I'm not quite sure what you mean by "doesn't fit in the linkbar" I've never had trouble with long URLs; I just copy and paste them in. The only thing I can think of is check to make sure you don't have [img] or [url] tags around it -- that makes it say that the image is in the wrong format (or something similar).

I believe that you will most likely run into problem number 2 if it did fit, that the folder name you use on photobucket contain spaces. If I remember correctly the board software is allergic to them and refuse to show the avatars from the folders in question.

So to kill two birds with one stone I suggest this:
Change the album-name on photobucket to something without spaces which is also shorter than the current name. "Oots" or "OotsArtwork" are two possible candidates.
You can also create a new album if that works better.

I've never used irfanwiev or Photobucket, so I have no idea if they're doing something to the image. I've never seen Photobucket make an avatar look jagged, though How big was your original image? And what program did you make it in?

I created it in paint and worked while it was 400x400 and after it was done shrinked it via irfanview to 117x117 and i still control, it seems too good, but when uploaded to phbucket it is jagged as u said maybe you could suggest an upload website? thank you!

This seems to be the place to ask about such things: My custom avatar shows up just fine for me, from multiple computers, but someone just told me in a PM that it doesn't show up for them. It should be a stick figure holding an hourglass. First of all, do most people see it, and second, if not, does anyone know why not? I'm hosting it myself on my desktop, a Mac running an Apache server.

This is the problem. It needs to have an internet address for it to show up to everybody else.

You don't need to set height and width anymore.

Make sure what you're entering in the URL field starts with "http" and ends with ".pgn", ".jpg" or ".gif". Not "[img]" and "[/img]" (that always messes me up!). Where are you hosting your image? Sometimes the URL the hosting site gives doesn't work right and you need to rightclick the image and get the URL there. If you're still having trouble and you want to post your image here, we can take a look and see if we can figure out the URL for you.

You seem to have your avatar set up correctly on this end. Your avatar is set to http://cassandra.physics.montana.edu/chronos.gif , which is the proper format. That address is a real internet address (it maps to 153.90.194.99 and that address does respond to pings). However, my PC can't connect to the webserver on your machine. It looks like something is blocking people outsude Montana State from connecting to it. Probably trying to stop people hosting music or other copyrighted content without permission.

You could try hosting the webserver on a different port (see http://homepage.mac.com/car1son/change_apache_port.html ) and then modify the URL to point to that port, but it still might not work.

That might be... The other computer I've checked it from is also within montana.edu . Things I've hosted in this way have worked in the past for outsiders, but it might be a new restriction. I'll look into that.

Anybody mind doing a super obese, and super happy, 4e Doppelganger sitting down with a Black Dagger in one hand, a huge red twirled sucker, and black studded leather?

EDIT: If you are saying no because I have no prerequisites, I have had an account before, but I lost my login information for it, as well as the Email it was tied to.

This isn't the thread for requesting custom avatars; it's for getting tech help with it. There is a thread for what you want, though, down in the Arts and Crafts forum.

You have the image uploaded into a photobucket folder with a space in the folder name ("Audiophile gear"). Rename the folder to remove the space and the new url should work.

On a related note, that avatar will be too big -- it is currently 200x244 px and the maximum size is 120x120 px. If you don't resize it, you will only be seeing the top left corner.

My avatar's link is too long to fit in the appropriate bar. It cuts it off at the point marked by the roach and then doesn't work properly.
