The Oque Technology Level

Spoiler
Show
There are currently 32 groups of Oque, consisting of about 15 individuals. Each of those groups has a certain level of advancement, a certain level of knowledge. At current, the Oque’s level of advancement can be seen by the presence or absence of three distinct skills. These are the ability to warp material and make huts, the ability to infuse items to shed light and the ability to fire a jolt. This gives currently rise to 8 different levels of knowledge for each group.

To look at these different levels of knowledge, we will be looking at four different groups. None of the groups currently gives the group itself a name, therefore we will simply be using numbers.

It is a pleasant day for the Oque of group 3. The sun is shining and the seventeen Oque in the group are walking pleasantly along. They are walking in chaotic bunch group, but those on the edges are closely watching around. Their large eyes observe the surroundings, to make sure that no predator catches them surprised. Meanwhile, in the middle of the group walk three Oque which seem a bit fatter than the rest. They are a mating group, a threesome that has decided to stick with each other and will, eventually, lay eye eggs to take care off. Around them, four other Oque seem to dart around. Four lively, small Oque. They are only half of the size of the other Oque and it is clearly apparent that these are children. They bounce around, overfull with energy, only to be calmed when slapped against their back with a leg.

The group does not seem too talkative. Instead, they seemed to enjoy the rays of the sun which were able to pierce the foliage above them. While the Oque are able to talk, only the children of this group were really trying it out. The space around them is filled with their strange sounds. Their sounds are strange, since no ordinary animal or being can hear them. Only the other Oque is aware of the sound they make. And they, in turn, are unaware of the sounds around them. The rustling of the leaves of the forest, the chirping of birds and the steps of an oncoming creature are all part of another world. A world which the Oque can not hear.

Rustle. Rustle. Step. Step. The sound of a predator on the move. Yet, the Oque could not hear. It lurked in the bushes, eyeing them slowly. And this was the predator’s mistake. It did not hear them warn each other. It jumped up towards the group, but as the solitary wolf landed, the group had already dispersed. Most of them had climbed in the trees and some had dived in the bushes before the wolf had the idea where to go. It started to smell the air, but then it saw it did not need to. With a wolfish grin, it turned its gaze to the Oque child still hopping about cheerfully. It slowly moved closer, ready to jump. But then, it suddenly seemed to become scared, frightened. It was not because it had noticed it, but something else. Again, it was the strange communication of the Oque. Another of the adult Oque had warned the little one, and the wolf had heard nothing.

Yet it would not let the little one go away. It darted after it and when it wanted to strike, it found not the child, but an adult Oque. It immediately struck down, biting fiercely with its fangs in the Oque’s leg. There was no audible shrieking of pain, but all the Oque in the vicinity could hear it. Using one of it’s others legs, the adult Oque trying to protect the child punched the wolf. The wolf only bit harder because of it, shredding part of the leg before biting down on the body of the Oque.

The other Oque fled. “Flee!” had been the words of the dying Oque. They were safe. The child was safe too. They better heeded the dying words of the Oque. The fatter Oque fled through the bushes with a few others, making sure the children were following them. A number of other Oque followed them through the trees of the forest. It was a noble sacrifice of this Oque. However, a logical one. The child it had saved was its own child.

“Food!” exclaims an Oque to another Oque. The six-legged sphere is standing before a bush filled with berries, with two others standing besides it, clearly supporting the first Oque’s cause. The other Oque, to who the first Oque talked, also has two Oque’s with it. The six Oque’s look at each other with anger in their single eyes. The second group, unison, shouts “FOOD!” after which the first group shouts “FOOD”. It is clear that the bush filled with berries is the one being fought over.

The group, consisting of fourteen Oque, has been without some proper food for some time now. Since the group was not large enough, they have not split to seek food for smaller numbers. There have been children with them, so they each seek to find food for the group. However, the berries now found will not suffice for the group, only half of it at maximum. The children are currently playing with some of the others, and the two groups of three are facing each other off. The three close to the bush had pushed the other three away, the three who found the bush in the first place. Now, they are arguing who gets to have it by shouting at each other.

