Thes Hunter, how could eating disgusting things get you extra credit? I can't see how that would be relevant. Kangaroo and ostritch are the only unusual things I've tried (I liked kangaroo, but ostrich would be better if it had some fat in it; that's my favourite part of meat).

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
SPAM?!?! This is a sophisticated discussion about the merits of tongue, brains, scaled monsters, and primitive sealife! How dare you bring something as nasty as.... SPAM into... um....
Seriously though, isn't beef tongue just the greatest? It's the beefiest part of the cow, and therefore the beefiest meat in the world, beef coming mainly from cows. It has the texture of liver, which some find off-putting, but I actually find liver rather pleasant; it tastes very good, and the texture, though strange, is not unlikeable, but rather simply alien in nature; it's very unique, and can weird someone out if they've never had it before. But tongue? Accept no substitute!
Conch is actually the one thing from the list I've not had. My father has had it though on a visit to the Keys, and reports that it is excellent. I trust his judgment, him being something of an expert on great food; an excellent griller if ever there was one, we mark Memorial Day as brightly as Independence Day at our house, and not just because of the veteran thing.
I've never had tripe or brain, but I would be at least willing to try brain, and perhaps even tripe if I thought it looked and smelled presentable enough. As I said, I'm something of a gourmand, and I'd hate to think I was missing out on something delightful.
As far as live squid goes, I don't have any idea. But the dead ones are yummeh-yummeh.
You know, all this might not lead you to believe that I am, in fact, rail-thin.
Oh yeah: I also heard ox heart was incredible. Can any of you confirm or deny this?Glorious Chaiman Kaga avatar by the impeccable Kalirush!

What did your dreams involve, Jiba? Also, why are you moving your computer?

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
Hmmm. I wonder, then, how ox tongue stacks up to beef tongue. It seems like they'd be very similar, but apparently not. Then again, what exactly put you off about? The flavor? The texture? How was it prepared? What wine did you select with it? What time did you eat it? Was it in season? Was it raining in Shropshire? THE PUBLIC HAS A RIGHT TO KNOW!!!
On the other end of the animal, however, ox tail is ideal for making stock, as is beef shank. In fact, most of the muscles or bonier parts you might otherwise simply throw out make superb stock. It's all about the collagen, baby.
I had the damnedest dream recently, but I can't remember a thing about it, only that it was noteworthy. Huh.Glorious Chaiman Kaga avatar by the impeccable Kalirush!

The only part of Ox I've ever tried is the tail, in a soup. I didn't like it; it's really fatty.

It's funny... the way I had intended to manipulate my class schedule was supposed to get me Fridays off, but instead I find I have Mondays, Wednesdays, AND Fridays off.
However, I suspect that Tuesdays and Thursdays are gonna be hell for me...It is inevitable, of course, that persons of epicurean refinement will in the course of eternity engage in dealings with those of... unsavory character. Record well any transactions made, and repay all favors promptly.. (Thanks to Gnomish Wanderer for the Toreador avatar! )

Because I don't wear one of those hats already...
I'm not a practising rasta or anything, my friends just have the hats and say I look good in them...
I like it. 'Kay?
And now I have the computer in my room. Which means InksGuy and I are going to have a nice looksee into steampunking it.
We also found a place in Norwich that sells cheap goggles which we should easily be able to mod up.
Heh. For all my plans, InksGuy has taken to calling me Captain Steampunk. I like it.

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
I loves me my shadowrun.
Have a fond memory of playing a Human Hacker called "pretty-boy" because I used tailored pheromones to get a 7 CHA (this was 2nd edition.) We were stuck in the Renraku Arcology and were trying to take on Deus.
I tell you, those Otaku can really pack a cyber-punch!
