks, another a line of aircraft, and a third an underground chamber, mean looking missiles gleaming in a row.

"We have thwarted their spies. Our forces are equal in number and possess every advantage in this encounter. Our planetary defenses stand at the ready, and our nuclear forces are on their highest alert in history. A Karthan invasion would be disastrous, and, should this superstitious fool continue with his plans, it will surely lead to his demise and the conquest of his moon by an opportunist, if not the avenging forces of Agamemnon themselves. If Karthan ships attempt to land on Agamemnon, they will not be granted mercy; we will respond with every weapon at our disposal. This is Kartha's first and final warning."

The pictures change again to show Karthan ships exploding in orbit as thermonuclear missiles lance into them, and Kartha, from orbit, as unidentified ships land on the surface. The Emperor turns away from the screens,
"To you, other Moons of Theia, I ask you; will you stand by while a sister moon attempts to conquer its sibling? Will you watch while a blubbering moron attempts to spread his fantastic hallucinations at the point of a gun? Will you do nothing when he invents an excuse to attack an entire people that have done nothing to him? Is this truly the reality that you want? I beseech you, on behalf of my people and on behalf of yours, to let this strutting old man know that we will not stand for this-- break your trade deals with Kartha, and reform them with others that have done the same. At the very least, we can ensure that his militaristic theocracy cannot become stronger than those governments worthy to govern."

    To the Karthan Government

I urge you in the strongest terms to call off your attack. It will only bring ruin to the people of Agamemnon and Kartha alike, and it threatens to escalate into a conflict of such scale as to embroil all the moons of Theia in tumult and strife. With your armed forces deployed on Agamemnon, it would not take long for Kartha to be invaded, either by some self-righteous avenger or a base opportunist. It will be the innocent people, who have no choice in this conflict, that will suffer the most as a result of your actions. Please, consider the welfare of your people.

And know that if you continue on this inane, self-destructive course, the armed forces of Olympia - who have made the choice to enlist and to stand up for justice - are prepared to defend the people of Agamemnon.

    Rufus
    President, Olympia

    To the Karthan People

Your government has a clear disregard for your interests. It would lead you into a conflict that threatens to sacrifice your sons and daughters on a foreign moon in the name of senseless violence, and leave you without any way of defending yourselves from the retribution that will likely follow.

And so I ask you: resist your government. Refuse to participate in an institution that has forsaken you in its insanity for its own ends. March on police barracks, seize their weapons; occupy your town halls, and barricade yourselves inside. Take control of power plants, factories, farms, and for once use them to better your own communities. Your government has abandoned you, and so must you abandon it in return.

The people of Leonas condemn in the strongest terms the unprovocked attack on the sister moon of Agamemnon, and implores the people of Kartha to show their displeasure on their goverment. Sister moons of Theia, do not support this baseless and ruthless attack by Kartha by sending this moon your hard-earnt goods! Leonas will happily give you equal value and you can be assured that they will not be used to ruthlessly invade other sister moons.

To all the leaders of our sibling moons, and especially to Kartha and Agamemnon

Sibling Kartha, we people of Aseio can no longer hear you. Out of the mouths of your leaders we no longer hear the voices of people, but instead they baying of wild animals. Our ears are closed to you and our exchange is closed to you until this injustice is put to an end.
We join our siblings, the ever-wise Olympians, in a plea to the people of Kartha to act in their own interests, common and individual, and protest this war. We assert and recognize the right of the individual Karthan, and the individual Agamemnoni, to the freedom and fruit of their own labour and place. In this light, while we accept and support the necessity of military action to defeat the unjust Karthan invasion, we remind our sibling moons that we people of Aseio, inheritors of a history of revolution, have little patience for tyrants real or imaginary, and seek to ensure a civil end to this conflict that should be to the benefit all peoples of the Theian moons justly and equally.

