Mafia VIII Game Thread - Day 6

Amplify has already attested to having the means to identify people's roles, which either means he's a scryer in which case we shouldn't lynch him, he's acting as a face for a scryer, in which case we shouldn't lynch him, he thinks he's facing for a scryer but is being duped by a wolf, in which case we identify the wolf, or that he himself is a wolf claiming to be a scryer, which is is extremely unlikely due to PMs I had exchanged with him last (in-game) night.

In any case, it seems the point is moot because the only reason he wouldn't have made a self-defense point at EDK by now is if he's been abducted.

Amplify. Lynching EDK is quite often almost always pointless. If he's a wolf he gives himself up on the first day for some reason sometimes.

This is supposed to be some sort of hint or instructions of some sort, but I don't recognize the dialect. I know you've studied languages a bit more than I have. What do you make of it?"

Day 4 Ends

The City – 1928 – October, Late afternoon.

A hot October, and rainy making for a humid day.

In the downtown, the roads are choked with pedestrians, horse drawn carts, delivery trucks (it’s not booze, officer ) and sedans.

One sedan rear ends the truck in front of it, and two burly strongarms exit the truck in anger. One checks the rear of the truck, while the other starts to argue with the other driver.

The sedan driver doesn’t back down, and draws his pistol.

The truck driver puts his hands up, but his passenger turns around and draws his own pistol. The car passengers – two of them – get out of the sedan with Thompson SubMachine guns, and point them at the truck drivers.

The back of the truck opens, and in the back of the truck is a gangster riding shotgun with a Browning Automatic Rifle.

The truck driver tries to keep the peace, but then the sedan is rear-ended by another car…

And then all the bullets start to fly…

Catseye2121, dallas-dakota, Fleeing Coward, Istari, Malmagor Andrigal were all killed in the cross fire between the gangsters. All were Citizens.

Johnathan peers at it, his annoyance with his twin quickly forgotten as he struggles to remember his ancient... Hindu?! What on Earth is an Indian artifact doing here, he wondered.

"I open at the close... what the devil kind of nonsense is that? Sounds like new age gibberish to me!" He frowns, seemingly perplexed, while he turns the real riddle over in his head:

A door locked without a key,
A portcullis, it might be.
Yet also a gate without bars,
One whose secret lies with the stars.

Noting his brother's incredulous look, he quickly explains the real text of the riddle, his normally jovial face creased in thought. "Looks like we really might need Evie for this..."

"Indeed, Evie would be a great help right now." Jonathan sits there pondering for a minute, before looking up and grinning wildly. "I say old chap, I think I've got it. Wasn't Evie working at the museum just down the street? I thought she mentioned something about an astrology exhibit. We could go down there, take a look around, maybe visit her office and try to find some notes. So long as we tidy up afterwards, no harm will be done, right? Come on. No time like the present. Shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes walking to get there."

Jonathan gets up, taking the puzzle box once more. Talking as he walked, Jonathan starts to head out. "Say, that reminds me. Wasn't Evie supposed to be here to show off her Egyptian exhibit sometime this month? What on earth is she still doing in Africa? Granted if I was surrounded by diamonds, I probably wouldn't leave, either. I still can't believe she didn't let us in on the diamond mine. I mean, I can, but still. She'd better bring back some large, shiny souvenirs soon, if you get my meaning."

“What’s next master?”

Unusual events have been occurring around the city since the High Priest Imhotep has returned from the dead. His priests have scoured the city on various quests as minor calamities befall the city (rain of toads, cats acting weird, storms of locusts, river turned to blood).

Beni had the idea of getting a medical dictionary and using it to determine all the parts Imhotep needed to be a fully functional God King again.

“It says in here that you need something to fight infections.”

“Cough! Cough! I never should have grabbed those lungs from that smoker! That’s all it is!”

“No… I think you have a cold.”

“You think I’m cold?”

“You have a ‘cold’ – you’re sick. That’s what they call it here in the United States. We need to get you better.”

“I’m a God! cough cough cough This language is stupid! cough cough cough Fine! Fine! You win. Let’s go get something for my immune system. When I am ruling this city, this stupid language will be replaced with Egyptian, the language of the gods.”

Blue Umbrella spleen was removed (killed) by Imhotep. Blue Umbrella was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (Mason).

“We need to keep hitting at these freaky priests! The river turned to blood! I took my boat out there, and the paint job went from white to red! It was horrible!”

A cat tears through the room, running from one door – into and out of a closet, and finally out the other door and into the next room.

“You think that’s tough? The boss’s whiskey convoy ran into a thousand toads and ran off the road! We lost $380 thousand in whiskey! Crashed right into the ditch (sob) and dumped (choke) all of it.” The gangster almost starts crying, but he was with all his friends and he has to appear tough.

“All of these curses are for us. They’re aimed at us. They’re costing us money!”

“I know where one of these priests is. He’s been in the city for quite a while. Get your guns, we’re gonna get us a little revenge.”

Ganurath was shot (killed) by the Mafia and put into the hospital. Ganurath was a Citizen.

“I thought he was a priest! He was a mobster before, then one of those Joker’s Troupe gangsters. I thought it was obvious that he would have been one of these Priests too! I’m sorry I was wrong!”

Rising early for once, O'Connell turns the sign on the detective agency to "Open" and peers out the door, spotting Thes Hunter as she walks past the shop.

Ganurath's nurse was a middle-aged woman who was oddly perky, like she enjoyed her job a little too much. "Welcome back, Ganurath. I haven't seen you since... that firefight with Agent Fairchilde, I believe."

"Nurse Wormwood, I was hoping that'd be the last time I see you. Did the fine doctors of our city get that bullet out of me?"

The nurse cackled, genuinely and truly cackled. "They think so. They got out five bullets and a pair of broken off knife tips. You should try dodging."

"Best way to dodge is to avoid the people with guns, I thought retiring would do that. I don't want any visitors, by the way, just flat out refuse anyone. Don't bother asking permission from my doctor."

"Of course, Ganurath dear."

OOC: Naturally, this means she'll let anyone visit if the doctor gives them the okay.