But then, the shouting stops. They stare at each other and each raises their middle two legs and points it at the other group. Both shout for one last time “FOOD!” and then it happens. From the tips of their legs they start shooting tiny blue globs at each other. They seem to sting a lot. One of the Oque of the group not near the bush manages to run towards the first group and starts punching one of there with its legs. However, soon the pain of three Oque’s flinging globs of painful nature combined with punches makes it flee in retreat. With only two left over, the first group seems in the advantage. However, by protecting their own, the other two have managed to climb up in the trees and are now flinging jolts down outside of the range of those on the floor. The three aggressors quickly climbed up to reach them.

Two of the group manages to reach one of the Oque flinging jolts downwards. The third fell down upon some hits from jolts. With that, its death was sealed, as it fell straight into a sharp branch, piercing through it. The two who reach the Oque flinging jolts make sure that said Oque joins their dead companion and sling him downwards. While not falling as bad as the other Oque, a loud crack can be heard in the vicinity. The Oque, however, hear nothing. The two aggressors move to take out the last one, but that one is already fleeing. The one who fell down lumps away and manages to bump against a lot of things. It was blinded by the fall, as its eye had to bear the brunt. Cries of pain, heard only by other Oque, filled the air.

But the two aggressors were victorious. The food was theirs. They ate until they could eat no more. One protected the bush, while the other went to get the other Oque protecting the children. They divided the left over berries amongst them sparingly before the group continued on. While the other Oque did clumsily ask what happened to the others, the response was simple. “Beast.”

“Beep. Kiskul watch.” The Oque, naming itself Kiskul, which had climbed up, now looked at the Oque lying between three thick branches. A bit higher, between other branches, branches had been warped together, providing a make-shift roof to protect the Oque lying. Next to it another Oque was looking over the lying Oque. It held itself in place by the six legs holding on to the branches in the tree. It responded with a greeting. “Beep.” “Ksgasgk?” Inquired Kiksul, obviously asking for the situation of the lying Oque. “Bad.” There were a few moments of silence, after which it said something again. “Kiskul watch. Qusck sleep. Other hut.” Kiskul blinked in an almost nod-like fashion. As Qusck went out, Kiskul moved to the place Qusck was taking. It looked at Ksgasgk and felt sad. The three of them were mates, but their ritual was broken when Ksgasgk felt bad. Ksgasgk had been like this for three days. There was little to no hope left. But Kiskul watched over Ksgasgk. Just as Qusck had done.

Qusck, meanwhile, climbed through the trees. This was a makeshift settlement, composed out of nineteen Oque. There were crude huts, composed out of nothing more than twigs and branches broken off and warped together and then placed in a strategic manner to provide shelter. Some places had twigs and branches to provide some comfort on the bottom to lie on. They served their purpose well enough, and, in addition, they were mostly in the trees. This meant that a number of predators, or beasts as the Oque referred them to, could not reach them easily. As Qusck moved through the trees, there was not much difficulty to get there. He had taken a small branch and imbued it with light. While it was draining in energy, there was no alternative. It was dark due to it being evening and he would fall if there was no light. He saw two Oque keeping watch over the small settlement, composed out of just a few huts. They occasionally used light to move around and made sure they would warn everybody if they were ambushed by beasts. When Ksgasgk was better or gone, Qusck would help them. But for now, he had to sleep.

Moving further through the trees, he passed three Oque chatting merrily with each other at a very low volume. They would not disturb others if they were careful. Sometimes, they used light to make sure everything was fine. But they just talked. They were the three smart Oque of this group. Qusck knew of them and found them talking to be confusing. They knew words he did not and their talk was so.. lengthy. Quickly, he moved on to his tree and lay himself to rest. Tomorrow would be another day to worry about Ksgasgk.

“Group split?” “No ask Tskybski.” Was the reply by the second Oque. Two Oque were sitting under a make shift roof. They heard the water fall. The forest was dark, since the foliage was thick and the sky dark as well. Sometimes, the first Oque, Ckipxa, lit up a rock to make sure they were still secure in the tree. They looked at each other, not knowing what would happen. This group had some arguments. With a group of twenty, there had been frictions. Most of them, however, were ready to mate or give birth. To split up now would mean that there would not be enough protection, that some had to move, that huts at other places would have to be made. Tskybski and Ckipxa were ready to give birth as well. Their third partner, however, had died at the hands of a beast.

