When I saw Chief looking at the spear after Kin's comment about leverage, I thought the next panel would be him rigging some device up, using the spear as a lever.

That's exactly what I thought, too. When I read Kin's comment about "Don't make me shoot you!" I honestly thought for a second that she was misinterpreting his actions.

Hmm... that spear can split up into several, right? Theoretically, he could throw it at the locks, have it turn into four, and be able to simultaneously unlock 'em all that way. Perhaps he could do something similar to turn the wheel.

I doubt it would be easy to smash them; while the javeline is likely to have a ridiculously high cost due to the number of improvements it has, the fact that the mayor is paranoid and/or evil enough about attacks to let GS torture I-don't-know-how many creatures to supposedly get information on how to kill them suggests he won;t have taken chances with making the locks smash-proof.

It's strange that the bolts don't glow like other magic weapons. I wonder if it's only the weapons themselves which usually glow? That would explain why the bows don't glow either if it's only the ammo which is magical. I'm not as bothered about DH. It's mainly because I hate Saves a Fox for obvious reasons. His cowardice annoys me as well, though.

I was actually assuming that she was just bluffing. It would make sense, given the situation. And it's a grunts crossbow. And it's not glowy, which signifies magic. Magic is ALWAYS glowy!

That is a possible solution to the question. It would make more sense considering how Raging Complains of Names With a +1 Sword and Rage was more then a match for a few of the "elite" guards.

But looking at the comic where the owlbear died, You can see that it has purple skin and 4 fingers (including thumb). I also notice that it has a prominent eyebrow (or brow ridge) and is probably bipedal.

I can't really tell what race it is...

He was probably just a Chekhov's Gun, to remind us that the Goblins have allies if they ever needed them, whoever he is he should be in the fight now.

Gez and Lissou are both perfectly right. (You both deserve a cookie for those explanations .) Considering how prominant that purple guy's debut was, it seems odd that he isn't in the main fight, unless he's part of one of the other groups which Thaco refered to (there is a distinct possibilty that Thunt will swerve us by having him as being completely unimportant to the plot, but I'm assuming he'll have a major inpact on the escape).

Frankly, I see no indication whatsoever that this guy will play any meaningful role or be seen ever again.
All purpose he served was to show that the "monsters" are capable of compassion and camaraderie. His person per se is absolutely unimportant here, it's the principle that counts. I wouldn't be surprised to see him reappear, as Thunt pays far more attention to consistency of this kind than most artists, but I would hardly say he had a prominent debut or that him not appearing again would be Thunt swerving us.

That's one way of looking at it. I just assumed a highly distinct monster doing something like that on their first appearance is likely to be foreshadowing.

I think that's Goblin Slayer's personal crossbow. I don't think the rank and file get enchanted crossbows on the off chance that all the monsters in the dungeon somehow manage to escape.

I like her too, but she might overshadow the rest of the GAP. She's just the teensiest bit over their CR.

True, it looks like a good crawl, but it (at the moment) doesn't seem to add to the story. It's the "A rockslide separates the party. Now you guys come over on Saturdays, and you three come over on Sundays, and we'll see what we can do to reunite you guys later." Usually done because some members of the group are having "issues" with the other members. Been there, did that.

Love this story, and I'm glad that Thunt seems to be picking up steam again. Moving takes a lot out of a guy!

My opinion as well, unless all the crossbow bolts ever since the beginning of the Brassmoon arc have been enchanted -- which, to be fair, could explain why they look so odd -- and that would be a ton of money invested in ammunitions.

On another note, I believe that Kin was bluffing. Unless Brassmoon city has some cheap, magical item creation, infrastructure; it would be obscenely expensive to equip so many soldiers with magical weapons.
