Re: End of Ages
Avit was surprised, though, recalling what his demon friends had said earlier, all the pieces started falling together, he understands what is going on though he still does not why or how, smiling sadly he says to Walker, "Well, if we are going back soon, I think we ought to find the others too, shouldn't we." Avit says as he raises his hand gesturing towards the exit.

Re: End of Ages
Yes. I was told they were in an alley, drinking somewhere, and in a street. No one wants to say more. He strides quickly towards the exit.

Re: End of Ages
He said I should find you and bring you back to that place. He gave me this. The tiefling shows Avit the holy symbol. I felt the dirt there. It felt like like my blade and armor. Powerful.

Re: End of Ages
Easier to find animals where they go to drink than out in the open. Easier to find whoever is drowning their sorrows than the ones in the streets.

Re: End of Ages
Lotho turns to the screaming child. What? I'm vulnerable again? Something strange must be happening...
Lotho dashes rapidly away, running down the streets of the city. He will seek his way up a ladder, climbing to a rooftop and scouting around, attempting to see if anything is going on. If he sees nothing, he will duck down and hide, keeping out of sight and looking out over the city frequently.Last edited by The_King_of_Durf; 2008-09-05 at 11:12 PM.

Re: End of Ages
Thonas
Thonas and Gralexx sit at the bar, laughing at the days battle, the ale having been flowing freely for some time.
The door to the bar opens and the room goes silent. Gralexx hisses something in infernal and flutters his way out the back entrance, as do the majority of the other devils. Confused, and somewhat disappointed in losing his drinking buddy, Thonas turns to see what caused the commotion.
The elf and the tiefling look familiar, the tiefling more so. His armour seems unique, and Thonas is sure he had seen it before.
"Hey," he slurrs slightly. "Do I know you?"

Re: End of Ages
Thonas
"Life?" He squints at the tiefling. "Walker?" He laughs, recognising the pair. "By Kord, what are you doing here? A second chance?" He smiles, remembering the dragon as his biggest defeat. He rises, and slams his sword against a table, splintering it to pieces. "Any time, brother."

Re: End of Ages
Avit smiles, he could not remember everything, but seeing Thonas' enthusiasm just could not help but bring him to a small smile, maybe this time.... yes, maybe this time they can succeed. Turning his head away from the bar, he gestures towards the exit, " So shall we find the other two now?" Avit asks.

Re: End of Ages
Thonas
"Other two..." A piece finally falls into place in his mind. "Ah, Cale! I think it was her I saw on the street about an hour ago, I thought she was a street performer." Stepping out of the bar, Thonas guides the pair to where he last saw the wizard.

Re: End of Ages
The addled Tiefling stares after the departing ice devil in bewilderment. The frozen handprint on her chest pulses with primal cold, drawing heat from her body at a dangerous rate, even as its creator vanishes around a bend of the cramped, twisting street.
'A dangerous rate?' asks a faint, alert fragment of her mind. A strange notion. Nothing is dangerous in the Hells; pain exists only to break the minds of the damned, but never brings the release of nonexistence. Yet as the icy marks continue to sear her flesh, Cale feels certain that her first thought was correct. This pain, despite all logic, is real. Enough of it could kill her.
The realization intrigues Cale more than it frightens her. After untold years of phantom pain, phantom hope, phantom defiance and phantom defeat that all fade without changing a thing...to feel anything real is a bit like being alive. Besides, the wound is not going to kill her. Already, the frozen tissue is slowing its expansion. It is not the worst pain she ever felt, or even the worst cold. Compared to that night trapped on the peaks above Silvergate...
Cale frowns. She remembers that icy night in agonizing detail, though most memories of her world are clouded and vague. She waits for the wave of confusion that will steal the memory, but it does not come. The memory, like the pain, is real.
For the first time, she considers the command the Ice Devil had given her. "Try it again." Curiosity triumphs over caution after a brief internal struggle, and Cale raises her left hand once more. The gestures are clumsier than before, the incantation a dull rattle in her parched throat, and the spell she manages is a pale shadow of what she could once have done...but like the wound, like the memory, the swirl of frigid wind which plays around her feels real.
Others seem to notice as well. Fellow damned souls shoot her furtive, fearful glances, while the looks she receives from demons range from cautious evaluation to open anger.
At that moment the hot winds of Avernus shift, carrying the distant sounds of shouted alarms and terrified screams...the voices of the tormentors, not of the damned. The nearby fiends forget about Cale as some of them run, fly, or undulate toward the commotion, some flee from it at top speed, and others fall to debating its meaning among themselves.
Cale herself walks slowly toward the distant clamor. The part of her mind that can think and remember still seems a small fragment, an island of clarity in a stormwracked sea of confusion. If she moves too quickly, tries to do too much at once, the island might vanish.
She turns in the direction where she last saw the departing Ice Devil and whipers a hoarse "thank you", then continues to walk.

Re: End of Ages
Avit walks out of the bar in somewhat high hopes as much as one can be in hell. Slowly, the old team is coming into place, everyone is starting to regain their memories, at this rate, by the next day everyone would probably be complete both in body and soul. Avit smiles slipping his hand into his pocket, feeling 3 sheets of paper, reminded of the talismans, Avit wonders what exactly were the demons talking about.

