Oil covering the ground [3.5]
Reading through my player's handbook (again), and I realized AGAIN how bad I am at terms like "5 feet square". Since 1 square is 5 feet, would that be 1 square then? I also noticed for walls its HP per 10 feet by 10 feet square or something, and some spells and effects have areas 10 feet across (would that be 2 squares?) I'm really confused, and I was wondering if someone could help me with these terms so they are easier to memorize.

Each square is 5 feet on each side. 10 feet by 10 feet is four squares.
Many spells (say, fireball) have areas keyed to their radius, so the fireball's "20 foot radius spread" is actually 8 squares across.
