I've been told to get more iron into my diet. On the shopping list is canned spinach (to be combined with soup for cream-of-spinach soup), some liver (it's been ages, maybe I'll like it now, and it's cheap enough to bear experiment), and black pudding (no proper blood sausage here). Any other foods which spring to mind?

    Iron content of various foods/drinks
Food / Drink Iron content (mg)
    1 pint of guinness 0.3mg
    100g ready-to-eat apricots 3.4mg
    100g ready-to eat prunes 2.6mg
    1 egg 1.1mg
    bowl of weetabix 4.2mg
    bowl of porridge (40g) 1.6mg
3 oz grilled lamb chop 1.9mg

The RDA (recommended daily allowance) of iron for men is 11mg and 14mg for women. Needs can be higher in women who have high menstrual losses.

I advise Weetabix and apricots twice a day.

Guinness is not as great for you as I'd hoped... neither is red meat.

Red meat has the extra chemicals you need to absorb it, though. Is that table total iron content, or the iron that's actually useable?
