since you dont really need anything in town i skiddle you over to the ruin.
After a while of riding you reach the ruin.

green: dense shrubbery and high plants. gray: rocks. Yellow: sand. Orange: ruin. black: entrance
time to set up a ambush!

Dresil reins in his horse, and stops, surveying the area.

Hmm, my best idea would be to find any bodies of water. We could turn that sandbar into quicksand easily. Then perhaps we can cover the trap with foliage.

    Falwell Colms

Falwell surveys the area, noticing the rocks and sand and dense foliage. This seems like a better place for us to be ambushed then for us to organize any sort of ambush ourselves. Falwell is not the one to be doing any sort of ambush if he can help it, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and this is in the service of the king...

Falwell can run it all through his head, but it never sounds or feels any better to be sitting here on his horse when there are things that need dealing with. Anxious and curious he speaks to the group.

Well friends, this ruin here is our target, but is what we want going to come out to us, I don't think so. We are going to have to enter and push forward towards our goal, whatever may stand there. I say we head in, even if this does stink of an ambush, because I've lived through many before this, and if they want to fight, they will get one.

Falwell clicks and urges the horse forward closer to the entrance of the ruin, looking around for signs of life or recent activity near by.

Valance looks milidly irritated with what Falwell said and responds with "If you want to walk into what is almost certainly an ambush that is your concern. But I won't follow you into it. I will be waiting out here, if you get in trouble run out here screaming and I will deal with whatever is chasing you."

Valance then proceeds to hop up into the rocks right by the ruin entrance and spend a good bit of time hiding himself just so. He then prepares to surprise whatever Falwell scares up.

Dresil will first dismount his horse, and tie him up somewhere out of the way. He then gets Valance's attention, making sure he is watching the bard before he acts. First Dresil puts his finger to his lips in a 'shh' fashion. Then he casts Alter Self (Duration 60 minutes) to make him look like a green half dragon, then walks into the cave.

Davhid dismounts his horse, and quietly ties it up out of the way, heading towards the opening to the ruin on foot. Standing roughly fifty feet from the entrance, Davhid draws a previously unseen elven-made longbow from his quiver and notches an arrow and draws a line of sight to just over Dresil's shoulder.

Dresil finds himself walking down a long corridor (30 feet) at the end is a large opening with stone door rubble around. you notice that the walls here are insanely sound proof and as you peek into the next room(which is a series of stairs and hallways) you hear echoes of.... something.

there is a heavily armed hobgoblin, a kobold in studded leather, a goblin in a brigandine, a stunningly beautiful human with a long red cape and a leather corset and last comes a man with a long coat and a heavy hood.

Dresil's face shows no emotion to the crossbow, as he first looks into the wielder's eyes, casting Charm Person (Will save DC 17), then addresses the party.

You don't recognize a half dragon when you see one? I am one of Gyaradan's trussted lieutenants, Hadresytharskaan. He has given me a Ssending to delve into these very ruins and meet up with you. Something much more urgent requires your attention, there is a shipment of weapons coming into the halfling city headed for Erwind the Usurper. Lord Gyaradan needs you to stop it from reaching the human king. Gyaradan has instructed me to take charge of the artifact while you sstop the weaponss. If they are not, it could sspell disaster for our troopss.

    Dresil simply grins.

Of course. This here is my asssistant. I can't expect to go stomping over Erwind the Foul's lands freely, yet. I have to have someone who at least lookss like an honorable man loyal to Erwind. Now tell me he does not look like one who fights for the human? It is the perfect disguise for Lord Gyaradan's needs!

Dresil will take a 5' step away from hostility, then cast Invisibility. Move 15' away from the group then turn.
