I'm not certain that there was anything left to reattach.
Most often the holes were scraped or drilled in. There wouldn't be a "chunk" left to plop back on. It would have simply needed time to regrow, as you eluded to.

Shadow, are you refering to modern trepanning or when it was done in the past? I think soil was used to fill in the holes in the past, but I was wondering if the skull parts which are removed nowadays could be re-used.

Okay (sorry abot getting confused). According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trepanning#Modern_medicine , the skull fragment is replaced ASAP, but it doesn't explain how it's done. Now part of my head feels like it's throbbing (I hate psychosometia).

I would assume that there would be some sort of 'edge' or removable covering attached to the skull fragment to keep it from falling back into the skull again. After that, time would reattach the piece again with new bone growth.
But beyond that... again, no clue.

Okay, I did not need to resort to trepanning. Instead I took the following combinations of drugs, which are available legally without a prescription in the UK:

2 co-codomal (acetominophen + codeine)
2 aspirin
2 caffeine pills

I then slept for about four hours, and when I woke up, I was no longer in pain and was feeling rather manic. If anyone else wants to try this, read the labels on the acetominophen, because that's the one that can cause liver damage if you overdose on.

Also, USians will not be able to get codeine over the counter, which sucks.

Anyway, I can tell it's still there, lurking, but I'll take any amount of pain relief I can get! Woohoo! I'm a happy turtle and I heart modern medicine!

To my ear, sir, and I could be mistaken, but one of the primary modes of the distortion in that version was to shade every note with a tritone, particularly the bass.

Yeah, you're probably right, but the fact of the distortion makes it hard to tell. Diminished 5ths should be crisp and clear. If I've heard one I want to know about it.

all you need is a pencil and some paper. I know what you mean about paints. I was looking for some a while back and those things are really expensive. damn near $5 for some tiny little tube that won't last more than a month.

I don't think you can busk by randomly screaming things at people... More likely to get you arrested... And since I can't play any instrument worth a damn I guess I'm outta luck there.

The problem with taking up something that requires tutoring is that I don't have a tutor, see. Teaching yourself things is harder than it looks when it comes to things non-mathematical.

Also, I have not the monies or resources to take up things that require them in abundance. While I can mooch quite a lot off of my parents I don't think they'd give me random art-based stuff for no reason.

More also, I can't draw. While I realise this isn't necessarily a disadvantage, I'm not so sure that I'd ever be able to draw.

feh. I can't draw either. Didn't stop my from trying, and I managed to make a half-decent badly proportioned show out of it. I suck at drawing people. What I don't suck at drawing is mechanical things. I'm not sure why, but all the smooth lines and rivets and fiddly little details are a lot easier for me to get right than anatomy.

Walk to Sherwood Forest? You are having a laugh. I would use google maps to show you how far away my house is from Sherwood Forest, but it'd be a hassle. Suffice to say that it is quite a ways away. It's in NotthinghamSHIRE whereas I live in the suburbs of Nottingham.

And I don't really like interacting with people I don't know... Makes it kinda' hard to start a thing like a job or tutoring. Though I'm fully aware that that's my own fault.

I could draw you some mathematical diagrams with clinical exactitude, but when it comes to drawing things as they are I tend to do things exactly in the wrong way.
