Assassin in the palace
A 7 player semi-werewolf game.
His most glorious king, he who causes the sun to rise, flowers to bloom, pigs to mate has had a price put on his head. The greatest assassin in the kingdom has infiltrated the guards. Luckily nobody but the sacred guards know what king looks like.
Guards: Their are five guards, they know the name of the king. You want the king to survive.
King: You have no special abilities, you want to survive.
Assassin: You want to kill the king. When lynched you can kill a player of your choice.
No PMs between players.Last edited by Emperor Demonking; 2008-05-31 at 07:31 AM.

Re: Assassin in the palace
Count me in. You might want to put the 'no PM's between players once the game begins' rule in bold or so in the original post, or make it otherwise a bit more visually noteworthy. It's a fairly important rule after all, that shouldn't be missed.

Re: Assassin in the palace
I think the game is already full, Bayar. But as to how? Simple: The king is either evil, or harbouring a major secret in his identity, or both. He knows it's not yet time for the big, dramatic, reveal, so he remains in the darkness until the time is right.
But rest assured, when the time is right, he will emerge from under that pink umbrella, and all the kingdom shall know his face!Last edited by GAThraawn; 2008-05-31 at 10:48 AM.

Re: Assassin in the palace
You knew the ancient tradition of guards covering their faces with the heavy metal helmets was silly. Without them the assassin could've been caught straight away. But you weren't going to be the one to suggest flouting a hundred year old tradition.
You looked at the dead body of the king's blind butler. He was poisoned but the poison didn't kill him until he had time to give the five guards warning. Eventually you knew, someone would have to be killed for the glory of the king.

Re: Assassin in the palace
Okay. Jean looks at the 6 other men around him. Well without counting the King there should only be 4 other guards so the assassin is one of us. Despite the fact that we guards know of the king, we must mask his identity. This is quite the conundrum.

To continue the trend, I point at GAThraawnSpoiler

But that's not fair! I don't know who's going to post below me! You're forcing me to break the trend for your own amusement.

Re: Assassin in the palace
It doesn't matter if you don't know. If you point at someone who hasn't yet voted, that person will magically appear out of nowhere in no time.
Of course... it's also possible that you're the assassin and don't want to run the risk of accidentally pointing at the king, which might very well expose your identity. It's not a stretch to believe that - unless the assassin has Russian Roulette-type tendencies - he won't be the one to vote all that early on. Though there are of course exceptions to such theories.Spoiler

Re: Assassin in the palace
So... I'm a bit confused.
The assassin can't kill anyone without dying himself, right?
And there's no way to get the king lynched, right?
So how does the Assassin win?

Re: Assassin in the palace
It seems probable that the assassin can kill a player every night, without risk of dying.

Re: Assassin in the palace
I definitely want to play in the next one of these games.
I don't think all these little games of Emperor Demonking's work very well rules-wise, but they have the advantage of being small and quick to run, so he can do lots and lots of them and experiment with rules that no-one else can. In short I think they're a great idea and I've been waiting for one I really like the sound of to appear. Unfortunately it was filled before I even saw it :(
But please run another and put me first on the list to play.

I don't like this deadlock, I point at GAThraawn to start bandwagon option one even though it'll probably mean I'll soon become bandwagon option two.

Re: Assassin in the palace
No the assassin wins if he kills the king once he gets lynched, the longer he stays in the game the larger the chance that he will pick the correct player.
We lynch someone every day so the number of players that can be the king will reducing rapidly.
Thank you for that Shadowcaller.

Re: Assassin in the palace
GAThraawn was looking at the rest of you holding a knife and a stick as he started to carve. He didn't think the accusations were that substansial. Or at least he didn't think so until he was attacked by two of the men causing him to drop his carving.
As he was trusted against the wall his head was chopped off and rolled to his carving. Only one man was that good at carving and that man was a loyal guard.
GAThraawn was killed.
