Mafia VIII Game Thread - Day 6

Ok, it's just getting lame now. Zar Peter, because it resembles something that might have a chance at possibly being a point on what is, if you looked at it in the right light, perhaps a bandwagon. And I'm really too tired to think about doing anything more complicated.
Also, more RP is coming eventually! I promise!))

James wakes and shakes his head a little. There must have been a storm last night or something, because he was woken by something that sounded very much like thunder. He looks at his clock and groans a little. Too early. He wanders into his kitchen and grabs the box of Fruit Loops. He turns on the news, like he always does in the morning. The reason for the late night thunder became apparent. Somebody set off a bomb or something at the local gym. No official death count yet. James changes the channel to check the stocks.

After a quick shower, James gets dressed and heads outside. His new job doesn't start for another week, so he decided to get used to the new city. He noticed that banjo's house isn't as noisy as it was yesterday. Maybe he was sleeping.

James walks into the nearest pub, called Lucky's. He sits at the bar and orders a drink. He notices ThePhantom sitting there with a rose. He thought of some sappy Lifetime movie and decided to buy a newspaper.

I walked down the street and put in a vote for Helgraf. He would havve made a great mayor if he was alive. After coming off work, I stop at the gym, but see the police have closed it down. What happened? Was someone murdered? Did I know them? No, that's crazy. Still, maybe I should wait awhile before i head back there. I head to Lucky's, but I don't really drink or do anything much. Just sit there.

Moxie Burnside checked herself out of the clinic. She didn't need no two-bit do-gooders telling her what to do or not do, and especially telling her what not to drink.

The tassles on her red dress swayed seductively as she jogged across the street for a highball... with a little more high, and a little less ball. I don't even know what that means! But it sounds noir-esque.

She downed her drink and watched the passerbys carefully. She was determined not to make the same mistake she had made the night before.

One little number caught her eye, and she sized up atreyu determining that his fur indicated a man with a sizable bank account. A size that made Moxie want to get to know him better.

Her feet hurt. She's been pounding the pavement all day, trying to chase down a job, to no avail. Larry's friend had given her audition all right, but she wasn't holding out hope. Not after ignoring his crude hints about just what she could do to improve her chances of getting hired. That scumbag. Despite what he may have heard, Maisie Price isn't that kind of a girl. Not yet, anyway.

The rumbling of her stomach reminds her that she hasn't eaten anything all day. She can't really afford to eat out, but the tiny boardinghouse room she's found doesn't have any cooking facilities, and the kitchen is closed to guests, probably so they'll shell out for the meals the landlady cooked. Well she'd paid for dinner last night, and she isn't going to shell out again for the likes of the anemic soup she'd been served in return.

She passes Lucky's just as someone is going in, and the rush of warm air and conversation from within draws her through the door. She orders a bowl of stew and a drink, too. She needs one. She sinks gratefully into a chair and surreptitiously kicks her shoes off under the table, giving her aching feet some relief.

For something to do, she eavesdrops on the other tables, and on the people sitting at the bar. From the snippets of conversation she overhears, it seems like someone named Zar Peter is a suspicious character. She wonders if he is truly what they say he is, or if he just crossed the wrong person.

After checking that neither of the lovers had come in yet, Eric leaves his table, and walks over to the young lady that he meet last night. "So, miss, were you able to find a place to stay? This city is no place for a young lady on her own."

Maisie looks up, startled out of her musings on bad reputations, to see a gentleman she is sure she recognizes. Who... Oh, the gardener from last night. She hurriedly stuffs her feet back into her shoes.
Yes, I did find someplace to stay, at least for the time being. Not that I'll be able to afford to stay there long, at the rates she's charging...

She trails off, waiting for him to introduce himself.

"My name is Eric Rose," Eric bows. I own a flower shop, but you probably guessed that. From the phrase of at least for the time being, I guess you haven't got a job. You want one from me, I need someone to man the shop while I work on the flowers?"

Well, thank you for the offer, Mr. Rose. The thing is, I'm a dancer. She looks at him somewhat challengingly for a moment, looking for his reaction, knowing that some people see dancing as little removed from certain less-than-respectable professions. I'd really like to find a job doing that if I can, but I sure appreciate your kindness. Can I have a few days to think about it?

Jonathan headed towards Lucky's to meet up as planned. He found the name ironic at best considering he had been down on his luck lately. Let's just say he had much less money than he'd like at the moment. He had heard his brother hadn't been doing much better. But there might be some hope if this thing he had "acquired" from an associate was worth something. If only he could get in touch with Evie, but for some reason she hadn't returned his calls. Probably that O'Connell fellow.

Jonathan entered the bar. "Now where are you?" he thinks. Noticing a mirror next to him, he leans over and adjusts his hair. Straightening back up he says to no one in particular, "Not you, you handsome devil. The less pretty one." Looking around he tries to spot Jonathan.

"Okay, then Miss. Remember, my offer is still open to you, unlike the last person. That Zar Peter, he almost burned down my shop. I wouldn't trust him to make my coffee." Eric goes back to his table, and waits.

The mystery man slowly rises to his feet after spending a night on the street and makes his way back to Lucky's.

On arriving, he leans against one of the old walls that make up "Lucky's", then folds his arms in a huff due to lack of role playing interest in him from others.

Pulling out a small bun, the man eats it to keep the wolves from the door and notes ThePhantom at the table and ponders.

The books didn't sell themselves, no matter which way you looked at it. And bodies in the gutter certainly didn't make them sell any faster.
Uncertainty was always bad for business, and this kind of uncertainty was usually some of the worst. Well, there were accusations going back and forth in the streets, but none seemed to have any weight behind them...

Might as well suggest Atreyu, as it's unlikely to get him offed for this, and there's no real reason to suspect one of the others as the most likely.

Jonathan Carnahan creeps in behind his twin brother, giggling to himself. He had already stashed the wheels from his car elsewhere, but that was a proposition for another night. Something, or someone, had to pay for the drinks, it might as well be his twin.

"Brother!" he shouts, quickly weaving his way through the crowd, checking a few coats on the way for an unprotected wallet. "I've never seen you looking so dashing!" He grins, and notices the mirror behind his head. "Or maybe it's just a trick of the light..." he mutters to himself, showing his famous lop-sided grin, while throwing a wink and mock finger-gun-point at himself.

"Ready to get down to business?"

O'Connell closes up shop in the evening and heads for Lucky's, noticing Amplify by the door and nodding to him as he goes to head inside.

Noticing the growing amount of hostity, Eric heads for the post office, and sends a few letters. After the trip to the post office, Eric decided to wander the streets, so that those who were after him would have a harder time tracking him down. Still no clues about where the lovers where, but today looks like it is a day to stay out of the limelight.
