Re: Planar Olympics (IC)
Cac-kt
You leave the Rat at your lodging and drift around the fair looking for something interesting. A few hours later after sample, smelling, and watching the antics of the fair you find a most intriguing sign.
Henry's Obstacle Tower: Fame at the Top!
Try for 4sp or view for 2cp!
Grand Prizes: Free Attendance or Participation at Olympic Trial Obstacle Courses plus commemorative dart.
Standard Prize: Dart only.
Grand prize awarded for reaching top within 30 seconds, standard for completing course in 50 seconds. Limit one prize per individual. Maximum 2 tries allowed to achieve grand prize. Viewing limited to two attempts per purchase.
Hallia & Alexis
At one end of a twisty ally not built for fair goers is a halfling accused of pick-pocketing. He is currently being detained by a determined looking woman holding a diminutive hand crossbow (by what usually is the pointy end). There's a brief struggle between the two that ends with the thief staggering backwards a step.
At the other end of the street is an affluent looking man (a mage?) standing with many other gawkers drifting forward to see the commotion.
Surging forward from the gawkers toward the human woman and the male halfling is a minor mob composed of four classes of individuals. Everyone who discovered they had been robbed (and is assuming this is the robber), burley 'assistance' to robbed nobility come to claim interest on the loss in pounds of flesh, hooligans who are pretending to be robbed in hopes of a cut, and three outnumbered guardsmen who are supposed to keep the order.
Crime pays for those few who avoid detection (in this fair less than 40%) but is painfully expensive to the majority who are caught. Like this thief.
The mob stumbles to a halt as alargish catmassive feline,a panther of sortsa lion large even compared to it's own kind, rounds a corner and moves to the woman's side in response to the commotion. The guards fight to the front of the crowd where one moves toward the woman, thief, and cat while the other two demand order and try (with very limited success) to force the crowd backward and out of the alley.Last edited by Psionic Dog; 2008-12-29 at 12:23 PM.

Re: Planar Olympics (IC)
Cac-kt
4 sp later and a short wait in line and you are off!
Spoiler
Grandprize target time: 30 seconds (5 rounds or less)
Consolation Standard prize: 50 seconds (8 rounds)
Floor 1: 35 ft uneaven footing: Default skill balance, Difficulty: Easy
Transition 1: 15 ft tall roughly stacked-log wall: Default skill: climb, Difficulty: Easy
Floor 2: 2 sets of balancing planks 10 ft long 5 inches wide separated by a 5ft platform with another 5ft wide platform above/below each climbing segment. Default skill: balance, Difficulty: Medium
Transition 2: 15 ft tall slightly smoothed stacked-log wall. Default skill: climb, Difficulty: Medium
Please post: checks under "Obstacle 1, 2, 3, 4"
I'd suggest extra check in case of failures. Each obstacle set requires 1 check per move action spent crossing. Please note if you are using accelerated balance/climb at any points and include the -5 penalty if you do.
The skills listed are defaults. Creative/alternative methods may be considered provided you still pass through the 5x5 ft openings above each climbing wall. Except for the checkpoint openings, the course is 10 ft wide.

Re: Planar Olympics (IC)
Cac-kt
Upon being given the all clear to go, Cac-kt charges through, as fast as he can. "Haha! And the games are on!"
SpoilerOK, running 20 feet to get the nice jump check...obstacle 1: jump - (1d20+63)[77] I'm assuming that I can try to not jump too far. 35 feet should be a DC 35. That's used a total of 55 feet.
Obstacle 2: jump - (1d20+63)[66] 15 foot high should be a DC 60. Which makes it 70 feet used.
Obstacle 3: having difficulty picturing this one. jump - (1d20+63)[80] If jumping it isn't possible then balance - (1d20+17)[33] And that's however far.
Obstacle 4: jump - (1d20+63)[70] Didn't see that coming, didja?[/roll] And being able to move 80 feet a round, with double move actions, there ya go.For the last time, it stands for Shadow of Darkness!

Re: Planar Olympics (IC)
Cac-kt
As the sandbag drops towards him, Cac-kt reaches out, and, as it falls, and Cac-kt rises towards it, reaches out with a clawed hand and knocks it to the side. Landing on top of the tower, Cac-kt looks out to the crowds, mentally bathing in their applause (weather they applaud or not).
SpoilerDeflect Arrows. I'm assuming it works on sandbags as well? If not, it didn't hit. AC 22.For the last time, it stands for Shadow of Darkness!

Re: Planar Olympics (IC)
Cac-kt
"Jump! Jump! Jump!" the crowd starts chanting after you clear the second obstacle. When you finnish the course the chant dissolves into applause, whistles, cries of "go grasshopper!" and the like.
"Annd we have a new grand champion!" The official cries. "Well done! Now just come with me and we'll see about getting you entrance of viewing passes." He finishes as he leads you to a table with two large volumes and a pen. The book has a place to mark for either competition or viewing.
Alexis and Hallia
The crowd erupts in screams of anger and terror at the lightning bolt.
"ENOUGH!" One of the guards screams as the other two scamper forward to grab the unresisting halfling.
"You all know the laws, and if you don't just read the signs by the entrances. Now, Make Way! Were taking this being back to the courthouse to be tried within the hour. If any of you wish to bring witness or press charges please follow calmly behind. We will not destroy the peace over one little being anyone who does not desist will face charges to. Now, Make Way!"
The crowd calms slightly and keeps it's distance without retreating, while those in the back make a little more room for the wizard.
"Ma'am, want to be a deputy for an hour?" One of the guards asks Alexis.Last edited by Psionic Dog; 2008-12-30 at 10:33 PM.
