Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
Parmenides
Parmenides feels the adrenalin rushing through his veins, causing him to shake a little. "Thank you, Seeker. I could almost see Ioun showing me the index system in the Big Library, when you suddenly blocked the view. I appreciate you taking that bullet for me. And the maneuver, I might add, was truly beautiful to behold."
Turning his head back he calls: "Talis, Dumar, we could really use your help here. Seeker is now hurt too, so if one of you can make it..."

The last of the soldiers inside drops before the might of Dumar's hammer.
Current status:SpoilerAll soldiers are dead.
Archer is bloodied.
Trooper is bloodied, cursed by Erion, and cannot see Erion.
Swordsman is marked by Seeker.
Talis's turn, then Seeker's and Parmenides's.

SpoilerJust getting a DM post in before heading to bed. I don't think that Talis can drop anyone on his turn, so everyone should be able to take their turns without being affected by a lack of DMing between now and tomorrow morning. If not, I might ask you to back up a bit, but I don't think it will be a problem.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
Seeker
"Fancy seeing you here, my friend," Seeker calls to Talis. Praying to Ioun, he moves into the middle of the huddle of enemies and strikes at the elf trooper with divine might.
SpoilerLet's hope I can take this fellow out on this turn and then we can focus on the rest of the enemies – and even if I don't, hopefully I can at least hold out longer than they can being all surrounded and whatnot. And since the Swordsman should still be marked, hopefully he won't do anything stupid like go after an ally.
Minor Action: Invoke my Infernal Wrath (+1 atk, +3 dmg)
Move Action: Move one square south
Standard Action: Attack the Trooper with Invigorating Smite (+1 atk from Bloodhunt racial ability, +2 for flanking/CA)
Free Action: Use an item daily power (from my Dwarven Armor) to heal myself as if I'd spent a healing surge.
Attack: (1d20+11)[19] vs. AC
Damage: [2d8+6] damage
Effect: I heal 7 HP, and all bloodied allies within 5 squares of me heal 7 HP.

Seeker
SpoilerOops, mis-rolled the damage. I don't know if my attack roll was high enough to hit (even with a +11 bonus ), but here's the damage roll just in case.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerUnfortunately, a 19 is not high enough to hit the trooper. If it's any consolation, you would have killed him if you had hit ...Know what? I'm just going to request that Parmenides attack the trooper, as he should be able to kill it (8 hp left), and then it will go straight into Erion's turn.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
Erion
Seeing his curse victim die before he can make much use of it, the warlock mutters a curse at the swordsman and channels the fleeting life of the trooper into a simple but classic blast of energy, also aimed for the sword wielder.
SpoilerMoving two squares right were I can get a clear shot to the Swordself.
Then, I am cursing it and using eldritch blast.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerYes, I had meant Talis instead of Dumar... Was a bit distracted at the time (starting a major homebrew project ).
Since TwoBitWriter hasn't posted, I'm just going to NPC Talis to get the game rolling again.
Dumar rushes out of the castle to confront the elves as Talis moves in and slashes across both of the enemies' chests.
SpoilerTalis moves and uses Cleave on the archer.
Attack vs. AC - (1d20+10)[23]

I'll just fire another magic missile at the swordsman.
Magic Missile: Sw (d20+7)[26] vs. Reflex.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
Umm... OK, that's weird. In my previous post, does anyone else see a "*post roll count does not match database?" Because if so, my entire last post was lost
The gist of it was this:
SpoilerErion not posted, NPCing. Please post if you're still paying attention.
Parmenides hit, Seeker missed. Erion is cursing and Eldritch Blasting the swordsman, swordsman is swording Seeker.
SpoilerErion attack - (1d20+6)[18]
Erion damage - (1d10+5)[11]+(1d6)[1]
Swordsman attack - (1d20+11)[26]
Swordsman damage - (1d8+5)[7]
Swordsman bloodied now.
Dumar, Talis, Seeker, Parmenides, Erion turns now.Last edited by NecroRebel; 2008-10-06 at 01:01 AM.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
Seeker
Missing with his attack, Seeker is hit by the swordself's own swing. "You'll pay for that, elf," Seeker snarls at his opponent, his eyes narrowing as Parmenides's magical projectiles draw blood.
SpoilerI am indeed getting the post roll count thing, unfortunately, but I guess you summed it up well enough. Also, I think we've usually had slowdowns over the weekend (in fact, ALL of my PbPs slow down on the weekends), so that could be why Ipphli hasn't posted.
And while I'm here, I'll just lay out what my plans are, in case you want to speed things up if I'm not around tomorrow when you want to get moving. If Dumar and Talis think they can take out the Swordsman, that's fine, but if not I'll either take some healing from Dumar and then attack (probably with Valiant Strike for a +1 atk and +1 for Bloodhunt) on my turn or just use my Second Wind to get a few HP back (since 14 HP isn't really all that much for a melee tank-type).
Current Status:
Spoiler14/40 HP
0 Temporary HP
9/11 Surges