Neither of the two knew what to do now. Would their children be born properly? Did they need more? The ones who knew would not tell. The fight had been strong. Nobody had died, but injuries had been made. The reason of the fight was not clear, but Gitsvun and Rimpwasck were suspected to be the starters of it. At least so thought Tskybski and Ckipxa. They knew there were three groups. They knew not why they had fought or what had happened. They did know that neither of the three groups would speak to each other again. Both Tskybski and Ckipxa stood separate from the three groups, wishing only to live a normal life. Afraid of what was to come, they huddled against each other.

The next day the rain had stopped. Ckipxa had brought Tskybski some food and spoke up.
“No split.”
“Good. Fight?”
Upon this, Ckipxa made a confirming reply. “Yes. Fight. Gitsvun. Rtsympsk.” There was a moment of pause.
“Rtsympsk left. In rain. See something. Look with light.”
“Gitsvun fight?”
“Beast follow. Rtsympsk. Beast away.”
“Gitsvun fight.”
“Yes. Beat Rtsympsk. Rtsympsk guard.”
“Hurt?”
“Yes.”

The couple was sad again. They knew not where this ended. There had been others to look around in dark areas with the light when they were curious. Light allowed them to. But it could be dangerous, leading beasts to them. It had happened, and Gitsvun had become angry at Rtsympsk and beat him up after which Rtsympsk had to go on guard duty. The fight had been with punches and with the jolt. It empowered some, realising that they could beat things up. Their own. One older child had even been beat up and had gone to Ckipxa and Tskybski to get comfort. They gave the child a lot of love and in turn, the child went out with other adults to get them food. They were happy with the young Oque, Riptstki. But they still feared the future. The frictions could only get worse and they still had no idea what would happen when it was time to do the second mating ritual.

Plamal comes to the middle of the group, looking around to familiarize himself with the world he was in. He then started to stretch himself to get used to his body. He tried to change himself into a dove but was unable. "Do not be afraid. I am here to help."

Kik is a relatively strong and capable Oque. He has been with the group on many occasions to find food, even in dangerous territory. He has spotted many dangers before they spotted him and has been able to warn the group, ensuring they can flee safely. Most of the time, he is the first to shout in the strange Oque way of communication. Now, he is a guard in the Oque settlement. They live int he forest, int he trees, with their primitive shelters composed out of warped branches. The shelters are basically primitive roofs place here and there, and a rare floor. It was bright day, and then, suddenly, Kik hears a cry. He recognizes it from all others. It is the cry that there is danger. Ashamed that he has not been able to see the danger first, he now spots it too.

Within their trees, amidst their shelters, is a large beast. A familiar beast too. The Oque have not awarded much time to giving beasts names, but Kik new what it was. It was a bear. It looked a bit strange, especially since it was in the three, but the danger was more than obvious. His sounds joined the others as the air was filled with the cries of danger being shouted around. No other being, besides Immortals and Oque are able to hear it. And the Oque did hear it. The whole group fled as fast as it could and did not listen to what Plamal had to say. The reason for that was simple, the air was filled with Oque cries of danger and telling others to flee, so they drowned out his voice.

And so, Plamal found himself in a deserted settlement not too much later, most of the Oque having fled away in the bushes. They would gather later on as a group again, but if they would return is to be seen. There are a few Oque left, however. Three, in fact. One of them lay in under the roof of the shelter, not able to move and perhaps not even conscious. Two others seemed to stick with the Oque, hiding behind the branches and trying to cover up the lying Oque's presence. They look scared at the bear creature and seem ready to flee if it does anything wrong.

Ardannis, turn 2.4

Group #31

Fascinating... Ardannis watched these creatures for a long time befoe selecting group. They had mastered some basic skills, and as their world expanded, found already difficulties proportionate to the complexity of their world. They needed to know to interact properly, that low level of deceit that all beings used to be able to get along with each other. Trickery, if you will. Ardannis did not pause long to think on the vistas opening up within his mind as he dwelt on these concepts, but focused on his newly-returned avatar, sending it down to the Inner Plane. He picked a spot near Group 31, but not so as near to startle them.

He approached slowly, walking, as before, on his back four legs with the upper two extended in front of him. Calling from a short distance away, he said "Ardannis here. Ardannis help. Do not fear."

