A magnificently constructed castle with many new fortifications and with many troops patrolling the walls.
A soldier at the gates equipped with chainmail and halberd.
"HALT THAR!" he shouts "NAME AND NUMBER OR I WILL HAVE TO RUN YOU THRU'!"

Dresil calmly pulls out the letter from the king, and holds it out.

I think this should be sufficient in identifying us.

"IF I COULD READ I'D NOT JOIN THE ARMY,KID!" The soldier shouts at Dresil "NAME AND NUMBER! NOW!" he shouts and takes a aggressive stance.

Valance looks at the guard and says "You have exactly two choices at this moment, let us in or get your commander. If you attempt anything else I will kill you and Erwind will pay me for it."

[Shademan]

"We'll see aboot that!" The soldier spits. he picks up some speed and leaps into the air towards Valance, his halberd held over his head.
"They're with me, Johnson!" Arkain, the noble you freed shout from behind you. Johnson twists in mid air and lands in front of Valance's horse (ride check plz) who is prancing in shock.

Having Critical Misses on Skill Checks is an optional rule (somewhere) that some DMs use when PCs skill checks are ridiculously high. Just in case there is that 'fluke' that you screw up. For some reason, they don't use Critical Successes. Or, rather, bad DMs use 20 = Auto-Succeed.

Davhid listens to Valance and Dresil bicker and argue the whole ride. Davhid didn't see the point. Done was done. Then, the group reached the party and was met with a fool who kept shouting 'Name and Number'.
Amazing. The army doesn't use numbers. Since more than half the army can't count past their fingers. And then he attacked an armed party by himself...
Davhid wanted to dismount and start shaking him. But, at this point, Davhid was tired and just didn't have the energy.

[Shademan]

They are led inside the gate where Arkai hastes over to a large man in a battle-worn and dirty armour. "father!" he shouts with a smile "My son! it is great to see that you're still kicking!" they talk among themselves for a while before the Father sends his son into the keep and rides toward the party.
"I can't thank you enough for saving my son." he says with a smile that is obviously a rare thing on this rugged old face "But please, stay here for tonight and i will arrange a small feast to celebrate the return of my son and our heroes!"

[Dresil]

Dresil smiles, getting off his horse and handing it off to whomever.

That sounds absolutely lovely. Its all in a days work milord. Anything we can do to help.

Dresil will wander around the keep, playing music until dinnertime.

Falwell gets down from his horse and ties it up near the stable, pats its side thanking it for a job well done in the last battle, and takes off toward the noble and his father.

Well, I'm glad we could be of service to the local nobles, and a dinner would be good, but I believe that our talents are also needed by the King, so we cannot stay long.

OK guys, we've had a three day or so break... I'm ready to move ahead with this!

"Oh, i'll not keep you for long! a night at most i reckon!" the big noble laughs.
So you stay for dinner and a nights rest! your wounds are tended by the castles cleric and you are celebrated as today's heroes. so i reckon you all go to sleep (or trance, for the elf) in your designated rooms?

You are fast asleep in your beds (or meditating) when you are brutally awakened by a bell.

Dresil gets out of bed, dons his armor and sword, and sees what the hubbub is by going outside of his room.

Davhid wakes up, puts on his leather jacket, grabs his bow and quiver, and straps his sword-belt on, and runs out of his quarters to see what's going on.

Falwell awakes with a start, and tried to don his armor as quickly as possible, grabbing the short sword and his greatsword and rushing out to see what idiots have the gall to attack...

Joining Arkai and his father on the wall you guys see hordes of orcs, spears glimmer in the grey morning and the orchis horns cry out from all around the castle it seems.

Well, it seems we may be surrounded. Today seems like a good day to do battle with orc who wake me from sleep. Who's with me?

Falwell would of course find the biggest meanest guy and target him, otherwise, if they all appear to be low level, he would attempt to intimidate him with his Knightly powers...

(i'll draw a map yes. but now YAAAAAWN i shall sleep. and there appears to be no tauntable foes close at the moment ;) )
"'tis look grim... they are many." Arkais father says in a cold tone "But we are brave." Arkai says with defiance against the overpowering enemy.
"thats my boy... hm... Ok, i want you guys to protect the gatehouse. I think i can win this if i dont need to station a whole unit there..."

Dresil finds his way to the rest of the group, then sees the impeding army.
