Re: Avatar the last air bender. Bender battle(and a monk.)!
Sikkun let out a sigh and decided he'd best return to his "tactical retreat" strategy, at least until he had a better way to deal with this ridiculously powerful monk.
SpoilerStandard: Mist seed. 30-ft radius. Centered on SE corner of J14.
Move: Ski to O17.
Going somewhere, I promise.

Re: Avatar the last air bender. Bender battle(and a monk.)!
Mist. Why is it always mist? First the blindness, then the snow getting in his face, then some strange sand flying around that may or may not have been there. Urg. So much easier to fight out in the open.
At least this fighter wasn't too careful, and made a noise like an elephant making his way around...
SpoilerErm. I'm gonna make a listen check, 'kay? You're not trying to move silently, and you're not running, so I'm gonna make that a standard DC of 10, as that of an unarmored person, before distance, alright? You started off 20 feet a way, so that makes the DC 12. If I hear you, I launch my Air Blast at you. Fair enough? 1 - 50 on the miss chance is a hit. 51 - 100 is a miss.
Let me know if you're not okay with any of this. You can't see me, so I don't think you get a Deflect attempt (unless you make a Reflex save, as if you were flat-footed), so if you get hit, make the Bull Rush check opposed by my Airbending check of 27.
Listen - (1d20+10)[20]
Air Blast - (1d20+17)[22]
Miss Chance - (1d100)[24]

Re: Avatar the last air bender. Bender battle(and a monk.)!
SpoilerI'm fine with you listening. I'll do the rolls for the reflex to deflect (and subsequent actions due to it), in addition to the opposed check.
Deflection Series:
"Reflex Save" - (1d20+10)[12] vs DC 16
-"Deflect Attempt" - (1d20)[5] (I don't know what modifiers go here actually. Is it an opposed attack based off DEX? I'll tally it up after I roll the die.) vs DC 22
--"Circular Attack Attempt" - (1d20+10)[11] vs DC 22
---"Waterblast Attack - (1d20+10)[18] vs your AC
Opposing the Bull Rush:
"Opposed Check" - (1d20+2)[3] (Autofail)
Wow, those rolls sucked. I wind up in...L20, with 1d6 nonlethal? And I need to make a save vs prone.

SpoilerMwaha. Nice. Now it's seriously go time. I launch an air blast in your general direction, not particularly caring whether I hit you or not, then make a mad dash to threaten you. ...what? Oh, the Haste effect from my tea gives a +1 to attack and Reflex saves, if that's what you're talking about, alongside an extra 30 feet of movement and an extra attack in a full attack.

SpoilerSame here.
(1d20+3)[6]
[EDIT]: Dirty Fighting from Sword and Fist? That version at least needs a full round attack action to use.
[EDIT2]: Since I'm stunned, I'm dead. You can just Decisive Strike me for PA: -LOTS.
[EDIT3]: Mind giving me a rundown on your AB, too? I can get 16 on your hands from BAB, wep focus, STR, and Hand bonus, but that's still 4 short of what you have (+20).Last edited by AlterForm; 2008-07-27 at 11:49 PM.

Re: Avatar the last air bender. Bender battle(and a monk.)!
SpoilerYou, good sir, are stunned. But you are correct on Dirty Fighting. Urg. Take away that 3 damage on that last attack. It requires a full-attack to use, and we are about to see one. My turn. You are flat-footed and drop anything in your hands. Let's roll now.
Haste grants one extra attack at my full BAB for another 7 turns, and you're going to be feelin' it real soon with your AC 16. Full (-5) Power Attack kicking combo, using my Decisive strike ability to make 2 decisive strikes instead of 4 normal attacks.
Attack 1 - (1d20+13)[32]
Attack 2 - (1d20+13)[29]
Damage 1 - (1d10+19)[25] + (1d4)[1] = 26 x 2 = 52
Damage 2 - (1d10+19)[27] + (1d4)[2] = 29 x2 = 58
And, of course, each one gets knock-down if it hits for 10 or more damage, so...
Knock-down 1 - (1d20+7)[17]
Knock-down 2 - (1d20+7)[24]
The first attack is also a Stunning Fist. Roll Fortitude. If you somehow survive.Last edited by Eighth_Seraph; 2008-07-27 at 11:52 PM.

Re: Avatar the last air bender. Bender battle(and a monk.)!
Doesn't matter; your second attacks connected and dealt twice my HP in damage easily. I'm dead dead.
[EDIT]: Whoa, I swear the numbers on your rolls changed when I refreshed the page. Freaky.
[EDIT2]: Judging by your feat selection, a lot of your AB and Damage came from the class itself and your moderately-high 16 STR. That strikes me as off, when my AC of 19 is probably about the best a bender could manage at this level.
[EDIT3]: Heading to bed. Initiate further analysis of battle in morning.Last edited by AlterForm; 2008-07-28 at 12:01 AM.

Re: Avatar the last air bender. Bender battle(and a monk.)!
As the shockwaves from Rialu's vicious roundhouse resound around the coliseum, everything suddenly becomes still. An expression of intense pain overcomes Sikkun's face, and blood escapes his mouth. Even as he falls to the floor, Rialu's left leg comes whistling towards his face, and the impact booms through the stands. A sickening crack is heard as the waterbender's head hits the floor, clearly never to rise again.
Rialu looks at his dead opponent in utter disgust and hatred at himself. He had been a worthy opponent. Why didn't I hold back? Why did I kill him? I could've hit a less sensitive area...
"DAMN IT!"
The crowd stands and cheers wildly, interpreting it as a victory sign.
"NO! SHUT UP! THIS IS WRONG! This is...wrong..."
Rialu shuffles pensively to the coliseum's northern gate. Wondering what this new moral turn could mean for him in the future.Last edited by Eighth_Seraph; 2008-07-28 at 12:00 AM.

Re: Avatar the last air bender. Bender battle(and a monk.)!
And yeah, you're right about the bender's cripplingly low AC and my post changing. I accidentally sent my post twice when I meant to edit it, so I erased one, and didn't realize that the rolls were different on the second one. The first try actually did more damage, but still.
I think that the monk did about as much damage as a barbarian could have done in the same circumstances. The damage came mostly from being able to Power Attack and use decisive strikes to grant an effective +20 to damage with kicks. And the chi-enhancing tea that gave me the fourth attack to do two decisive strikes. I'll ask on the gaming boards if that's a decent sum of damage, or if it's broken.
G'night, Alterform. Good game.Last edited by Eighth_Seraph; 2008-07-28 at 12:05 AM.
