Default Tips for building a Trustee? [3.5, Eberron]

I'm going to be playing an agent of the semi-sinister gnomish Trust in another game--he's undercover to investigate a DM-created adventurers' guild that's known for an extremely secretive board of directors/high council.

So far, the only mechanics-related thing I've established fluff-wise is that he uses a sword cane (a rapier). I'd like to use the concealable weapons presented in Complete Scoundrel, too (unless they're out of my price range. I don't recall right now.)

    Crunchy stuff:

    -Attributes rolled were 16, 15, 14, 13, 11, 10.
-Max starting gold for class @ level one.
    -Obviously, a gnome. (+2 CON, -2 STR)

I was leaning more towards a rogue, a factotum, or a ninja--limitations on sources tend to be pretty loose (nothing ubercheesy).

    Anyone have any thoughts?

I'd go rogue, perhaps with a level of swashbuckler and the feat that works to combine both.

Artificers can be fun - you don't have to take them down the cheese route. Some of their infusions, especially a couple in Magic of Eberron fit with the secret agent feel.

The sword cane isn't ideal in this case, admittedly.