Can I assume I saw Plamal's interaction with Group 19?
Can I wait until it's light, or is it the wrong time of day, or is it actually never light here?
Can avatars communicate with animals as easily as with the sentient races (accounting, of course, for their less able minds)?

The two Oque that were watching over the unconscious third looked at the strange being. It did not move, that was good. They looked at it warily, and then almost tumbled out of their tree as it did something sheerly amazing. Something unheard of. Something they could not comprehend.

It spoke!

This left them baffled. And they were very obviously baffled too. Nothing besides an Oque could talk. And now this beast did. Perhaps it was not beast. But it, most certainly, was not an Oque. The Oque looked at wearily still. When it spoke up, telling that it was not scary, kind or whatever, the Oque really did not pay much attention to that. Instead, when it said it wanted to help.. one of them spoke up. At least, eventually, when it got a bit over the surprise. "No.. Help Ksgasgk.. Ksgasck bad."

Turn 2.4, group 31, Ardannis

{table=head]Huts|Light|Jolt
Yes|Yes|Yes
Tiktbt, a young Oque child, heard another Oque. It felt playful so it charged at this Ardannis Oque. But it just found a strange creature. One with six appendages, but it was not black. It held two of them up. It had no big eye. It was.. Tiktbt had forgotten what the other Oque called them. Bets? Shrugging mentally, it looked at the strange creature, which did not really some hostile.

"Danger! Tiktbt come!" Was suddenly a loud yell. Behind Tiktbt stood another Oque and another number of Oque, about six and another curious child, were quickly coming. They had heard some talking in the distance, but when they heard of danger, they quickly came as well. Some moved in the trees, climbing around and others through the bushes. They wondered which Oque had talked from this distance before, since it had a weird name "Ardannis". They looked at the strange creature, which was actually Ardannis and wondered if it was a beast or not. Tiktbt looked at the Oque who had told it to come and then back at the strange creature. It walked sideways towards the Oque, who spoke up again. "Find Oque." and pointed to two Oque. They complied and started to move around to search. The two childs and five Oque remained, looking at the strange beast. They were ready to dive away at the first sign of hostility, of it being a beast.

Group #7

Tumine watched for a while, standing far off, listening to the Oque communicate with one another. This group, unlike some of the others she'd seen, seemed to have very limited technology. She did not see any of them firing the globs of goo from the ends of their legs, or creating light. They did have a number of primitive huts, though, which they seemed to have made themselves.

Tumine's avatar is only about 0.6 meters tall. While scrying them, she noticed that these creatures seem extremely skittish around predators, and as they don't know what she is, it would be wise of them to assume she meant harm. So, she took a very small appearance as she manifested into the world.

Slowly walking towards the group, Tumine called out to them softly. Hello! Me Tumine. Tumine friend.

The two Oque moved further away from Plamal as it got nearby. They moved to another tree, still scared of the strange being. Since it is a beast, though it talks. Then, Qusck speaks up. "Qusck go. Find flowers." With that said, Qusck goes off to find flowers, while Kuskul stays and watches Plamal. He wonders what Plamal is doing, but continues to look and observe, making sure that he does not come closer.

After some time, Qusck returns with a lovely flower bouquet, though it is chaotic and not too large. It holds it with its paws and climbs up the tree again, the one in which Kuskul is watching Plamal. Slowly moving to Plamal, it holds the flowers towards the strange bear as it gets close. "Flowers."

The Oque that were walking on the ground jumped up as they saw the weird creature. New creatures can be beasts, after all! But this one was kind of.. small. Well, small in the sense that it was not bigger than the Oque. Those on the ground jumped in the three however, just to be safe and all. After all, if that creature could not climb, they could just be safe in the trees with their huts. Feeling pretty safe in their huts, the Oque looked down at the strange creature. "Hear Oque?" "Yes. Where Oque?" "Oque Tumine?" The last question was mostly because, you know, Oque names don't sound like Tumine. To them, it sounded weird. It must be a new Oque, a solitary one, wandering about. The conversation was between two Oque near Tumine as they looked at the creature, exchanging a conversation between the two of them. The other Oque were either silent or questioning if the being was a beast or not and where this Tumine Oque was. None of them seemed to know and they observed the strange creature, which was actually Tumine, from high in their extremely primitive tree-huts.