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerI'm still about and ready, but I don't know about the rest of the group. We haven't heard from TwoBit, Ipphli, or Parmenides in a week or more.
Also, so you don't "lose" the thread, I'd suggest using the Subscription option. Just click thread tools at the top post of any page and follow the instructions, and then when you want to check the thread out you just have to go to Quick Links (up by Log Out) -> Subscribed Threads. I've got all my PbP games and some homebrew and stuff like that as subscriptions so I can see when and if they've been posted to lately. The Playgrounder Formerly Known as rtg0922

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerTwoBitWriter pmed me on Monday; he's currently getting married (Saturday 11th) and will be on honeymoon for the next week.
Of course, the whole "newlyweds" thing leads me to believe that he'll be much less available in the future, but that remains to be seen.
If you guys want to continue this game, I'll probably put it on brief hiatus to recruit replacements for Parmenides and Ipphli unless they post again. If not... Well, I'd like to continue, but without players it's a bit difficult, and I'd feel wrong replacing everyone unless I just restarted everything.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerAh, yeah, I remember now that TwoBit said he was getting married. (Also, I've spent a lot of time at weddings in the past three weeks, so I can understand how much time that must actually take up if you're the one actually getting married.)
I'm happy to keep playing as long as you continue, but I'd maybe give the others a PM or at least a day or so before grabbing replacements, just in case. The Playgrounder Formerly Known as rtg0922

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerAh, all right then. If everyone is still around, we can continue as before. Let's just finish this battle quickly... At this point, since you're all out of encounters, probably have no reason to use dailies, and are all going in one big group, you can probably just say what you're doing out of order and I'll just work things out when everyone is finished.
Or, if you'd prefer, I can just declare that the last elf suddenly suffers a fatal heart attack and dies so we can get on with it

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerSince we all get a turn now before the swordsman, it's reasonable to assume that at least two of us will hit with our at-wills (not even counting the flanking we will have). This will finish him off. Let us continue with the story, after the battle.
Parmenides will do a quick search on the bodies, while trying to keep an eye (and ear) out.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerYep, sudden heart attack while being stabbed or smacked or magic'd at from all sides sounds fine to me. I just need some healing to get back up to NOT at 14/40 HP and I'll be good. I assume Dumar will lend me some courage with an inspiring word, and then I'll just use my second wind/normal healing surges.
Inspiring Word: (1d6+10)[11]
And since we just hit a milestone, I guess, we get an action point and item daily power back, right?
EDIT: I WOULD roll a 1 on the healing after not rolling for a while, wouldn't I? Oh, well - one inspiring word and one normal surge brings me to 35/40, with 7 surges and one "free" surge from my Dwarven armor left for the day. (Also, I've got a use of Lay on Hands left, just in case anyone needs it.)Last edited by RTGoodman; 2008-10-13 at 01:01 PM.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerI am sorry to report this guys, but I have gotten way too busy with schoolwork to keep up with the game. My posting would be down to once or twice a week, far too slow. Good luck guys, but I have to withdraw for now. It was good to game with you all.

Re: In Service to the Prophet (IC)
SpoilerI'm sorry to hear that Depending on how quickly or slowly things ingame go and how quickly your schoolwork clears up, you may be able to come back in later if you still wish to, though if it becomes too problematic I may choose to recruit a replacement for you. Regardless, I wish you well in all of your endeavors.
That said, for the rest of you I apologize for my own lack of posting these past few days, as I've had a heavy school load myself recently which will likely continue through the weekend. I had a test Monday, papers due today and Friday, and another test Monday again, so I may be unable to do anything really complicated for this game.
On the bright side, the fact that my own business happens to coincide with TwoBitWriter's absence means that he won't have to do so much catchup as he might have otherwise.
With all of the party members bringing their skill and power to bear, the last of the elves is quickly felled, leaving you alone in the mud, silence, and blood. The bodies of your fallen foes yields several rewards. First, there is the magic forge-hammer the elf trooper had used, steam rising in thin tendrils where it lies in the mud. Second, the elven swordsman's blade, inlaid with mithril and gold, is sure to fetch a tidy sum despite its lack of apparent enchantment. Finally, between them all there are many coins to be found, minted with a tree sigil and the face of an elf-king.
There are several options available to you at this stage. You may choose to enter the castle through the ruined forge that you have just cleared; the hallway within leads north towards the rest of the complex. You might also choose to try one of the other entrances that you had spotted before, on the west and east sides, or you may seek different options altogether. The choice is yours.
SpoilerRewards from combat include:
Flaming Warhammer +1 (daily power expended)
Gilded longsword worth about 200g
365 sp
150 xp each
If you'd prefer I attempt to recruit a replacement for Erion now, please tell me, or if you'd rather go in with 4 people instead of 5 that will work out as well. If we go that way, I will probably work in a test fight, probably against a solo creature, to see how well the party can handle combat and know whether I need to redo the planned battles.
