Nicholas

A look of quiet concern comes over Nicolas' face as the amulet sinks into Silur's skin. Restraining himself from rushing over to aide and restraining his mind from thoughts of immediate (and painful) surgery, the Cleric observes what happens. Confident that no harm had been done, and then curious, he puts the amulet across his neck, the protective gem contacting the glinting silver of his holy symbol.

Once again he speaks, in his characteristic calm, "I am trained in the ways of healing. If some harm has been done through the absorption of the gem, I may be able to cure it."

Looking over the others, he adds, "Time may, in fact, be an issue. Perhaps we should prepare now to delve into the mine now."

The warmage quickly places the amulet over his head.

"My comrade speaks the truth, there is no time to waste when evil threatens. Come, we shall away to the stables to make our way with all haste to the mines. If you have any torches or lanterns, we would be obliged, but if not, we can grab some on the way. Rope and a stout hammer and pitons may also aid us in this quest. You can rely on us my lord, we shall not fail you or the city."

Kethir

Watching the discussion between the Count and Silur withi his head tilted to the side, Kethir focuses his attention on the amulet and tattoo as well. "Interresting! I wonderr if it shall do that forr all of us?" he wonders aloud as he lifts his own amulet and places it around his neck.

Detect Magic. Mostly, it's a reflex for him to do so when he encounters magical items and effects. He's a very curious bird-man.

The amulet sinks into your feathers, just as it had for Silur, only, the imprint doesn't extend further than the back of your feathers.

Nicholas extends his hand to the Count to seal the pact between him and the nation. "I cannot speak for the others, but I will make my way in the morrow. Roads can still be too dangerous to travel at night and we must have strength for our blades."

After the handshake, if the Count obliges, he turns to the others with a proposition.

"As for the rest of the night, let us meet at a tavern in town. Tonight is the last night we'll be without the threat of death."

"While I can see well enough in the darrk, and move as quickly as a heavy horrse, I can see the need to delay. Firrst light. No laterr?" he asks, tilting his head once more as he extends his hand.

The count shakes your hands and says. A wise decision. I wish you safty and fortune on your travels, friends. Do not let your city down!

Nicholas

"We shall not let you or the city down," are Nicholas' final words to the count as he leaves the room and eventually the castle. He waits around for the others to discuss where they shall get some alcohol.

The elf bids goodbye to the Count, then convenes with the group.

"Come friends, I know an excellent abode that can provide us with fine wines as we prepare for adventure."

I was born with an innate control of magical forces... nothing particularly specific, but it is powerful, and I get by.

actually, i believe that this magic interacting with the enchantments of the amulet are likely what caused it to behave so strangely.

turning to kethir, the only other whose amulet seemed to bond.

perhaps we share this gift??

The flame haired elf pours himself another glass of wine and then holds it up to the light to examine the swirling colour.

"I have some skill in arms, as well as the arcane arts."

He holds the glass under his nose and inhales deeply.

Kethir tilts his head to the side. "Interresting! My own powerrs arre grranted by Naturre itself, inborrn as well." He takes a moment to drink about half of the ale in his mug; a very strange sight indeed.

"I can incrrease my speed and move unhinderred and untrraceably. Further, I am able to outline enemies and even to slow unnaturral enemies with the same ability. Finally, I can dirrect blasts of naturral enerrgies at tarrgets."

Ordering an entire bottle of strong liquor and several glasses, Nicholas sits with the others and distributes each of them a shot glass. When his turn comes, he informs the others, "Well I used to be a temple priest until I was called to get more hands on. I've spent some time wandering about with other like minded folk."

He pours a shot into his own glass before continuing.

"Mostly Paladins, Monks, and the like. Colorful people really, especially for the frontier. The name of the game for me is healing."

Putting down the bottle, he grabs his shot glass. "Name of this one's List of Paradise. Created by a particularly colorful Dionysian cleric. You say the name of something you've drank and pass the bottle. If you can still talk when it's empty, you're a winner. Southten Scotch."

Nicholas drinks the contents of his glass and places it upside down on the table, passing the bottle to his right."

I guess i lose then...

he says jokingly, as he turns his glass upside down.

I was raised by monks... I'm sure you understand.

and he passes the bottle along to the right

The four of you sit around the table playing your drinking game, and notice the voices at the table next to you rise. One man, clearly drunk, takes a swing at the other, but only succeeds in nocking a glass to the floor and shattering it. The bar becomes quiet as the second man jumps out of his chair, pulls out a crossbow, and aims it at the first man's head.
"keep your Goddamn hands off of me!"

Takint the bottle from Silur, the kenku tilts his head towards the nearby table. "Good sirrs! I am surre therre is no need forr hostilities orr bloodshed! Perrhaps you could simply change companions?"

"Shut it, bird-thing!"
The drunk man, unaware of the danger, rests his head on his hand and begins laughing slightly.

"That's it, I'm out! Find someone else to help you, because you certainly can't help yourself!"

The man hurries outside, slaming the door behind him. Some of the people in the bar look nervious, but buisiness continues as usual.

Kethir squarely faces the drunk man. "As you wish. What is it you wish closed? Yourr friend has done so with the doorr as he deparrted." There's a slight upturn to the kenku's speech; almost mocking.

come now, lets let them argue amongst themslves. it would serve no cause to involve ourselves in their idiocy

very calmly, keeping his voice very flat, smirking only slightly near the end.

He signals to the barmaid to bring over another bottle of wine.

The man simply lays there, looks at Briomatis for a moment, then falls asleep.

well, this has been an interesting night... I am going to sleep.

and he leaves a silver piece on the table for the waitress even though he didn't order anything

he then goes in the direction of the rooms

"Wise words Silur, for we have an early start ahead of us."

The elf stands and nods to his companions.

"Sleep well friends, for tommorrow may be our last."

Britomartis then heads to his room.
