    Hey I get you.

Yesterday I did some 1v1s with some guys from x6. I won a couple, but lost most. Was great practice though.

So good luck to you, I hope you have a blast. Come scrim my crew for practice. :)

Personally, I hate the current metagame with the new terrain. With pulling, its very hard to control lanes well, so teams run 2-3 hard carries and its just a farm game. Ganking just disrupts farm slightly. I always played DotA aggressively and with lineups focused on map control, so I'm a bit of a fish out of water at times.

    Thanks guys

And yea, I agree about the new metagame that is much more revolved around farming. The problem, imo, is that the reward versus risk involved in ganking is not worth it anymore.

For 1-2 heroes to leave their lane to gank is that much lost experience (yea, paid back after a kill prolly), and that much time lost farming (you will not ever get more money by ganking that you could by staying to farm). An hero kill is worth what, 4-5 creeps? With good last hitting skills, it's quite easy to achieve in the time it takes to gank, and with far, far less risk. Ganks can go bad (ie you or a teamate dying), fail (no kills and only a small delay in the ganked's farming) or succeed (which result in a minor setback for the ganked hero in gold and xp lost, but a small bonus gold for the killer, and some xp shared among the gankers).

So yea, to resume what I said, the low-reward-to-risk-ratio in ganking encourages farming and a farming game.

As for 1v1s, I've never done really any, because I always thought that the huge part of the game that is left out doesnt make the practice you get in laning skills worth the time really. So, I will ask, is 1v1 to practice laning skills worth the time? I don't think my laning skills are in my worse points, but I guess if it's worth it I should give it a try.

Friend of mine got me into Dota. I hadn't even played WCIII before he showed it to me, and I love the game quite a bit.

I've only played i 5v5 on battlenet so far (tag = DigitalSocrates), and I probably won't be on often since i'm so busy doing other stuff. Usually i just play lan with a few other guys. sometimes 1v1, sometimes 2v2.

It's entertaining just find out out the strategies for all the different heroes abilities work.

Perhaps scheduling a different time as Thursdays seem to not work out for people.

edit: gaming was ok. 1 game as dazzle.. only died twice... and the first time i died was after 20 minutes into the game. supported throughout game and got a ton of assists...so not bad...
the other game sucked ... 1st time PL and 2 teamates left. Did ok till Jugg was uber fed (mostly by me )

Okay I plan to join you guys sometime.
But first I have a few questions.

    1. When does the group meet?
    2. On which server?

I also have a suggestion put all of the information in the first post of the thread.

I am legoshrimp on USEast and USWest.

    1. We have been meeting Thursdays at 6pm eastern, but attendance has been low and this past week it just didn't happen. We seem to be discussing possible other times at the moment, with Wednesday being the primary suggestion.
    2. US East (Azeroth). We've been meeting in channel hunt before starting.

    Okay thanks.
Changing the day would be good. considering that I would not be able to attend on Thursdays till around 9pm EST.

Also would playing some -arem games to learn the heros more be good or bad?

    Thanks in advance.

    Don't play em.

AR is good for gaining some passing knowledge of what every hero can do and how to make it work.

Yea, -ar games can be good for that. I remember a year ago when a friend of mine and me wanted to learn the heroes and planned to play one game with each against AIs, in tavern order. We stopped after 3 taverns Ibelieve there still a fewheroes I've never played a game with yet lol. (Bloodseeker, Weaver and Bane Elemental comes to mind) Yea ><

Talking of which, I had my first game as Invoker today because of that. I don't play ar much, and never really picked him in other games cause I didnt want to play a hero I didnt know really and had no real incensitive to learn. Sure, I did know his spells and how he works, but heh, playing him was another experience Invoker players must hate his hotkeys.

6pm eastern, 5 central, 4 mountain, 3 pacific. GMT I'd have to look up to be certain. In any case, about an hour from the time of this post.

Granted I wasn't there, but it's all part of the learning process. My suggestion, as always, is to check out some of the guides out there. They can cover a lot of the basic information you'll need. From there, it's just practice, so dying a lot is going to happen.
