Garnig

Walking hesitantly forward, at first, the gnomes curiosity outweighs his shyness at taking the lead. Lantern held high, Garnig and Logan move onward, pushing the gloom back to the further reaches of the corridor.

Lan

Lan follows along with occasional looks back to see if the large feline creature had changed her mind and followed them to ambush.

Badger

Badger brings up the rearguard, twirling his axe as he occasionally looks behind him. "Look alive, boyos! Be prepared!" he calls forward.

Revan merely walks in the middle of the group, with a smug expression on his face and a quiet whistle from his lips. He keeps an eye out for anything that glitters.

Several yards farther along, when the sphinx has disappeared from sight, you find two paths ahead. To your left, a series of steps lead up out of the water to a heavy oaken door; to the right, a short side passage leads to the same, steps and a door.

Badger

"Left first!" Badger says with a nod in that direction.

Lan

"Sounds good," Lan says, his voice squeking a bit as he responds.

Garnig

Smiling cheerily back at the others, the gnome and his animal friend hang a left, hoping up the steps and immediately trying the door.

The door moves grudgingly, swelled thick with the moisture, but turns cleanly on the hinge once clear of the jamb. A warmly-lit room lies beyond. Five large, corpselike figures stand lined up against the far wall. Each has a different number carved into the flesh of its chest. At the sound of the door opening, the left-most of the figures turns its head and speaks. “One of us does not belong with the others,” it says. “If you can pick out the interloper, we will allow you passage. If you pick the wrong one, we will kill you. You have 1 minute, and one guess.” From left to right, the figures have the numbers 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13 inscribed on their chests.

Garnig

Thrilled at another chance at a puzzle, the gnome starts to blurt out the answer, but catches himself, almost choking in the process. Turning round to his companions he holds up nine fingers, face contorting in an odd quizzical expression.

Lan

After the work with his father, Lan never really felt too uncomfortable around the undead. He thought for a while and couldn't think of anything to disagree with his gnome friend, so he nods his agreement.
