The bartender that was ignoring his outstretched arm was starting to tick off Menchi, but the watchman was interesting him.
"Ozy sounds like a fine fellow. Where is his shop?"

It's not a shop, but he's generally open to visitors. He's out by Market Street.

Salmaan pricks her ears and seethes a bit at the mention of the Crows. "Wait," she says, "there's a ship called the crows around here?"

Hrm looks like I'll have to find this Ozy.

Waiting for her order, the barbarian starts paying attention again at the mention of pirates and trouble makers, and keenly at that. Perhaps sensing a way to put her foot in the door as a pirate-exterminator for the local lawmen... or finding out the best ship to sail away on and be done with this port. Petra is not picky.

"So if they're pirates, why don't you just get rid of 'em? Surely there's a reward if your noblemen on the island give a damn about stability..."

He uhh... I don't know what he does. I never thought about that. He trains alot with that curved sword of his, and sits all still and quiet. And yeah, the Crow's Eyes tied up just a while ago. As for getting rid of them, well they say Crow's got more ships, like the Beak, the Talons, the Wings, the Back, that's the flagship. And... he drops to a whisper they say that he's got some bigwig noble princess from way up in the northeast, blonde and beatiful and promised to thier greatest warrior, who would be most displeased to see her killed. And Crow has made it clear he will kill her if anyone sinks a boat of his. He's got all the hobnobs protecting him in ports, as long as he doesn't raid government ships.

Sailor senses say... That's 100% correct, according to the rumors. The Crows have been rising fast, starting about three years ago, from three sloops with about one crew between them and a ambitious captain to a fully maned fleet with a secret base. No one knows what triggered the rise. As of one year ago they indeed were able to roam with impunity throught the seas of the major powers, due to a rumored hostage thing. The powers still allow freelance action and certainly would defend themselves if attacked.

There is indeed land to the northeast populated by people.

Petra rolls her eyes. "Takin Jade must be dragging her cow arse these days," is her barely audible comment.

"Wait. Did ya just imply you have an employer lookin' fer mercenaries? Kord's jawbone, why didn't ya just SAY so??" taking a grip on her axe, the petite warrior has a gleam of razor sharpness in her eyes. "Just what I've been wantin' t' hear. Rescuin' some painted up pretty princess or a dandy price--I don't care, but people gladly pay for an answer to th' call of that type of job!"

Amd the young man is horribly flustered. WEll, umm... I don't know. Ozy just wanted me to go look at the ship. I don't know why.

Edward Farrington

Edward has been listening for a while now, keeping his eyes fixed on the bar. Every so often, the bartender passes by and starts to ask it he'd like a drink. Edward simply slides a copper across the bar and shakes his head. After a few repetitions of this, Edward and the bartender get it down to an art.

Although he's not in the habit of paying men for nothing, Edward seems content to sit back and let the conversation unfold. While he's learned a few things of note, none of them have really changed the situation of the port's commerce. Hostage situations are only bad for business when one of the two sides stops cooperating. From the sounds of things, that isn't likely to happen until the crows have cleared out of the area.

"Wait," Salmaan interjects, "This Ozy, he knows about the Crows? Why didn't you say that you fool! Take me to him."

Well I don't know if he knows! I just said he might. Why's it such a big deal anyway. Sooo... you want to go to Ozy's? Ok. Um... sir? Mr. Farrington? You want to follwo, because, you know, she kicked you, and I'm supposed to stay in touch with both parties until I can file a report.

"Mr. Farrington? You want to follow, because, you know, she kicked you..."

Edward waves it off. "I'm hardly going to press charges. What's a forceful kick or two between complete strangers? And, yeah, I'll tag along. Might as well get an idea of what's going on before the gossip hits the streets and distorts everything."

"I have........unfinished business with them," Salmaan replies in a subdued voice. "Now take me to this man you foolish giant," she suddenly returns to her headstrong self.

Okay, okay, I'll take you to him. He straightens up and starts down the road. He sinds his way out of the busy docks district and straight to the busy market district. He pushes his way to a side street and leads you up to a house. Hey, Ozy! Yo, Ozy?!

Salmaan follows the man out the door, keeping a careful eye out for Crow sailors or anything amiss.