Re: End of Ages
Lotho, frustrated with inaction, finally spies a small of humanoids. They seem to be repelling the demons of the city. There must be some great power that they have over these beasts. It wouldn't hurt to try and tag along. He thinks that he may have seen them before, but dismisses such thoughts are irrelevant. Perhaps I can get out of here yet.
He nimbly makes his way back down into the streets, heading in the direction of this group. A couple of punier devils scurry away ahead of him, crashing into walls and stumbling over each other. He heads in the direction that they run from, trying to find the group.
They looked so familiar... it couldn't be, could it?

Thonas
The bolt strikes true, hitting it's mark on Thonas' shoulder, near where he had pulled out Gralexx's quill a few hours ago.
"You want some of this?" He beats his sword against the ground. "Come and get it!"

Re: End of Ages
Cale wends her way through the serpentine tangle of streets, hooves clicking the stones in a slow, unwavering gait. She has no exact destination in mind, but she chooses each turn without hesitation. The impossible sensations of reality, the chill of the ice devil's talons, the memories of her world, have settled into a steady pressure in her chest, as though her heart were trying to remember how to beat. And ahead of her, something tugs at this knot of sensation, drawing her toward...she does now know what. But if she keeps walking she will find it.
She crosses a plaza dominated by a bubbling, sulfurous fountain that belches random gouts of scalding water and steam, and turns down a narrow street lined with ramshackle bars, gambling dens, and fetid slum homes. The sensation is stronger now. Keen anticipation bites at Cale's brain, but she carefully schools her emotions back to calm neutrality. This is a new thing, having her thoughts hang together for more than a few fleeting seconds, and she is wary of feeling too much at once lest she tumble back into dementia.
Suddenly, from around a bend just ahead her, a cacophany of demonic cackles ring out, followed by a shout: "You want some of this? Come and get it!"
A day ago she would not have known the voice. Now, though, a thousand fragmented memories invade her brain. Forcing the memories down before they overwhelm her, Cale sprints toward the sound of the voice, a spell taking shape on her lips as she runs.

Re: End of Ages
Avit was too lost in thought to notice the blast at first, hitting Avit before he could dodge the attack. Finding everything relative to him speeding up, it has been some time since Avit has been slowed, so it took him by surprise at first, even as he got ready for battle, no matter how long it took him to do so, Avit hid a small smile, as the rush of adrenaline started to get him ready for battle. Though not a warmonger, the fact that he may be going into battle was just too nostalgic to ignore.

Re: End of Ages
Lotho steps out of a bronze alleyway just in time to witness his old friends being bombarded with crossbow bolts. He instantly recalls who they were. "I let you three bastards out of my sight for just a few hundred years and you go and get shot to pieces." The halfling smiles and laughs, the sensation surprising him. "Its good to see you all."
"Whoever fired those bolts should take care, for those who would deny death and Hell itself have reunited!" he shouts, challenging the surrounding windows gallantly, if foolishly.
His memories flood back in. Some surprise him, others fill him with a rekindled sense of purpose. He knows what he has been doing, and what he must now try to do.
"Now, where is Cale? If I recall, she always did deny my advances, but to avoid all of us? And what circumstances have brought us all together today, or is it just a product of coincidence?" Lotho has lost none of his playful verbosityLast edited by The_King_of_Durf; 2008-09-08 at 01:41 PM.

Re: End of Ages
Cale skids around the bend at a full sprint and spies four figures a short distance down the street. They do not seem to be in any immediate danger; the small one is even making jokes. But the sight of them releases a flood of returning memories, and a maelstrom of clashing emotions. Joy. Anger. Shame. Pride. Grief.
Hope?
For an instant, Cale recoils in panic, certain that the mental deluge will drown her. But her mind does not break, and she manages to ride out the storm until her thoughts are calm again. She is careful to keep them that way as she crosses the street to join the others.
She knows that the voice she had heard belongs to the tall, scarred Eladrin. She examines his face for a moment. "Thonas." The scorched air in her dry throat produces only a whisper. "Avit. Lotho." She studies the last of the four. Though horned and hooved like herself, he seems badly out of place here. The amulet at his neck stings Cale's eyes, but she senses that it is the source of the pull that drew her here. "Walker."
Her greeting is not quite adequate, Cale decides. After so many years, she ought to say more. She thinks carefully, turning over the day's anomalous events in her mind, exploring possible connections, patterns, motifs. Finally she states her conclusion: "Things are happening."Last edited by disorder; 2008-09-08 at 06:02 PM.

Re: End of Ages
"Hey Cale, good to see you back," Avit says with a smile, knowing pretty well that Cale was just too overwhelmed by this reunion, Avit pat her on the back and tries to put up a comforting smile, turning his head and looking around the city, Avit tries to pinpoint the general location of the attackers.

Re: End of Ages
"Thank you, Avit." Cale's cracked lips break into a slight smile, and then she figures out what she had probably been meant to say before: "It is good to see all of you." Talking to people again, after years trapped in her own head, will be an interesting challenge.
She looks again at Walker, squinting against the glare of his amulet. She is certain that the amulet is important, perhaps the reason for all the things that have changed today. Walker might know more, then.
"Where do we go next?"

Re: End of Ages
Being unable to find where the crossbow bolts had come from, Walker snarls and swings the halberd off out of the city. The wilderness! Where the man in white waits! Willing himself to move, he yanks the bolt from his shoulder and begins to run towards the city gates.

Re: End of Ages
"You always did have a way with words, Walker." Lotho says, chuckling as he dashes after his old companion. His renewed sense of life invigorates the halfling, who picks up the pace for the mere thrill of movement.
"Now, what do you mean by man in white?" Lotho asks.