It moved back to the three in which Kuskul resided and the two of them looked at each other and then to Plamal. Kuskul whispered "Weird." but Qusck did not respond. Gandoran

2.5

Group 15

Gandoran watched the display with varying degrees of amusement, but eventually decided that these creatures were perfect. Warlike and bullying, with the perfect devices for both. He approached them.

"Do not be afraid, creatures. I am Gandoran." He said, trying to formulate it in a way they would understand. "Fighting over food like this... with no normal place to stay? I have seen creatures of your kind with huts but they didn't have such wonderful attacks. If you used your skills to take them, you would live more comfortably." He continued in a smooth voice. "And there are others, not of your kind... they have good stuff as well. Better and more food."

"I am God. Pledge yourselves to me and I will make sure you will never go hungry, the rewards will be great. And the consequences of not joining- will be dire." He finished, getting down on one knee.

Tumine waves slowly up at the Oque.
Tumine not Beast. Tumine not Oque. Tumine friend. Help Oque.

She takes another step or two forward, continuing to look up at the Oque. Her hands are extended, palms-up, in front of her. What strange creatures these are! At least they didn't run.

Default Re: Pius Fidelus: The Oque

Turn 2.1, Group 19, Plamal

The two Oque look at each other again. Then they look at the beast. A talking beast just told them it would help them heal one of their own. Then it told them it healed Ksgask, which both made them happy. This instantly turned to sadness when they heard that Ksgask chose to die. That Ksgask wanted them to be happy, to be on guard. The Oque do not know what to do with it. But then, Qusck speaks up. "How beast know?" Then, Kuskul adds: "Ksgask dead?"

Turn 2.5, Group 15, Gandoran

{table=head]Huts|Light|Jolt
No|No|Yes
A strange, strange creature moved towards them. It was big too. It was, in fact, scary. Then again, everything that is large and looks like it might be a beast is scary. And that while the Oque were minding their own business. Yet before the group could react in their usual shouting of danger and running away from big burly beasts, it spoke up. Nothing, besides the Oque, spoke up. The Oque were baffled. It told them not to have fear. Yet, for that it was too late. The Oque were scared, most definitely, and fled to the bushes nearby or in trees while shouting of the dangers. However, since it said they did not have to fear, three Oque stayed. When the cries of danger died out, they were still there. High up in the trees, looking through foilage, but nearby enough to listen to what it had to say.

Fighting over food? Who had done that? The three Oque tried to remember it, but they were distracted soon enough as Gandaron continued to talk. "Huts?" Went one of the Oque, not understanding what Gandaron meant. "Comfort?" Asked another Oque, not understanding what Gandaron meant. "Stuff?" Asked the last Oque, not understanding what Gandaron meant. Obviously, these three were not of the bright lot. Which was further augmented when they just stared as Gandaron continued to speak about weird things such as "pledge", "rewards" and "consequences". "God weird." "Peftkt not get." "Tsketkt not get." "God beast?"

Turn 2.5, Group 7, Tumine Barok

A bustle was heard amongst the Oque now. Not out of conversation, but out of surprise! A not Oque that could speak like they could. It was unheard of! Literally. So when Tumine spoke, the Oque in the trees climbed up higher and the Oque in their huts made sure the were less in sight. Those in the trees climbed towards the huts and they all looked down. They felt save in their trees and huts as they looked down, kind of hoping that the creature could not climb. So, with nothing else to do, they just listen. Scared, but they listen. "How help?" Asked one of the more bold Oque in their company, while the Oque around him tucked themselves tightly behind foliage.

Tumine not Oque, she repeated, continuing to look up at them, but not moving from her spot or attempting to climb.

Tumine Goddess. Have powers, like Oque. Different power. Water good? Tumine begins manifesting water in front of her, from the air. As it hovers and grows slowly in size, she continues:

Other gods exist, she says as she waves an arm back in a wide arc, indicating other places. Other gods bad. Hurt Oque. Make fire; make hurt. Tumine heal. Help Oque grow. Tumine friend.

