" Sir Akarain is the son of a very high standing noble" the king begins "he is a good friend of mine which is why i send you. He was recently taken prisoner in a skirmish and the commander of the enemy force is demanding ransom. Now i dont trust this guy AT ALL so i expect it to be trap of some kind." the king pulls up a small chest "a nobles ransom." he says "in fine gems. he would not accept gold as it would be to hard to transport, he said. Now it is VERY important that you act with caution and do this trade by the rules. you exchange the prisoner and the bounty at the exact same time and then take him to Tar Urut as fast as possible." the king puts the chest on the table in front of you "If you take the east road down to Nower and follow that Road to Sumwer you will reach Nosok some hours after midnight i reckon. Show the guards this *puts a sealed document on table* and they should let you in. you should reach Stumblebottom in less than four hours if you ride relatively fast. From there you will ride to the bridge just west of Tar Urut. there you will exchange the bounty for the prisoner." the king takes a deep breath. "I hope thats clear. Remember: no rash actions and treat the commander with dignity. He likes that. Any questions?"

Dresil pauses to remember all the names of the towns and directions, then he takes both the scroll and chest.

Yes, yes, should be no worry at all then. I expect to be back here in two or three days tops then. We'll get your noble back for you, but just remember, I'm not being paid to babysit. He is going to have to rough it in the wild like all of us.

With that, Dresil turns to leave and mounts up, beginning to ride out with his party members.

Falwell bows to the king, and then in a second turns on his heel and moves swiftly toward the exit of the room. He hops on his horse, and waits just a second for the others to follow.

COME NOW! WE MUST NOT DELAY! COME ON DRESIL, YOU HAVE THE GOLD!

Falwell then waits anxiously on his horse for the party to move out.

Davhid slaps himself in the forehead, as - once again - the knight had ran off without the others. Charging away like that, was, possibly one of the worst things Falwell could do. Then he yells about having gold. Davhid thought angrily. Falwell was probably going to get himself killed, and Davhid made a mental note to be far away when that happened.

You stand at the edge of the bridge. it is broad enough for four horses to ride aside each other and long as a arrowshot.

i THINK you can guess which side of the bridge youre on ;P

It does not take long before the enemy reaches the bridge. In the lead is a knight in full plate armour that bears the seal of the silver lions, however the emblem in slashed by two long, parallel lines. On his left chest area he bears a small emblem shield picturing a black claw. Aside him rides four goblins on huge wolves with what is best described as a exoskeleton. The goblins have black steel armour and long glavies. In the middle of the goblins is a young man in a tattered chain shirt, bound and gagged. he looks very nervous.
They stop at the end of the bridge and waits for a while, the enemy commander examines each of you carefully with his eyes. Then they start riding slowly towards the middle of the bridge...

    Before the baddies arrive:

Valance glances at the others and says "I'll hide on the other side of the bridge and make sure that the kidnappers don't try anything. I recommend that David stay on this side and prepare to shoot them if anything goes wrong." turning to face Falwell Valance adds "Falwell, let Dresil do all the talking. You can't bluff worth a damn." He then heads over the bridge and hides just off the path to the right of the bridge (towards the top of your map).

Dresil takes his sword off of his belt, sheath and all. He slowly walks toward the enemy commander with the weapon in the flat of his palms. He gestures toward the sword.

The king's personal warsword. Perfectly balanced, and imbued with the magical accuracy for decapitation. Let the noble go, and Gyaradan can have the best blade in the kingdom. Drop him off by my feet and I will get off, he can take my horse, and I will walk to give you the payment.

Dresil buckles his sword back onto his belt, as he begins muttering to himself.

If its gems you want then gems you get. Besides, you would be surprised how quickly dwarves work on swords like this. But in any case...

Dresil reaches behind his back to pull out the small chest.

Like I said, you let him go, I get off my horse, he gets on, you get paid. Simple as that.

    Falwell Colms

Falwell is looking at the noble walking towards him, hoping that Valance has something planned, because it does not sit well with him that this devil of a commander will walk away with this much gold value in gems. Falwell grits his teeth, and shakes off the feeling of hopelessness, knowing that Valance's ingenuity and sometimes greed will pay off.

Falwell tries to size up the enemy commander, glaring at him, trying to show him that this knight is the biggest, and the baddest of the bunch. Then it catches his eye; the seal of the sliver lions, besmearched and desicrated by being on this mans armor. Could he have been part of them? Did he at one time stand for exactly what Falwell stood for, and fell? Or, a more reasonable solution, what honorable knight was now face down in a pool of his own blood so that this evil could wear his armor...

It did not sit well with Falwell, but it took his mind off things...

If it is out of spite or because he's remembering somthing, he reaches for the emblem on his chest and runs two fingers trough the two slashed. He seem to wake up from his day dreaming ah the prisoner reaches him.
when the prisoner is behind Dresil the ransomer holds out his hand "and now, the gems."

Dresil gets off his horse, and tells the noble to get on and ride towards his group.

Alright mates, you know the drill. We have the noble, so get him back to safety. I'll stay back here just so these boys don't doublecross us. So go on, get out of here. Falwell, you are in charge of the noble.

Dresil is now dismounted, but still by his horse.

    Falwell Colms

Falwell nods in understanding, and turns his horse around to escort the noble back toward the other end of the bridge, but does so very slowly, also slowing the horse the noble is on with him so he can speak with this man.

Falwell whispers Are you alright sir? Is there anything you require? Healing? Perhaps some food?

As Falwell is asking these questions, he never once takes his eyes off of Dresil and the enemy commander behind him, waiting and watching, he then picks up the pace knowing that something may yet happen... and if he is caught with the noble, that will be his first priority and he will not be able to help his comrades.

The enemy knight stares at Dresil and shows no intention of leaving yet.

"No, thank you." the noble says to Falwell "I got a good punch in my knee but its nothing serious i think. Minor inconvenience" he smiles.

Dresil watches the two ride off, waiting for the rest of the party to leave as well.

Falwell, get him to safety now! Make time for small talk later!