    Battle for Agamemnon, Year one

Ignoring the interlunar outcry, Khartan forced proceeded with their invasion of Agamemnon. Masses of Khartan trade and exploration vessels, hastily retrofitted to hold troops, tanks and aircraft, approached Agamemnon orbit.
Before orbit was reached, the first blows were extended: part of the Khartan space fleet launched ICBMs, to both distract Agamenian orbital defences, which would otherwise have wreaked havoc on the mostly defenceless invasion fleet. The measures proved effective: even though the agamemnian defence systems managed to prevent collateral damage and fallout on the surface, several key points in the defence organisation were struck, and most of the defence satellites were outright anihilated.
1 point of Khartan nukes destroys 1 point of Agamemni defences
In response, Agamemni nukes opened fire on the approaching Khartan fleet. Even though the intercontinental missiles didn't prove very effective in orbit, more than a quarter of the Khartan fleet was destroyed outright, along with it's cargo. A feeble atempt of the overstrained Khartan secret serviced, aimed at interfering with the launch of the Agamemni thermonuclear arsenal was prevented.
1 point of Agamemni nukes destroy 1 point of Khartan space (primary) and 1 point of Khartan Army (Secondary)
The remaining Khartan forces, mostly unfaced by the heavy losses during aproach, managed planetfall, where they met strong resistance by the Agamemni forces.
The Agamemni navy soon proceeded to bombard the landing zones of the Khartan forces, as well as attacking their air force. Soon, some of the Khartan air forces, in the absence of any Khartan naval forces, proceeded to bombard the Agamemni air forces, to little effect.
Navy: 2 Defence, 3 Anti-Air, 1 Shore bombardment. Losses: 0.18 due to air bombardment
In the days and weeks following the landing, massive air and ground battles took place. The Khartan forces rushed onward, disregarding their defence, instead trying to occupy Agamemni territory. The Agamemni military on the other hand tried to minimize damage to themselves and the population, striking at the Khartans from well-fortified positions and retreating when reinforcements arrived.
    Air:
Kharta: 4 Offence, 1 naval attack. Losses: 0.83
    Agamemnon: 3 Defence, 1 offence, 1.5 offence from Naval Anti-Air. Losses: 0.67
    Army:
    Kharta: 3 Offence, 1 territory, Losses: 0.83
Agamemnon: 4 Defence, 2 offence, 0.5 offence from naval bombardment, Losses: 0.5

    Combat status:
    Territory: 99% Agamemnon, 1% Kharta
Remaining troops: (Amount of dice to be rolled in brackets)
    Kharta: 1.17 army (2), 2.17 air (2), 0 navy (0)
    Agamemnon: 1.5 army (2), 1.33 air (1), 1.82 navy(3)

Even though the Khartans suffered heavy losses, due to their reckless offensive strategy, and their losses during planetfall, they still outnumbered the Agamemni in most aspects, except in the navy, which had proven to be a decisive factor in many air battles, where the Khartans suffered several grave defeats.

Partialy because of rampant political maneuvering, and partly out of respect for the two moons soverenghty, the Helian council has decided to stay neutral in the war.
    Press release.
Following a long council session, We have decided to stay neutral in the war, as we have not hadf interlunar travel long enough to develop strong alliances or strong bonds. As such, as long as there is not a strong enticment to go into the war on either side, we shall remain out of it.
However, recognising every free humens right to safty, we will take refugees out of any warzones if at all possible.
Due to the war, as well as the disturbing mention of espianoge in the Agememoni Emperors message. We are advertising the fact that a large increase in counterops services, as well as a increase in orbital defeses, is likely.

Attackers Held at Bay, Generals "Optimistic"

"Despite their numerical advantages on the ground and in the air and their cowardly, unprovoked use of nuclear weapons, the enemy took heavy losses in their initial invasion. With their damaged fleet and pitiful economy, we expect the invaders to be driven from Agamemnon within two Theian years."

Senoir Bureaucrats Again Call for Embargo

"Kartha has shown a belligerence and bloodthirstiness that place it ideologically firmly in the last Theian century. Why not reform your trade deals with Aseio or Gaia, two peaceful moons that have been largely left out of the interlunar trade bonanza? "

    Agamemnoniites Rally Around the Emperor

In a surprising survey, the Bureaucracy determined that unrest and corruption rates in Agamemnon are at all-time lows. When asked why, they responded "It probably has something to do with conscription replacing imprisonment as the last resort of the corrections system".
