    Round 2 - PC action resolution

    Jin quickly assesses the situation as the bloodthirsty wolf-bats zero in on his exposed flesh, their hunger making their attacks shoddy. Jin's counter engulfs them both with flames, but not before they each take advantage of the opening he provides. After a swift bite each, though, the flames surround and consume them, and one drops to the floor. As the other prepares to lunge at Jin yet again, a thin shard of clear ice pierces its ribs, and a soft thump is heard as it hits the ground. Both remain still, their bloodlust overcome by pain and exhaustion, their screeching and howling finally silenced.

    The two armadillo-lions are completely at a loss for what to do, their prey behind a wall of flames and the blackening scorch marks on their skins overcoming their senses. Immediately after bridge takes flames, they both curl instinctively into their hard shells, showing their gleaming backs to the benders in a display of defensive submission.

    As you make a hole beneath yourself and prepare yourself to fall through, you are surprised by the sudden realization that the tunnel doesn't end at the point to which you made it. Suddenly, you hit the floor after falling for 25 feet, and the echo of your fall tells you that you are in a much larger room than the the 5-foot wide hole you had made. A strange smell tea fills your nostrils. As you land, you hear a surprised gasp, quickly followed by the feeling of hard rock against your arms and legs.

    Turak is launched back five feet, and feels both of his arms and one of his legs trapped against a rock wall behind him. Immediately afterwards, a powerful impact hits you unexpectedly in your abdomen, and you would double over from pain if the shackles around your arms allowed you to move.

You have one minute to prepare for another onslaught. I must also thank you for preserving the lives of my beasts, though perhaps you will find the next beasts quite a bit more difficult to tame.


    As he finishes speaking, the northern gate of the arena opens up with a clanking of chains, and a team of six handlers clambers around the column of earth raising the boar-q-pine's body and to the armadillo-lions, rolling them back into the animal pits for a feeding and some first aid. As the beasts go in, the crowd roars with approval at this new turn of events, and the Earth King himself stands and applauds from his ornate granite throne in the northern part of the stands.

    It's pitch black and you can't see a thing, but your feet are in contact with the floor, so you could use Tremorsense, without taking the -25 penalty since it doesn't really require movement.

    Also, try those rolls again. Rolling doesn't work if you preview your post, as I learned today.


    Aaaand we'll pick this up tonight, if possible. In the meantime you each have ten rounds to accept healing from Nikkus, drink a round of chi-enhancing teas, switch weapons, make barricades, whatever. Use them wisely.

    Round 1: Put out the bridge that is on fire. DC is trivial to throw some water on it.
    Round 2: Heal Lo Feng for (4d6+7)[20] points of Health.
    Round 3: Heal Jin for (4d6+7)[21] points of Health.
    Round 4: For simplicity, I'll be conservative and assume it takes 4 rounds to do my next action. That's 8 possible uses of the Manipulate seed, possibly combined with the Freeze seed. Detailed in next round slot.
    Round 5: Move 5-ft cubes of water to M8, O10, M14, O18, G9, and G16, freezing them into 5-ft cubes of ice once they get there. This way I can have relatively easy access to water wherever I go on the field.
    Round 6: Moving Water, as noted.
    Round 7: Moving Water, as noted.
    Round 8: Leaving Open for party requests.
    Round 9: Leaving Open for party requests.
    Round 10: Liquid Armor Seed augmented to +7 AC and DR 10/piercing. (AC 21, touch 21, flat-footed 17; DR 10/piercing on top of DR 6/-)

    No Reflex save, and I'll tell you why. You can't see or otherwise sense whoever or whatever is doing this to you. Two, the bindings on your hands and feet are done by attack rolls, and not all of them are succeeding, so it's fair, I assure you. The new effect that's trapping you does not allow a save because you are unable to move due to the new set of bindings on your hands and feet. Right now the only action you can use is Tremorsense, since the earth covers your mouth, unless you have some other motionless ability.

    You're at P14. The other two creatures are two men in loose fighting robes with stone shells covering their feet, both in fighting stances directed at you. the chamber you're in is 10 feet high, and all the lighter brown squares are pillars holding the roof up.

    Don't worry, you're not out of the fight just yet. Wait 'til I get back from work tonight.

    Hmm. ten rounds. It's not like I can do much more than get in a good position and drink some tea. So I'll do just that. Easy Firebending check to hop on the 10 foot pillar at P8. I have ten rounds, I can take my time. I will also drink A Chi enhancing tea At round 9. Round 10 is readying an action to Fireblast+Blue Fire+Firekick anything that sticks it's ugly mug at me.

    Also, when we get those listen check results? Out of curiosity?

    Should Nikkus be suspicious at this point, since he noticed the Earth King is currently being replace by a stand-in? He's on edge at least now that Turak disappeared into a pit of earth, but is there enough evidence so far to suggest that something very weird is going on?

    I dunno, should he? I haven't given you any more information than your character has access to, though I am impressed that you cared enough to actually ponder the clues I gave you. For that, I'll throw you a bone.

    As the cheering of crowd subsides and each person can be seen mentally counting to sixty, you notice that the "Earth King" has remained standing and seems on edge, apparently counting off a minute in his mind as well. As the appointed time winds down, he removes his decadent headwear and his outer robes to the utter shock of his attendants, who had been thoroughly taken in by the disguise.

    The man revealed is one with a lean, stone-hard face with merciless, determined eyes. He wears a set of loose green combat robes bearing the Royal Sign of the Earth Kingdom and practical shoes made for jumping, but there's not much else that can be seen at this distance. His posture is perfect, that of a soldier, or else of a master of etiquette, and he holds a steaming cup of tea in his hand, now visibly covered in small plates of stone.


    I'm pretty sure you know what he is, but Nikkus probably doesn't. Knowledge (local) check, please. DC 15