It.. talked. This fact enough was scared enough to send most of the Oque up the trees or in the bushes. The two who had been sent out, however, came back since they heard it and all the noise the others were making. They looked through the bushes but could not see anything, though with all the shouts of "Danger!" "Being talks!" "Scared!" they made sure not to get near. The child, Tiktbt, did not understand what was happening though and just stood there, confused, as this was obviously not a best. "Best?" it asked to Ardannis, though it actually meant 'beast'. "Flee Tiktbt!" Yelled one of them, but Tiktbt looked confused at it and at Ardannis.

Turn 2.5, Group 7, Tumine Barok

The strange creature was pretty much that, strange. And she could hear the Oque saying that to each other too. But they still looked down. Something that just wanted to talk, despite being completely strange, obviously did not want to eat them. That was a good thing. It then started to talk about powers. Oque had 'powers'? was a regular question amongst themselves, not meant towards Tumine. Yet, that was a question after the Oque saw what Tumine could do. She could create water! They were astonished, baffled and amazed. They only half listen to what she has to say then, still baffled by what they just saw.

Feeling a bit safer, the bold one responds to Tumine Barok after he has overcome his amazement. "Gods? Godess? Fire? Hurt? Water good. Grow good? Make water? Friend? Heal?" It asks, kind of talking randomly. However, the use of Gods and Godess seems to indicate that this Oque does not know that a Goddess might be a God too. Meanwhile, the Oque remain audible, not realising that Tumine might hear it or take offence. Common things that are said is that she is weird and strange. Some say good, but others say bad. After all, if you can make water out of nothing, then what else can she do?

Goddess is God. Tumine Goddess; Tumine God. Help Oque; Tumine make water. Oque make Quax. Quax powerful. Oque powerful. Tumine help. Protect Oque.

The water globule stops growing in front of Tumine.

Looking directly at the bold one, she says, Brave Oque. What name? Want water?

Tumine allows the large drop to fall to the ground, where it forms a small puddle. She backs several paces away from it, not taking her eyes off the brave Oque. Want water? Tumine help; Tumine good; water good.

The bustle form the Oque in the trees indicated that they seemed to get that it was a god, just like they were the Oque. The Oque's powers were to use Quax and warp wood, while she could summon water. Though that seemed to more powerful, they were happy to hear that she wanted to protect them. Then again, "Oque protect Oque.", but "Beast attack Oque." Which basically summed up that they did want to protect each other, but were not as successful. Hence, they thought the same of her. The Oque who spoke up before spoke up again: "Fcinkt. Fcinkt water. Water good." Slowly, it seemed to move a bit towards her, moving to climb down. This increased the bustle up in the trees, with Oque shouting "Danger! Bad!" to "Water good." This made Fcinkt waver and he decided to take the safe option. Just stay where he was, ready to climb down, as well as up. He looks at Tumine. "Fcinkt drink?"

Not get? Gandoran paused for a moment before continuing. Obviously these creatures on the planet weren't as smart as the immortals, so he had to dumb himself down. He hadn't counted on that. He cleared his throat.

"Gandoran." He repeated, hitting his chest hard. "Ground isn't well for sleep... I will find you better. If you find better, take it. War is using your natural power to take what others have. You have more power then others I have seen, and I can improve it." He said slowly, pondering how to best communicate his idea to these creatures. He clenched his fist. "I have power, so you should follow and listen to me." Gandoran rubbed his eyes and then said, "Call back the others if you can." The immortal continued, rubbing his chin, hoping maybe they were more intelligent.

He scanned the trees for a large tree-dwelling non-sentient creature. Maybe a more.. visceral explanation was needed.

The three Oque in the tree listen to Gandaron speaking up. "Peftkt get." "Tsketkt get." "God beast?" Asked the third Oque. Meanwhile, the other continued. "Take. Follow. Take. War." "Take sleep place. Show? Call others." Then, the third Oque, as of yet unnamed, shot a jolt in the air towards the other two. "GOD BEAST?" it asked, upon which the other two asked the same. "God beast?" "God beast?" Meanwhile, a squirrel is darting through the foliage a bit further away. Probably some other animals too.

Turn 2.5, Group 7, Tumine Barok

As Tumine takes a few steps back from the pool, it is all that Fcinkt needs nad was waiting for. With some cries in the back ground from the other Oque, he climbs down and moves to the water. He seems nervous and looks at her, a bit scared, ready to jump at any moment. But, slowly, he moves forwards, to the little pool. As he continues to eye her with his large eye, he moves over the pool with his six legs and lowers his body down to drink with his mouth. When down, a cry came from above: "Water good?" And without turning, Fcinkt responds. "Water good!" This creates another bustle, but this time it proves to be more positive. Some, however, continue to remain wary, not trusting it. "Tumine good!"

