After looking around for a familiar face, and seeing none, Cac-kt starts to wander. Not being able to find anyone (anyone being: Flounder or Gall) Cac-kt starts to wanders around, fetches his weaponry, and then moves to find either: the melee tournament, or the obstacle course.

Longbows can't be used while mounted, so a borrowed short bow it is. -1 since the shortbow isn't masterwork, but +1 again since I don't think you added in the bracer's of archery bonus. Considering a -2 circumstance attack penalty for an uncooperative platform... and I see 5 hits.

Pots have 2hp, now re-rolling the damage as d6s.

With rapid precision Alexis quickly takes out the row of pots despite the uncooperative barrel. For several seconds the crowed cheers as she waits atop the quivering 'mount' for the time to expire so her victory can be declared.

"And we have a new grand champion! Well done!"

Sh*t it is.

The sudden rolling movement of the barrels catches you off guard. You manage to cling briefly to the 'mount' before loosing your grip and tumbling into the sand to the cheerful boos and laughter of the crowed.

After a bit of aimless wander where you are nearly assaulted by merchants offering you goods to buy (I'm assuming you've gone to retrieve some cash and redeem the held gear that was held) you find yourself in front of a very interesting sign.

"Whackarat. Yes, sounds like fun. And it gets me into the obstacle course. How hard can it be to kill a rat?" Cac-kt signs up for the competition, happily entering straight away. He does, however, have one question for the signer-up person. "Do we have to kill the rat? If I sign up, could I win by capturing the rat instead? I'd like to keep the rat, but I'd rather it was alive. Dead rats are boring."

A goblin with a paint can scuttles around the corner and begins to make corrections to the sign.

"Good luck flop face!" one repeat viewer jeers, but having already seen the worst once before you're ready this time.

At the whistle the barrels gives a spirited jerk but Hallia's ready and not only stays atop this time but opens up with a volley.

*Whack!* *Whoosh* *Whack!* *Whoosh* *Whack!* *Whack!*

Of his first six shots two miss, but the remainder strike true shattering clay vessels to the cheers of the crowed. With 5 seconds to go the mage half turns lifting his bow in victory before the crowed, but the move costs his balance and nearly sends him tumbling to the ground. However he makes a small recovery and manages to stay on his ride until the final whistle blows and he can drop safely to the ground without risking a DQ.

The crowed gives a mix of laugher and cheers as the contest master comes forward to hand you a commemorative dart.

"Well done champion! Now, if you'll just step this way I'll see about arranging for you to either participate in or view the upcoming Riding Trial"

The clerk looks up at you and frowns slightly. "Uh... sure mons, ah, Sir. You don't have to kill it, only knock it out. You win as long as it's limp and unconscious, actual killing isn't required."

After a short wait in line with other rat wackers its your turn. You are offered your choice of a simple club, quarterstaff, or great club. You may only strike the rat with the selected weapon they explain. After taking a weapon you are quickly ushered int the arena ring where you stand slightly uncertain holding the wooden implement as they shut the ring door behind you. The ring is bounded by a 5 ft tall smooth glassy wall and is 15 feet wide. Outside the ring on one side are a set of bleachers full of wide-eyed whispering humanoids, with an assorted mix of fair workers standing quietly (and out of sight of the spectators) along the other sides.

Post when you're ready along with your weapon of choice.
Also, roll initiative.

Cac-kt picks up the club(s), and awaits his turn, fidgeting with nervous excitment. When his turn comes, he's positively bouncing. Wow! My first competition! I can't wait!

Soon after you arrive back at the exotic stable a horn blows and people all around you turn to crowed a street to cheer. Being in the back away from the street you can't see much, but you can spot what appears to be a burly orc playing a war-horn from the back of a dire-bear leading a procession of colorful flags on longspears. You can't see the creatures holding the flags.

Down by your feet a small voice rises up: "Mommy, I can't see... what is it?" as a young halfling child addresses a female adult, who is trying to hold on to a second child that looks determined to crawl through the forest of legs ahead of them. Apparently they have an even worse view than you.


Hallia
55 minutes pass from the time you leave the wac-a-rat to the time you leave the riding challenge. Outside you find a long festive procession winding its way past you. Small knots of warriors of a myriad of races holding standards on spears are move past. It would be sorry excuse for a parade, but it looks like hundreds of fair goers have joined in around the dignitaries swelling the line into a long flowing mass.

Rat Initiative - (1d20+3)[21]

You don't have to wait long: shortly after the door closes a rat is suddenly tossed into the arena without warning. It's 15 pounds of scarred rat four feet in length from the tip of it's nose to the end of it's tail.

The rat is quick to right itself and shake loose the sand, but still not quite as fast on the uptake as you are.

Upon seeing the rat, Cac-kt bawlks slightly. Whoa. That's a big rat!

Still, Cac-kt, grasping both of his clubs single-handedly, as soon as he gets over the size of the rat, throws his clubs directly at the rat!

I've taken a penalty to deal non-leathal damage, but none for range increments. Due to not dealing leathal damage, no sneak attack. Sorrow. The rat is, however, on a flat footed AC, so hopefully they'll still hit.

"Oooooooo" the audience coos as the clubs go spinning through the air to impact against the wide-eyed dire rat.

"Congratulations to our newest grand champion! Would you like to take the rat or a commemorative dart?"

"Don't touch my..." the halfling woman starts to snap before pausing to take a good look at you for the first time. "Ooo! Please Moma" "I wanna see..."

"Ah, err... ok, if thats what the children want..." The woman restarts somewhat uncertainly.

"Yay!"

A brief consultation of the map revels a booth titled "Zig's Shooting Gallery" as one of the other qualification booths. It's located at the opposite end of the fair ground, on the other side of the parade.

Alexis picks up the children, and holds them up on her shoulders. "Can you see alright up there?"

B) force/charm you're way through the parade with (str, tumble, diplomacy)
C) navigate around the parade (Knowledge(arcitacture, local) or Survival)

The children happily state from there perch: The smaller standing on one shoulder, the taller sitting on the opposite shouler, with both clutching at your head and hair for balance. There mother stands wringing her hands below, her face fluctuating between gratitude, fear, and worry.

Alexis holds the children up as steady as she can. "Don't worry, they're in good hands." she says to the woman. "Just hold on to my arms and head up there, not my hair. You're hurting the nice lady here."
