Valance says "I meant which emissary gave you the orders, and were they verbal or written. If written do you still have them? And did they arrive sealed or unsealed? Did the emissary know their contents or not?"

[Cheesegear]

"...Better yet, could the emissary give proof that he came from the King?"

[Shademan]

"mon ami. thats alot of questions..." the captain sys and twirl his mustache " the emissary were just some non-describt normal servant. he brought a sealed document which he knew nothing of its contents. whatse the matter? you are here, oui? on your way to deal with se artifacte."

[Emperor Tippy]

Valance sighs and says "Can I see the document? And it matters because I'm trying to judge how many other people know about our mission, so I will know how many could have passed that information on to Gyradan, or talked about it in a tavern one night. This being so that when his forces attempt to ambush us while we are completing our mission I will have a trail to start searching when finding the leak."

Turning to Davhid Valance says "Does this army have any concept of operational security?"

"oui, i have se document. right...here!" with a elegant and quick gesture the document is in his hands. he gives to Valance "and i kan assure you. i am se only one who knew..."

[Emperor Tippy]

Valance reads the document.

Davhid sighed. "To be honest, I've never actually seen it this bad." Davhid lowers his voice. "But, that could be because all the good men are out on the front already doing their part, leaving a skeleton force behind, consisting of people who are too young and stupid to know what a real war looks like, or those -" he inclined his head towards Dresil "Stuffed Breasplates, was it? Who think they are too good for war."

"I don't know, I'm just a Scout. I only have to look after myself, and the people under my command. I do things my way out there. Here, though...Stuffed Breastplates..."

[Shademan]

the document seems real enough.

"oui? well not here at my ship. here we do not stuff our brestplates!" he says vigorously. "because we mostly dont wear brestplates....."

[Dresil]

Dresil nods to the Cap'n, and once again smiles,

Thank you Captain for your generosity. Now if you will excuse me, I think I will take a little walk.

[Emperor Tippy]

Valance shrugs "I have spent most of my time doing special operations of one sort or another. Originally for my own people, more recently free lance."

[Shademan]

"oui? why dont we talk more over some dinner?" the captain suggests.

[Emperor Tippy]

Valance smiles and says "So long as you aren't so cheap that you ask for payment for the meal. A private tried that earlier, I just don't think he knew where the supply station was."

[Shademan]

"oh noes. theres goes my extra cash." the captain laughs "come, mon amis! join me in my cabin!" he leads on to his cabin. there is a long table there with a fair ammout of good food.

Valance follows the captain in and sits facing the door with his back to a corner.

Dahvid takes the seat next to Valance. He whispers "How much of it do you think is poisoned?"

He goes over to the deck, pulling out his ocarina once again. He starts to softly play a sea shanty for the sailors.

Valance shrugs and whispers back "Oh, no more than half in all likelihood. But thats why I have this." As he speaks he holds up his right hand, on which is a ring. "It takes care of my need for sustenance. But if you want to be safe and have 50 gold I happen to have this powder, it will purify up to a cubic foot of food and drink. Guaranteed to neutralize any and all poisons, at least thats what the druid who sold it to me said."

Dahvid stared at the Elf, Valance seemed a bit rough around the edges, but, he seemed honest. Too honest. Blunt, was the word Davhid was looking for. But, that didn't make him a bad person. If anything, elves hadn't steered Davhid wrong so far, in fact, a few of them were his best friends, and more than one of them had shown him how to hunt. And no small amount of the items he carried were of elven-make.
The elves hadn't gone wrong so far.
"I do have some money, but, not only am I worried about poison, but, this is a ship, and hygiene isn't usually very good. I'm more worried about accidental poisoning."

Valance shrugs and switches to elvish "It has been known to happen. But I find this ring to have been one of my better investments."

He sticks his hand into his belt pouch and pulls out a small, pinky sized wooden vial with elven words on the side and holds it up to Davhdi. "In my experience the druid is trustworthy but I make guarantees."

" now, mon amis. let us eat and enjoy, so that these hours may fly by and we will be there soon." the captain says and raises his glass.

[Emperor Tippy]

Valance smiles at the king and says "I would love to share in this toast and what looks like a delicious meal but unfortunately my religious vows prevent me from eating any food or drinking any drink not specially prepared by the clerics. Dahvid here is under similar restrictions but sense he isn't elven his vows are less restrictive, he just has to bless his meals with a special powder."

Valance nods to Dahvid as he speaks the second sentence and then hands over the vial while saying in elven "You can pay me later."

Falwell Colms

Falwell wakes from his nap in the ships bunk, wondering what the rest of this day may bring. He wakes himself up with some cold water, and dresses more casually, leaving the chainmail and lance behind, as well as the new greatsword the king gave to him. Falwell does though, never go anywhere without his short-sword at his side. This sword had been given to him by the late King himself, and is a prized possession, showing the glory of his name, which is all a Knight has sometimes, is his glory. He walks through the halls to the mess where he knows his new found compatriots will be dining with the captain, as he had told Falwell when he first arrived, far before the others. He though back to the ride here, and wondered how anyone could have grown up and not know how to ride properly. He remembers looking back at the bard, bouncing as the horse rode, the others were better, but none could match Falwell when it came to riding, he had been born on a saddle, and he would die on a saddle one day, if he has any choice in the matter. As Falwell enters the mess hall he can see the captain and his fellows gathered at the table, and quite a nice meal presented before them, and Falwell was ready to eat something when he first came on board.

Well friends, I see you made it here safely, although a little after myself, I believe that means that one of you will be buying my drinks? Either way, Its good to see that the generosity of this captain has not been misplaced, he is trustworthy as any, and so is his crew. Now, lets eat and rest, those that are curious, we can discuss our mission for the artifact, I have been pouring over any and all maps that the King had to look at, and we are in for an adventure my friends.

Falwell grabs a glass, fills it with wine, and toasts the captain to the fine meal, downs the glass, and then sits down at an empty seat and fills his plate, and begins eating.

[Shademan]

You guys talk and chatter with the captain, eat and rest and eventually you hear someone shout "Halfling Port! We've reached our destination!" the ship harbors at the docks and the gangplank is lowered.
" Until next time! Mon amis!" the captain shout after them and take of his hat for a bow.

Valance says to Falwell "Well seeing as I was first over the wall I don't owe anyone drinks. Dahvid owes me a pound of gold though."

Once they arrive at the port Valance says to the captain "Thank you for bringing us here safely and efficiently, I'm sure the king will hear about your skill."

He then heads down to the city and waits for the horses to be unloaded.

Dahvid walked his horse from the gangplank as he chuckled to himself over Valance's comment.
"Not a problem. Plenty more where that came from." said Dahvid as the threw a pouch of gold towards Valance. "I'm sure I'll win it back - somehow."

Valance smiles and drops the pouch into his pack before saying "Maybe, maybe not."

Once the horses are unloaded Valances says "I suggest that we head off to the north and towards our target." before heading off towards the ruin.