Turn 2.4, group 31, Ardannis

"Tiktbt!" Shouts the Oque again, but even amongst the other Oque he sounds a bit stupid for trying to call the child again. especially when the child says "No! Play! Ardannis play!" Then, from the bushes, the two Oque that had been hiding there step forward. They almost seem to do it because the one shouting at Tiktbt wants the child to flee. "Rtskink talk." "Qwerty talk." "How help?" "No beast?"

Sedha gracefully drifted out of the shadows near where she had detected a small, Oque band. She was getting better at that at least, although she had yet to adapt to the clumsiness of this physical body.

She turned to face the Oque band, and once again, walked until she found the creatures, this time lingering in the shadows nearby, carefully observing them. This time, she would learn more about these creatures before trying to speak to them.

"Wonderful." Gandoran said, when two of them finally 'got it'. "Not beast. I am Gandoran. You are Oque. I am an Immortal, one of many. I am friend to you, and you will I help." He spoke crisply, eyeing the one which fired. That one had a killer instinct. Watching the squirrel he decided against doing anything to it and watched the Oques.

"Now that we all understand each other.. how many are you? Who leads you?"
He asked, wondering where the nearest 'peaceful' Oque settlement was. Huts for his soldiers.. they would need explorers as well... this was all going nicely.

He puts his front legs on the ground, moving on all six legs as much like an Oque as he can. See? Not beast. Help Oque find food, play games. Help Oque against beasts.

With any luck, he'd be able to figure out a trick or two to protect these species from their predators. The real trick would be getting them to trust him first.

Turn 2.4, Group 31, Ardannis

"Play! Play!" Said the child Oque as it jumped around Ardannis in a joyful manner. It made Rtskink and Qwerty smile. "How help?" "Not beast. Find food?" "Help with beasts?" Then, before Ardannis could answer, one of the Oque climbed down. "No. Ardannis leave! Beast!" Said it, but even the Oque in the tree now started to look in doubt. How Ardannis would tackle this would shape the opinion of those in the trees.

Turn 2.5, Group 15, Gandaron

"Gandaron help." "Gandaron Immortal." "Friend?" The Oque said, partially to themselves, partially to Gandaron. "How help?" Was the question, but the other two responded to the questions asked. They seemed to be more setting themselves more comfortably now, feeling safe in the trees as they conversed. "Leader? No leader. What leader?" "Many.." The Oque spoke the word as if tasting it. Then, it tried to count. "Many?" It came to. Apparently, the art of counting was something these creatures did not know of.

Turn 2.5, Group 7, Tumine Barok

"Fcinkt brave? Fcinkt brave! What want? Want.." It seemed to think for a moment, but the Oque in the trees were filling that one up. "No beasts!" "Food!" "Water!" "Tumine leave!" This last one caused some spark of debate in the form of "Yes!" "No!" and that repeated. That died down as they looked down again. "Oque said. Tumine help." Which basically amounted to that if Tumine did any of what the other Oque said, they would be happier.

Turn 2.8, Sedhe, Group 3

Sedhe, however, found some difficulties in trying to observe the Oque from afar. Their eyes were keen and they had, several times, almost noticed Sedhe. One time they might have seen a movement from Sedhe's direction, as they ran away quickly. Luckily Sedhe remained careful, caught up and saw what the Oque were doing. The children were darting around, playing with some of the other Oque. They usually stuck with those Oque, not going with the other Oque who went out to gather food. The food gathering usually happened in groups of three, to make sure that they could observe their surroundings well enough. Some times, Sedhe saw that the Oque spotted a predator before it had spotted them, and ran away quickly. They seemed afraid of predators, calling them "Beasts". They usually stuck with each other and their speech was very limited and not well practised. They had no technology to speak of and lived the life of running away a lot or climbing up trees from predators. They gathered food and took care of their children. If sticking around long enough, and being careful enough, Sedhe would even be able to see a mating ritual, where three had ate a lot, came together, held their feet together and gave off light. After recovering, the group quickly moved on.
