You know what I hate? Trying to read articles or stories online, while using my laptop, and then falling asleep. I could use the sleep-time, but I'd rather have it at night.

I personally hate reading anything terribly long (more than a page or so) on the computer screen.

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
I just don't like long and boring articles. I've read a few books online, mostly because they were old enough to have entered public domain and I couldn't be arsed to find a print copy.
Come to think of it, I have yet to finish 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'...I used to do LP's. Currently archived here:

I really prefer paper if it's long. It's much easier to get back to where you were, and you never have to turn it off.

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
This is so awesome I can barely think of how to start explaining it...
Does anyone remember the Fine Arts Iron Avatarist contest? Well, My Art History told us that the month's project consists of taking a painting he'll assign and remaking it in any style we want, depicting it as more representative of today's society than that of it's time.
My mind immediately leaped to the Iron Avatarist contest and the entry I made for it. So after class I told him "Say, Professor, so we had this contest.." etc... "So would it be fine if my Project looked like this?" I showed him the entry I made. He took a look at it, and said, "Yeah, sure, that's fine! As long as you feel comfortable with it!"
Apparently, I'm gonna use Inkscape to draw an OOTS-style scene.... for a grade!

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
I did something like that at the end of this past year.
I'd rather not publicize it, as it was kinda personal, but it was a school project. On Inkscape. In OotS style.

No, Haruki! What if your computer suddenly changed to a different OS! You might only have to click once! Or maybe double-click, drag to "Options," type "Inkscaperun.exe.rte," then doule click on the little error message that says "File name not found" in order to type in: "Search: Backup.nxe"! My brain's exploding just thinking abou-BOOM!

What do you have to do for that, xNadia? I don't know anything about the NZ education system. Thanks for clarifying, Flickerdart (I wasn;t sure about how much time you'd lose during the flight).

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
@ Tempest: It's like the English GCSEs, I believe, with an extra 'I' for international.
Basically, you do an exam at the end of the year for each subject that's *holds out arms and grins* THIS big, get a percentage mark and a grade from A* ->about E.formerly known as xNadia

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
Thanks. The lowest pass grade over here is G (A-Levels are marked as A,B,C,D, or E, but an A* grade is apparently going to be introduced as well for some reason). I take it that coursework isn;t used for IGCSEs, right?

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
Maybe. I dunno. I wonder if I have the commitment to post blog entries regularly.
Now, fun story time. Fun story time about why I'm only responding to that quote now, the morning after.
*Get out of cinema*
Chick who's dating InksGuy: "Hold up. I need to go borrow Some Guy's phone."
Everybody: "Okay."
*So we trundle down to the pub. When she's got the phone, she calls a guy and now we get this conversation:*
Chick: "Hey Jibs," (not what she calls me, but she should), "wanna go rock climbing?"
Me: "Huh?"
Chick: "We've got a rock climbing wall for free. Wanna come?"
Me: "Uh, yeah, hold up."
*Calls home, tells them he went be home for longer than expected.*
*Goes rock climbing*
Ends up that this is all of Network, and everybody thinks I'm a random guy Chick pulled out of the pub. Spend about an hour and a half climbing, then go to the pub nearby. Half an hour there, and then Chick, I, and the guy who gave us the lift originally takes us back to my hometown, to go to the pub where we started from and I head home.
Very, very weird night.
Review of Hellboy 2 coming later either in this thread, or maybe in Media Discussions.

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
Most of the GCSEs I took had coursework as well as exams (that was over 5 years ago, so things could have changed, though).
