Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Almost before Amya can blink, the huge bugbear is upon her, his spear biting deeply in spite of her attempt to fend him off at the last moment with a Shield spell.
At the same moment, the crowd's growing cheers get louder and louder and then erupt into a deafening roar as Dirich, unable to recover his footing quickly enough as Erradran peppers him with a relentless hail of arrows, stumbles, staggers back, and finally topples heavily, dead before he hits the ground!
"DOWN! Dirich is DOWN!" howls the announcer, and an instant later, the fallen human's body vanishes and reappears beside one of the paladins, who immediately kneels beside him and touches his body, restoring him to life -- albeit weakened to the very brink of death -- and then continues to pray over his body, using her healing magic to slowly restore him.Last edited by Kiara LeSabre; 2008-08-09 at 01:25 AM.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Amya
Staggering from the force of the hit, Amya's face fills with grim determination. She summons a spray of colourful energy and sends it bursting towards Buggy.
SpoilerRats, I cant use Battle Edge because I already made an Immediate action this round
Prismatic Beams (1d20+22)[34]
I'll roll for damage when I see what hits.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Amya
SpoilerThat's all three are hits.
(2d6+12)[15] plus 5 ongoing poison (save ends)
(2d6+12)[19] plus 5 ongoing fire damage (save ends)
The target is dazed.
She also uses the Orb of imposition to modify the saving throw, you take a penalty equal to her wisdom modifier, so -4. Bundled with Spell Focus, you need to roll a 16 or higher against each of the effects to end them (each saving roll is separate for each effect).
Minor action: Blur
Move action: Dimension Door

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Completely blindsided by the power and intensity of the mage's rebuke, Buggy stumbles backward slapping away burning fire and acid while trying to find his attacker. "Get- grrrrrrrr - GET BACK OVER HERE!!!"

OOC: Yep, still dazed. The only thing I don't know is whether I would be able to switch directions once I was able to see you, since at the point you became visible I still would have had enough move left to bring myself adjacent to you.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Retching back at the force of the numbing, burning blast, and still shuddering under the burning of the acid and the fire, Buggy decides that now would be a good time to get really, really angry. Tilting his head back, he lets out a bloody cry from his long dead ancestors and charges, point first.
SpoilerOK, this may get complicated. I'm going to be using my Iron Warrior ability, which is a minor action to regain 40 plus (2d6+1)[9] hit points, and also lets me make a Saving throw against an effect, which I'll be targeting the Daze with. If I succeed on the daze, I believe that would mean I then have a Standard and Move action coming to me, but if I fail I intend to blow my Action Point on a Charge attack anyway. So, c'mon 16...

OK, I'm going to include a Charge Attack in here at the bottom just in case the Judges rule that my daze status wipes out my other actions during the turn; if this is not the case please ignore the last attack, and here are my actions:

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
As Amya steps away from the beaten Bugbear, he makes one wild and desperate lunge with his spear in the hopes that it may slow her down and bring an end to this fight.
SpoilerI marked you, so I get to make an Opp Attack when you shift away. It won't invalidate any of your other actions unless I score a crit or something (*crossing fingers*), so I'll post my next actions next.
Attack (d20+30)[35]
Damage (d12+22)[23]
Reacting swiftly as the enchanted sword appears before him, Buggy throws up his own weapon to deflect the blow, then shifts into striking position to finish off his wounded quarry...

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
That's my interpretation as well. The effect the daze would have had doesn't apply if the daze is already no longer there when it's time for it to have its effect.
Edit: And ... at this point, I'm just going to let you two run with it. PM me with secret actions as needed so I can be a witness to them, and I'll make any special rulings you need, and otherwise ... just go for it. You're going to anyway.Last edited by Kiara LeSabre; 2008-08-09 at 01:47 PM.

OK, Amya, I think the only way you can counter that is with Displacement, so here's my attack roll again for Reaving Strike:

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
SpoilerOoh, question: The way I read that ability, you would regain HP not from 0, but from where you end up after the attack that drops you.
"Trigger: You are reduced to 0 hit points or fewer
Effect: You regain hit points equal to your level + your Intelligence
modifier."
Since I did... 82 Damage and you were at 37HP, that would take you to... -45HP, plus 27 to end up at -18HP. Am I incorrect on this?
*shrug* Please don't take this as anything but an honest question; I'm thoroughly enjoying being smacked around by your character, and you're going to still be up no matter what the case with this power is. I'm still learning the system, so I'm askin'.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Regain Hit Points:
When you are dying and receive healing, you go to 0 hit points and then regain hit points from the healing effect. If the healing effect requires you to spend a healing surge but you have none left, you are restored to 1 hit point.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Buggy reels under the devastating display of pure elemental power and nearly falls, catching himself at the last moment before hitting the ground. He staggers up and readies a charge, but at the last instant, the combined pain of the blow and the lingering damage from the previous displays finally catches up to him.
Eyes dim and roll back. Legs buckle. And seven feet of steel and muscle collapse under a still-swingin' etherial sword.
[Good match!!!]

Amya
Out of breath and out of spells, Amya collapses, the sting of the blades finally catching up with her. A paladin and a cleric enter the arena and revive Buggy and heal Amya. Standing up, she shakes the bugbears hand.
"We should do this again sometime."
