Re: A Role Reversed?
For Auravision, I cannot locate a source for the ability, and am having difficulty locating the Incarnate class. Please list source, so that I can get an accurate accounting of what it detects, and the like.
As for the "no auto hit rule", could you point out where it states that? Otherwise it's go off dex to hit and stuff... I figured that as long as you took a full round action, it'd be like a coup de grace, except immune to crit. Hence, the other one.
If a source can be cited for autohit on objects, I'll be happy to say that the wall was hit by the last attack.

Re: A Role Reversed?
It is possible to auto hit non-attended objects with melee attacks if you use a full round action to make the attack.

Re: A Role Reversed?
Seems to me like we're waiting for Talic to report on what the Auravision shows. Mayhap we could finish this since it's only one combat.

Re: A Role Reversed?
In that case, then Auravision detects nothing.
Reasoning(for spectators/non-participating rules-lawyers):SpoilerJust as solid objects prevent my Antimagic Field from extending, so does the stone prevent the Detect Magic emanation from penatrating.Last edited by Talic; 2008-05-27 at 08:06 AM.

Re: A Role Reversed?
Well, if Turcano has nothing further to do, it's Mage's turn to act.

Re: A Role Reversed?
I wish Turcano would show up to, say, finish decostructing the wall that I hit.

Give Turcano a day to post, and then someone else finish his turn for him.

Re: A Role Reversed?
I will be watching this with interest. If the mage wins, does that merely confirm that Wizards are in fact, overpowered against non-casters?

Re: A Role Reversed?
That's a known fact, the question is how overpowered. Now, of course after the outcome, the discussion comes down to the optimality of the playing and the builds on both sides (I know I may have done some grave mistakes already, but I don't know exactly what he's got prepared so I can't be sure), as well as the fact how a Wizard is absolutely gimped in an arena, where they can't utilize their greatest advantage; incredible mobility (well, the ability to be anywhere at any time, probably well out of the range of influence of martial characters).
But before analysis, let's wait what comes out of this.Campaign Journal: Uncovering the Lost World - A Player's Diary in Low-Magic D&D (Latest Update: 8.3.2014)

Re: A Role Reversed?
Mage actions:
SpoilerCast Superior Invisibility.
Move: inside floor, north 10 feet (5 feet north of J1) then vertically up 50 feet (so Just north of J1, elevation 45 feet.
Done.
Spells Used:SpoilerOff of scroll: Wall of stone x1
Cast: Antimagic Field, Ghostform, Haste, Superior Invisibility
Slots Left: 6/9/9/7/8/8/6/7/5/7
Edit: This isn't to prove that mages are OP. There is a point, however. I'll get into that later. For now, the main point of the exercise is amusement.Last edited by Talic; 2008-05-28 at 11:37 PM.

Re: A Role Reversed?
Very valid point. You must have LOS to opponent at the start of an action to charge.

Re: A Role Reversed?
Well, to be honest, I wasn't sure whether there was enough room (I don't think there would be if the wall splits the squares in half). (Also, I was half expecting it to be a trap.)

Re: A Role Reversed?
Now that's something you could have asked for clarification on. Distance for spell was measured as if the wall was at the outer edges of the squares listed. There was enough space for people to get in. Even if the walls bisected the surrounding squares, however, it would have been possible to get in under squeezing rules.
Without the attack though, it wouldn't have accomplished anything except reduce the number of buffs currently on the wizard by 1.
As for the trap? Were it not for blink, yes. That spell confounds a great many sources of damage, however.Last edited by Talic; 2008-05-29 at 03:27 AM.

Wow, the mage acted and all the mage slayers are still ok. There is something very fishy here...

Re: A Role Reversed?
Because the wizard is trying to win in a manner that exposes him to almost no chance of being so much as hurt. That requires a bit of buffing.

And another myth debunked!
Even a wizard lv20 can't go 20/7 with an impenetrable buff defense.

Re: A Role Reversed?
I'll drop my initiative to the same as Turcano, going after him.
Whisper to teammates:
SpoilerAlright, we'll be able to break down the wall now. He'll probably have all kinds of protections on, so after the Stone Sphere goes down, we'll have to take them out one by one. I can handle AMF, Rods are needed for Prismatic Spheres et al. Let's all act at once to minimize the time he has to react.Last edited by Eldariel; 2008-05-29 at 06:07 PM.

No problem, I'll just whip it out right now. But one of you has to breech that damn thing first before I can move in.
